Chapter 95: Chapter 95

CHAPTER 95

CHRISTIAN

The moment Mrs Smith, had told Christian that his best friend was here to visit, he had known that things was going to go south.

Basically their conversation would be centered on his departure news, and Sara too and based on the latter he knew the talk wasn’t going to be an easy one.

Well, it was becoming more visible and clear now, and as he paced around his room, his hands going to his hair and ruffling the dark blonde strands every now and then, Christian could only try to reign in his anger.

They had talked about his journey, and then diverting to the talk of Sara, Daniel had suddenly become over defensive and honestly Christian didn’t like it at all.

He just didn’t like it, and no matter how he’d warned Daniel not to push too far, his friend wasn’t giving a damned fuck, as he was still angry.

“So you’re just going to throw away every single thing you had with that poor pregnant girl, just because of some nude photos that were clearly staged?” Daniel spat out incredulously, the fury and venom in his voice loud and clear for anyone to hear, and it made Christian’s blood boil heavily.

“You’re just going to keep walking around, and barely say a thing to me?” Daniel asked again, and spitting out, fists clenched Christian began to murmur some incorrigible words over and over again in his head.

“Oh that’s it right? You’ll leave Sara here, with her pregnancy and you’ll just go to Seattle and have a good life and…”

“Oh for Christ’s sake stop bringing the talk about that goddamned pregnancy into this conversation. I’ve told you over and over that, the growing fetus isn’t mine for goodness sake man.”

“Oh jeez! Come on, now you’re going to go ahead and just deny the pregnancy too? What proof do you have that it isn’t yours huh? Give me a proof and maybe I might believe you.”

“Nothing I say would make you believe me, because I can clearly see that Ariel must have brainwashed you with whatever lies Sara told her, but one thing I can swear on my life is that the pregnancy isn’t mine. As for proof, I don’t like divulging out personal information but you should know that it’s been weeks, if not months since I last touched her. I’ve barely slept with her, and now all of a sudden she’s pregnant? No man, see reasons with me too.”

“Did you even see the test man? She’s so many weeks gone for crying out loud. Your kid has been growing in her stomach for days, and the both of you had no idea. Now all because of some staged photos you want to throw it all way right?” Daniel asked, his questions making Christian more angry, and he tried to reign his fury down by speaking a bit calmly.

“You keep saying the photos were clearly staged, this and that but you’ve not even seen them. I couldn’t bear another man looking at her naked photos, and I respected her own privacy, that’s why you never got to see them but do you have any idea how the pictures looked like. She enjoyed every single thing. Her jaw slacking, eyes rolled up and she was having the time of her life and now you want me…”

“I want you to forgive her!” Daniel yelled, his vibe shaking the walls, irritating Christian yet again.

The last thing he wanted to do right now was to attract anymore attention, and the way Daniel was talking about Sara’s pregnancy had him in deep turmoil, but again he decided not to care to much.

Also, he didn’t want his mother to know that…

“Does your mother know about the pregnancy? Your siblings too, do they know?” Daniel asked again, reading his mind clearly and Christian cursed internally.

“She doesn’t, they don’t, and frankly I don’t want them to know. What good is it? Sara cheated on me. She is carrying a another man’s child, and you want me to tell them? Don’t you see how ridiculous it sounds?”

“Don’t you also see how ridiculous it sounds to your ears, that Sara cheated on you. You believe Sara would do such to you? Damn!”

“Well, I don’t care. We talked, she didn’t give me any tangible answer to the questions I asked so I’ve seen what I need to know. We’ve broken up, and I’m leaving for Seattle in some hours time. So you can see Daniel, there’s no going back anymore and there’s nothing you can say to change my mind. I’ve made it up already, and I won’t ruin it because of anything.”

“Seriously?”

“Yes, I’m serious.”

Silence fell in the room like a cool blanket, and as it grew the atmosphere became tense, with their steadied heavy breathing being the only audible sounds in the room.

“Christian you’re willing to leave us, and Sara like this right?” Daniel asked softly after some time, face up as he stared intently at Christian probably trying to gauge his reaction, but he wasn’t unfazed.

He would look unaffected, no matter how hard he would have to try.

“Leaving us?” He asked softly, his brow raised up questioningly and his best friend only nodded in response.

“I’m not leaving you Daniel. Surely we’ll talk over the phone, and later on just like you said one time, you would come to Seattle right? I mean, you did say that and…”

“Just know that if you’re trying to leave Sara this way, because of some fucked up pride and ego brewing up in you, then I will gladly tell it to your face that we can’t be friends anymore.”

“What!“ Christian exclaimed, sputtering at the same time, “Surely… surely… you are joking right?”

“I’m not.” Daniel said stiffly, and he looked so serious about his statement.

“No, Daniel you certainly don’t mean this right? I mean, you’re want to throw all we’ve had just because of…”

Daniel didn’t allow him finish, as he chimed in, “The way you threw away the envious and sweet relationship between you and Sara away, without even looking back at all, then that’s the way I’m breaking off this friendship. I can’t be friends with someone who doesn’t think right. What you’re doing is so wrong, and you know it.”

“What Daniel… No you are only joking right and…” Christian began, hands stretched as he watched his best friend walk towards his door, hand on the knob ready to turn it open, and just exit his life.

Sara had already shredded his heart already, but Daniel was just helping him pick up the pieces and then stomping on them over and over again.

Tears already burned at the back of his eyes, and he was trying his best not to let them fall, as he watched his best friend, and childhood buddy threaten to walk out of his life just like that.

“I’m sorry Christian, but I’m just doing what’s right. Ariel is in agony because of the things you said and did to her friend. It hurts every single time I go see her, and she goes through so much, crying in my arms just because Sara can’t sleep, and keeps sobbing all day because of you. Now you’re just going to leave despite every single thing I’ve said and how I’m trying to make you see reasons.”

“No m…m…man. Come on man.” Christian called out, taking a step towards him, but Daniel already opened the door and had one of his legs outside the room already.

“You’ve changed Christian, and I don’t know where this uncouth hardened spirit came from, but it’s not the trait of the best friend I once had. I wish you good-luck in your future endeavors, but count me out of it.” Daniel finished, at the same time slamming the door so loud that it shook Christian to the core.

He trudged slowly towards the door, his fury building up and not knowing what overcame him, he flinged the door open and yelled out at Daniel’s retreating figure, “You know what I don’t freaking care. I have a ride to catch, and I’ll be out if this freaking city and you all and…”

“Son.”

Turning to his right, Christian froze when he saw his mother by his side, bag of luggages in her hand and he started to feel nostalgic all of a sudden.

“Is Daniel leaving, or rather did he leave without telling me goodbye? What did you both discuss son? I heard the yelling and…” The grey haired woman began with the questions, worry etched atop her forehead but Christian just didn’t feel like indulging her on what happened yet again.

How would he bring himself to tell her that a friendship of over a decade just ended like that? He couldn’t bring himself to say a thing and so instead he sniffed back the tears he was fighting, and asked slowly, “Is the bus here?”

“Yes, and your siblings are waiting for you downstairs. It’s time to leave for the motel son.”

Giving her a quick nod, and muttering that he would be fast, Christian walked back into his room, staring at the packed bags on his neatly laid out bed.

They were to go to the motel to spend the night, and tomorrow morning they would head to the station to board the train to Seattle.

This was his last minute in this room, this house as a whole, and holding back a sob that gurgled from deep in his throat, Christian fell to the floor, as waves and waves of emotions coursed through him.

He was leaving this place for good, but now he was not feeling too excited about the whole thing.

He couldn’t hold back the tears anymore as they spilled down his cheeks, and he recollected all the fond memories he’d had in this room, with the ones involving Sara being the most memorable.

He recalled it all.

The first time she’d stepped into his room, the night of his birthday when she’d given him her virginity, and all the happy and sad times they’d gone through together in this same room.

The fights, the quarrels, the make up sex, all the assurances and plans they’d both had and made together. Damn it hurt!

He never expected leaving this place with so much sadness. Heck he had imagined how he would leave this city.

With Sara by his side, hands on her arms as they waved at Daniel and Ariel, before boarding the taxi that would covey them to the station but now… This was far from the reality he’d expected.

If only he could turn back the hands of time. Maybe, then he wouldn’t have gone to that fucking spot where he’d met Sara some months back.

Maybe, he wouldn’t have fallen in love still, or he could have tried his best to fucking avoid her.

Maybe just maybe, he would have done things right… But here he was.

With a broken heart, his confidence shredded, and his eyes threatening to fall out from its socket.

His whole body quaking, Christian wrapped an arm round his arms, and burying his head in between his pulled up thighs, he began to cry his heart out.

He had lost it all! Lost every fucking thing!
