Chapter 92: Chapter 92
CHAPTER 92
SARA
“Hello Christian.” Sara said weakly, her voice hoarse and despite the weakness she was feeling all over her body, she still managed to grace her face with a small smile.
Her eyes roaming through his whole body, she almost let out a whimper, taking a step forwards as she was overcome with so many emotions.
She fucking missed him so much! Missed the feel of his arms around her body, the cologne from his shirt, and his husky voice breathing sweet nothings in her ear.
Now more than ever, as she stared right at him still smiling, Sara realized just how much she missed having him close to her.
Well, now she was here and she would remedy that all to quickly.
She continued staring at him, but then seeing how unmoving he was, the stoic look in his face, and the brewing silence that thickened the atmosphere, Sara could only note that something was wrong somewhere.
“Hey Christian…” She called out again, this time waving her right hands at him as she asked again, “What’s up? Am I not allowed to come in?”
“Come in? To do what?” He said finally, his tone dead and Sara was taken aback, her jaw dropping open in shock.
What did he mean? Worst still, why was he looking at her like that?
Suddenly she felt a chill run down her spine, and the foreboding feeling that something bad was about to happen, dawned on her but she tried her possible best to clamp the negative thoughts.
Coughing slightly, and tapping at her feets slightly she managed a light giggle and opening her arms as if to embrace him, she said, “Are you trying to play some prank on me? Come here let me give you a hug. I’ve missed you so much.“
Before she could even get to him, he tackled her embrace, stepping out the door of his apartment and banging the door loudly behind him.
Turning to face her, his stoic face now masking a harsh expression on them, Christian said much to Sara’s disbelief, “What are you doing here? At my house? Why the fuck are you here?” He finished with a bristle, spitting out sternly.
“What kind of question is that Christian?” Sara rolled her eyes as she asked, “If this is a joke please kindly stop it.”
“Do I look like I’m joking? I asked you a question, what are you doing here? I have so many important things to do inside, and if you have nothing to say to me then let me go back in.”
As he said these hurting words, Sara watched his eyes drop to the floor, and it was almost like it was difficult for him to stare at her.
Despite how brutal his words earlier had felt, Sara tried not to think to much about it. Surely he was just joking, and again she remembered that she was pregnant and probably her hormones were acting up, making her see to much meaning in his words.
A small smile on her lips again, her left hand instinctively going to her tummy and rubbing gently, Sara assured herself internally that everything was fine.
Besides just as he had important things to do inside, she had a more important news for him. One that would change the course of his life… their life actually for better or for worse.
It would be for the better though. Christian loved her, and he would definitely feel ecstatic about this.
Letting out a huge sigh, Sara mumbled slowly almost inaudibly but loud enough for him to hear, “I’ve been really sick, which I’m sure you know already and I actually came here because I have something I really need to tell you.”
She paused a bit waiting for him to say something, but when he didn’t she added, “I also came because I missed you, and now you’re torturing me already. You don’t even want to look at me, you’ve not even hugged me, you’ve not even said my name in that loving way you normally used to. I don’t know if it’s this damned p…” She stopped at the last second and instead said, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I can see you’re in a good mood though. You can tell me what’s wrong though. I can tell you why I came here later.”
The silence that descended when she finished stretched so uncomfortably, it almost sent shivers through her.
“Are you okay Christian? Is something bothering you?” She queried softly, taking another step towards him her hands stretched out to touch his shoulders but he took another step back again, and Sara’s chest plummeted heavily.
“You don’t want me to touch you okay, but fucking look at me Christian! You’re frustrating the hell out of me. Talk to me!“
This time she finished with a half yell, and by the time she was done talking, she let out the huge tensed breath she had been holding for so long.
“You should know all these don’t faze me anymore.” Christian said slowly and raising a brow Sara asked gently, “All what?”
He let out a hiss and then said again, “All these hysterics of yours you know. I know the real you now Sara, I know it. I know everything.”
“What are you…”
He didn’t let her finish. “I don’t care about your welfare. You should know I don’t care about you at all anymore. I didn’t come to visit you in the hospital, despite knowing you are sick and you wanna know why?” He paused, “It’s because I don’t care about what happens to you Sara. Also I didn’t let you come into my house. You wanna know why too? It’s because I can’t let a liar, and someone as vile and cunning like you in my house or my life anymore.”
“Oh now this is becoming serious, and I feel like crying.” Sara giggled amidst the unprecedented tears burning at the back of her eyes, “Surely this is a prank right?”
She was laughing a bit hysterically now, clutching at her stomach as she plainly laid out, “This is some kind of joke right? You have been angry since that carnival day, is this related to it? Do you even have any idea what hap…”
“Oh, lest I forget, speaking about whatever happened at that damned carnival… Take a look at this.” He stretched out a brown envelope for her to take and just when she was about to collect it he flinged it instead and continued, “You can try to explain what that means, and who those people in there are.”
“What’s that?” Sara asked, as she slowly bent to pick up the envelope which was now on the floor, but he said nothing in response to her query.
“Is this why you’ve been behaving this way to me? Is this why you’re being harsh all of a sudden towards me?” She asked slowly, her hands shaking as she began to open the envelope slowly, dreading whatever she would see inside.
The chilling silence that descended sent goosebumps all through Sara’s skin, but she wasn’t going to falter, instead she tore open the wrapped paper, and that’s when she saw it.
She saw the black and white photos, a gasp escaping her lips as she fell to the floor.
For a minute she couldn’t move, or say a thing instead she glued her eyes to the photos in front of her before slowly looking back up at Christian who had a sneer on his face.
Before she could even say a thing, he cut her to the chase, as he asked harshly, “Care to explain what that is?
…….
CHRISTIAN
Christian stood still, watching at Sara stare at the nude photos, and also trying to gauge her reactions at the same time.
At first she let out a gasp, one of the photo cards falling to the floor, as she shook her head rigorously as if trying to say she didn’t understand what she was looking at, but it was obvious.
Oh how he longed to hear what she had to say to him? What lie would she tell him now? How would she cover this up?
A smirk curling up his lips, he folded his elbows, his broad body filling out the door as he stood stiff, and unmoving.
“Christian… I… I… what is this? I don’t understand, why you are showing me this and…”
“You don’t understand why I’m showing you this right? But you do know what that is right? You clearly understand what the pictures entail right?”
“Christian how did you get this? I mean, these are… I don’t even want to say out out loud. I…”
“Those are nude photos Sara. Your freaking nude photos!” He almost barked, his jaw gritting as he continued, “What the picture entails is that you’ve been clearly cheating on me. Or aren’t you the one in the pictures? Maybe you would tell me you have a twin sister. Tell me the well cooked up lie you’re already thinking off.”
“I can’t cheat on you Christian, I don’t have any twin sister and I’m not even thinking of any lie right now. I don’t get you. I…”
“Well explain that then. Why are you pictured intimately in the arms of another man?
Who is that stranger in bed with you? Why’s your mouth all spruced up and open, and it’s clearly evident you’re enjoying what he’s going to you… Fucking explain it then!” He yelled this time, without a care in the world.
She was crying now, and the tears streaming down her face started to tug at his heart. She looked innocent, and clueless also but just before he could give into any instinct, Christian shook his head discarding the thought, and stood his guard.
She was lying.
“Christian do you believe I would cheat on you?” She asked after a while, swiping at her cheeks with her palms.
“I don’t know what to believe Sara, but one thing I do know is that I can’t even believe what you say. I’ve got evidence that you’re cheating, and now you’re not even saying a thing to counter that, so what do you want me to believe?”
“I…” She began, her voice crooked before she continued, “I have no recollection about what happened at the carnival event after we talked last. I… I was involved in something drastic that day Christian. I was drugged and I have no recollection of what happened anymore. I… I…”
Her words were irritating him to no ends, and before she could even finish he cut in, “Just freaking stop with the lies and disguise already Sara. You can’t recollect what happened that day! You were involved in an accident or what not! You won’t cheat on me right? Then fine, I’ve heard that all! But then explain why you’ve being reluctant to go with me to Seattle then. Explain! Is it because you’ve been meeting another guy behind my back? Is it because you knew something like this would happen right?” He spat out and she said nothing in response, just sobbing hysterically and now his fury was just building up.
“Talk to me!” He barked, “Say something! Or is it evident? You had another man, and you just couldn’t leave him to come with me to Seattle right? It’s evident that that’s what this is! You…”
“I had my doubts Christian. Much more than anything in this world, I want to be with you but I was scared. I’m still young and I…” She broke off, sniffing her hands wiping furiously at her face incessantly.
“You want me to believe that huh?” Christian only scoffed, still not satisfied with what she was saying.
She had doubts, thoughts about going with him to start a new life, even after all the lengths he’d gone through just so they could be together, and she claimed she loved him? This was basically the lie of the century.
“Please Christian… Believe me. I can see that you don’t and…”
“Of course I don’t. Talking about that Carnival party, I warned you several times Sara. I begged you not to fucking go, but you refused and still went ahead to do what you wanted to do.”
“I’m so sorry Christian. Believe me when I say I am. I’m sorry, and I keep regretting not heeding your advice. I’m so sorry and…”
“Just cut the crap Sara. Admit that you cheated on me, and just stop with the lies already. I’m tired and fed up.”
“Christian please…” Her voice broke as she continued to sob, but he didn’t even show any remorse or pity for her at all.
“I’m sorry for being stubborn. I promise you it won’t happen. Just let’s calm down, try to see reasons with me now so I can explain. Please Christian, please.”
“You know what Sara? I’m freaking done with you!” He blurted out after some time while she continued to beg, and he heard her gasp softly.
“You can’t possibly mean…”
“I mean every single thing I’m saying Sara, I do. I’m tired of going back and forth in circles with you, or arguing restlessly with you and then coming back to beg for your forgiveness. In truth Sara, you don’t value me at all. You never valued me, and you never cared for me. It’s obvious now, seeing the lengths you had to go through and now you think crying and begging would solve this problem but I want you to know that it won’t. I just can’t be with a woman who doesn’t listen to me, or my gut intuitions. You don’t see a future with me, and you’ve shown it in your actions.”
“No no…” She began, shaking her head and he heard her add, “You can’t possibly mean to say that you want to break up with me Christian. You did say we were stuck together for life, so you can’t.”
“I can’t?” He all but let out, a laugh gurgling from beneath his throat, and she nodded, taking a step towards him.
“Yes you can’t Christian, you can’t break up with me because…” She paused, and he all but quirked his brows waiting for her to finish.
He had a smirk on, ready to dish out back whatever she gave, but he never expected the bombshell she dropped when she announced matter of factly…
“You can’t break up with me Christian. You can’t because I’m pregnant. I’m carrying your child, our child in my belly.”
