Chapter 59: Chapter 59

CHAPTER 59

DINAH’S POV

Mrs Patrick’s words kept ringing in her ears as she walked down the shelter’s hallway…

“Miss Dinah, do you know it is going to be time for you to leave this shelter right?”

She replayed the question, just the way she kept replaying the whole conversation that just happened in her head all over and over again.

She had just gone some minutes or hours ago maybe to the matron’s office.

After Tessa, had told her about the summon some days ago, she had not really had the time to answer the call, despite Tessa’s pleas, and worry.

She didn’t bother much, since she knew there was nothing bad the matron wanted to talk to her about.

It’d been long since she had done anything bad in the shelter, at least her and Tessa, excluding Miranda had not bullied or engaged in any petty fights these past few weeks, so today when she had gone to the office to answer her summon, she had not been afraid or anxious to know why she had been called.

She had bounced as usual, and Tessa who had followed her, had waited for her outside the office.

Where was Tessa now?...

In anger after hearing this heartbreaking news and notice from Mrs Patrick, she had furiously sent Tessa out of the way on getting out, and now she was just wandering aimlessly down the stairs.

As usual she passed by children, both kids, adolescent and others and none of them even stopped to ask her what happened, because it was obvious that she was walking and chanting some incomprehensible words.

She wasn’t surprised though…

They dared not come to her and talk anyhow, and even though this was supposed to be some kind of relief to Dinah, right now it just wasn’t.’

No one cared… No one cared about her…

Even the matrons in the shelter, didn’t care.

They just had this fucking orphanage home, and it was all just a guise so they could eat government money, and other charity proceeds, all in the name of catering for kids they were finally going to push out once they turned 18.

Dinah knew this time was certainly going to come, but then Mrs Patrick would have allowed her clocked 18 first, stay some days in the shelter arranging her departure and stuff before sending her out.

But this early notice, had just dampened her spirit, and honestly Dinah was really really furious.

She hadn’t expected it at all, and when Mrs Patrick had dropped the bombshell smiling softly, she had lost it.

Normally, if it were in a different circumstance, she would have yelled at the woman, but she just couldn’t.

She had tried her possible best to control herself round that woman.

She was going to leave the shelter, dang it! It was clearly good news, she was going to be free.

Able to do what she wanted, go out and come back without any disturbance, have lots of freedom and encounter lots of adventures, but when she thought of all the down side of things she became sad all over again.

She was just lost, and she didn’t know what to do.

Standing at the door of her room, she swung the door open she saw that Tessa was already inside, and standing by the fridge.

She was drinking some water, and immediately she saw Dinah, she covered the bottle and walked towards her.

“Hey, what’s up.”

“Just get out. I told you to leave me alone back then, and here you are asking me how far, like seriously?” Dinah said furiously, despite lowering the tone of her voice.

Her anger and sadness all combined together was in her voice, and she knew Tessa could hear it too, but right now she just didn’t care.

She plopped her butt down on her soft sofa bed, and brought out her phone, intent on calling not texting someone but then who?

Suddenly the bed dipped, and Tessa sat down beside her, close enough for their laps to almost touch.

“Dinah, what happened? You know you can talk to me…” Tessa began to say but she interrupted, “Cut the bullshit okay. You certainly don’t need to know because I would not tolerate anybody making fun of my situation now. This fucking situation at hand!”

“Am I anybody now? Am I no longer your best friend.” Tessa asked calmly and Dinah just scoffed, “Best friend indeed. You know after what happened between I and Miranda, I’ve learnt not to trust anybody or anyone anymore, because one never knows what to expect. So you might be my best friend but that doesn’t mean that, I have to tell you everything.”

If Tessa was hurt or angry by what Dinah said, she showed no emotions, instead she pestered again, “What did Mrs Patrick say to you?”

Sighing and rubbing her forehead, Dinah finally answered, “Well since you want to know, she just called to remind me of my approaching leave from the shelter. I’ll soon clock 18. Now you know.”

“Oh jeez… Man I totally forgot.” Tessa exclaimed and Sara just rolled her eyes.

She would forget, because Tessa was still 17, and her 18th birthday was still months ahead.

Hypocrite! Dinah thought in her head.

“Calm down, and don’t panic. You have so many places to go too, you know right?” Tessa said and Dianh looked at her disbelievingly, “Where?”

“Mikey’s place of course, and you do know I’ll follow you wherever you go.”

“You’ll be with me, when I leave this place?” Dinah asked blinking her eyes, from which tears were threatening to spring up.

Just when she had began to think that Tessa was going to abandon her, and forget about her once she left now she was saying this.

“Yes I will, and do you know why I think this is a really great idea?” Tessa asked her, stroking her hair gently, and smirking, as Dinah nodded a no.

“Well, you know Mikey loves you, and he’s definitely going to allow us stay at his place, before we get a stable place. Also we would have time to carry out our plans very well without any suspicions or the activity being traced back to us.”

Dinah had not even thought of it this way.

That was if she might have left before the event took place.

“Oh damn, Tessa you’re such a genius!” She exclaimed wiping her face, and finally putting on her evil look, while Tessa smirked happily.

“So cheer up, you’re going to be fine okay.” Tessa said and Dinah nodded.

Fuck it! She was going to be fine.

Yes she was…..

SARA

“Knock knock…” Sara knocked gently on the door.

She looked at her wristwatch and saw that it was almost 9pm.

She had sneaked from the shelter, and walked all the way down to Christian’s house.

She hadn’t even informed Ariel, who was fast asleep.

They had had a very hectic day in school today, and even though Sara was tired too, she still wanted to see Christian.

She didn’t know why, but she had the insane urge to see him tonight.

Since that Sunday, they hadn’t really seen or talked much, just making do with texts as he was busy with his leave preparations.

Today she wanted to see him, and talk to him about everything and nothing, and most importantly she wanted to be in his arms.

She missed him.

She was about to knock again, when suddenly the door burst open, and standing in front of the entrance was Christian’s sister Bianca.

Beautiful beautiful Bianca, with the gorgeous smile.

“Aunty, Aunty Sara is that you?” She questioned before coming closer and seeing Sara she squealed loudly, and jumped into her arms.

She almost staggered down the stairs, due to the force of the embrace, but she kept a strong control over her body.

“Oh Bianca, I’ve told you to stop calling me Aunty, were age mates for Christ’s sake.” Sara sighed and the young girl just laughed.

Her smile looking like that of Christian’s and Sara smiled too.

“I was just saying that to pull your legs, I was joking.” She said and opening the door wider she said, “Come on in.”

Patting her shoulder playfully, Sara walked inside the dimly lit house.

Everywhere was dark, except for the lights coming from the TV screen.

“Who is there Bianca?” Mrs Smith, Christian’s mother asked and not waiting for Bianca to say anything, Sara replied gently, “It’s me mom, Sara.”

“Oh dear, why did you come late this night,? It’s dark and it’s not safe outside.” Mrs Smith said, and standing up from where she was seated she switched on the lights and soon she was standing face to face to Sara.

“I just felt like coming now. I’m sorry for coming late.” She answered politely, and Mrs Smith just rolled her eyes, clearly not happy that she had come late.

“Well, next time you should’nt leave the shelter and come here this late. You hear me?” Mrs Smith asked her, placing her hands on her ears and drawing her ears, trying to make her point clear and Sara just laughed and nodded.

Despite the fact that it was funny, the way the beautiful woman was chiding her, Sara could’nt help her heart cracking.

The love and unconditional care and warmth that Christian’s family had showed her, from day one was so unexpected.

She hadn’t expected to be this loved by someone, talk more of a whole family, and she couldn’t be more grateful.

“What are you thinking about my dear, have you had something to eat? You’ve had dinner yet? You taken your evening bath?” Mrs Smith asked her, bringing her mind and thoughts back to the present, and she nodded positively, as Mrs Smith continued to fuss over her with lots of questions.

Sara had not even seen Christian yet, and she was about to ask when Mrs Smith brought up the topic of him as she could read what was in her mind, “You must be thinking about Christian right? I mean he’s the one you come to see, lover girl.”

Sara chuckled and nodded, and Mrs Smith said to her, “Well he’s in…”

She was cut of as a voice which was unmistakably Christian’s shouted from the stairs, “Sara! What a surprise, the hell are you doing here?”
