Chapter 16: Chapter 16
CHAPTER 16
"Ariel is this makeup not too much." Sara turned to look at her friend who was staring at her, like she couldn't recognize the face she was seeing.
"Babe you look stunning, I'm sure when Christian sees you, he wouldn't be able to recognize you any more." Ariel said.
Today was the D-Day, the day of the date, with the help of Ariel, she had rented a beautiful light pink cocktail dress from a nearby boutique across the shelter's street, and she was now putting on her make up.
Sara was nervous, this was the first time she was going on a date with someone, she had not been approached before, talk more of being asked out for a date.
"Sara, stop being nervous, I can see it written all over your face, you will be fine , it's just a simple date where you two will get to know more about each other, wine and dine and have lots of fun okay, so there is nothing to be worried about okay. Ariel said and Sara was astonished, she didn't know the anxiousness was showing all over her face and she sighed.
"Is this how I am very easy to read, God Ariel i am so scared, like I don't know how to even begin, I have not done this before, I don't know where to start from, what to say, how to behave, this thing is just alien to me like, it's all just so foreign to me."
"I know the feeling b." Ariel said.
Moving to sit on her bed, she carefully placed a hand on her head so as not to scatter the makeup, and muttered- "This discussion part is going to be another thing all together, he will want me to tell him everything about myself, he has already made his intentions to me clear on the phone so many times, he is really serious."
Ariel looked at her friend and smiled, "Aren't you serious about him too?"
"I am, you know I am too, like he is just so perfect, handsome, attentive, always listening and checking up on me." Sara answered her friend.
"Then he is damn serious, I can even say he is in love with you already, or am I not correct?" Ariel asked.
"He has told me over the phone, but I didn't even take it at heart, it's to early for him to start dropping confessions like that now." Sara replied answering her friend.
"Hmmmmmmmph, did you tell him that you loved him back?" she asked again raising her eyebrows suggestively.
"It's to early for me to reply miss, or don't you think and don't even ask me such silly questions." Sara said and stood up from the bed, going to the mirror trying to dust her face and get her make-up done.
"Are you going to tell him about the shelter, yunno like the fact that we are orphanages and so on."
"If it were you what would you say?" Sara asked.
"Relationships are based on truth, honesty and loyalty, and if you want to gain his trust in the coming days and vice versa, you just have to tell him everything, every single detail of yourself, you bare it all, in case if anything happens yunno, it wouldn't be a case of I told you and didn't tell you, all those useless talks, do you get me?" Ariel asked and she nodded her head, still uncertain about what to do, her friend was right, trust, loyalty was the base of everlasting friendship, if not a relationship and she didn't want to begin on rocky grounds, on a bad foundation.
Picking the shiny silver purse she had rented alongside the dress, she sat on the bed waiting for Christian's call, he had promised to call her, when he was ready, she had wanted to take an Uber to the restaurant but he had kicked against it, he didn't want her spending anything on this date, he had a bike, he was going to pick her at the same spot they had met that fateful day.
Looking at her best friend she said- "Yeah, I get you, I will tell him everything he needs to know, every damn thing, i'm baring my all this night." She replied smiling.
With pride written all over her face, Ariel said "That's the spirit dear, I am so proud of you girl, I have absolute faith that you can do this."
************
Christian stared at himself for the seventh time on the mirror, he had outdone himself for this date today.
He had put on some dark jeans and t-shirt, styled and combed his long hair with some styling gel so it would stay in place, he had even bought new shoes today, he wanted to look nice for his girl, smiling to himself, he liked what he saw in the mirror, he looked good.
Bending down to tie his shoe laces, he thought of what she was going to wear, with her large curly brown tresses, she was going to be a hot mess, his hot mess.
Sighing, he stood up turned around and came face to face with his mum.
"Oh son, you look dashing." She said while cleaning her swollen eyes which was beginning to fill up with tears.
"Mum what's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing, nothing my son, I have just been watching you, you remind me so much of your dad, he was so enthusiastic like this when we went on our first date. Oh son, I think she's the one for you, I can't wait to meet her." Mrs Smith answered.
Laughing quietly, Christian said- "She's the one mum, and you are surely going to meet her soon, you'll love her mum."
"I know I will, you have such good preference, I won't be dissatisfied with your choice." she said smiling proudly at her son.
Holding his hands she said again" I think you run along before you become late for your date son."
"Yes mum, take care." Christian said dashing for the door quickly.
"Have fun, son." His mum waved at him.
"I will, mum, I will."
