Chapter 30: Chapter 30
Naira’s POV
Getting outside of the hotel, I was about to rush towards the road to get a taxi but got stopped as Mack got uttering, “Let’s go by my car.”
Submissively I listened to him and got into his car following them. I forwarded my phone towards Mack as he me asked for the address.
Giving me back my phone, he started the car and Rivan asked me, “What actually happened, Naira?”
I briefed them in short about the incident. I thought they would yell at me but nothing went as my anticipation. Rather Mack got uttering, “Don’t worry. He must be okay though.” Like he understood my anxiety from my face that I was trying to hide.
They got silent then and I kept thinking about my ignorance of Ehan. I should have understood something was wrong with him. But I was so busy in my thoughts that I didn’t get to know he didn’t leave rather stayed trapped in the mishap that I created unintentionally.
Arriving at the police station, I stormed inside the police headquarter following Mack and Rivan. I moved my eyes around but no one in particular gave us any attention and all of the constables remain busy in their respective works.
Mack stood in front of one cop and got uttering, “There is a person inside the lockup named Ehan Sinha. This woman filed the complaint against him.”
The cop glanced at me and spoke up, “So?”
This time I spoke up, “I want you to release him.”
He answered in a serious tone, “Come back tomorrow. It’s not going to happen now.”
I chose to remain persistent, “Sir, please. He has been in lockup since two days on a false complaint. He is innocent.”
The cop rolled his eyes at my word might be getting irritated as he uttered with a lifted brow, “False complaint! He said you filed the complaint, right?” as he pointed towards Mack.
I nodded and looked down understanding his glare as he spoke up, “Was this a joke or what? Don’t you people take police seriously? I can put you all in prison for this prank.”
Rivan spoke up in between, “Sorry sir but there was a misunderstanding that made her angry and all this got happened. Can you please..”
The cop didn’t let him complete and spoke up, “Get out from here. He can’t be released now. Come back tomorrow.”
I found myself getting at the edge of tears as the same bad things possibly happened to him popped in my mind again and I couldn’t help uttering, “Can we at least see him, please?”
The cop stared at me for some moment and then spoke up, “Alright. I can do that much.”
He turned to some other cop who was standing at a distance as he uttered, “Zac, bring Ehan Sinha out here.”
Nodding at him, that cop walked somewhere inside may be to bring Ehan out I guessed.
After few minutes I heard Mack and Rivan uttering, “Ehan!” as they rushed towards Ehan. My gaze followed them and as soon as they met Ehan, I took a step back involuntarily. I felt appalled seeing his condition.
He was still in same clothes from before when I last saw him. But now they looked all dirty and disheveled. Few scratches on his face and neck and knuckles got into my sight indicating that he definitely got beaten or got into fights.
When he looked at my direction, I immediately looked away and wiped off the tear from the corner of my eye.
I could feel Ehan’s gaze on me but I didn’t get myself to look at him or utter anything.
I wasn’t understanding what to do. Ehan’s condition was getting me remorseful.
I turned to Ehan for once and saw him taking Mack’s phone and then heard him uttering, “Hey, it’s Ehan here..” as he put the phone on his ear.
The cop gave him a questioning look to which he just uttered, “I am contacting my lawyer.”
I didn’t get to know what happened after that as I was being all busy with my remorse.
After some time, we all got out of the police station. I thought of going to the hotel by myself for once but dropped the idea at last.
Ehan got into the back seat of the car and turned to me as he got uttering, “Aren’t you coming?” seeing me stand still.
He looked worn out. His haggard and drowsy eyes clearly showing what he must have gone through in these two days.
Being unable to say otherwise, I just quietly got into the back seat and sat beside him.
Mack took the driving seat and Rivan took seat beside him. As Mack started driving, Ehan rested his head against the seat closing his eyes.
I was getting angry on myself. I was just trying to stop him from following me around with his sorry but ended up injuring him. I didn’t want that.
I didn’t know I was staring at him while thinking all this. When I understood, he was already staring at me.
I immediately looked away as he got uttering, “I am okay. Don’t worry.”
I looked at him from the corner of my eye only to find his eye were closed again.
Arriving at the hotel, I immediately got down and forwarded towards the entrance. It was almost evening.
Entering my room, I kept pacing all around in guilt, anger, frustration.
I knew I was at fault but Ehan should take some blame also. He was the who provoked me to go crazy. There is a limit of tolerance.
Later at night, being unable to sleep after all this, I got out of my room. To get some fresh air, I reached the roof of the hotel.
But to my luck faced him again. He was sitting on a bench looking blankly at the sky.
There were bandages on the scratches.
I got near involuntarily and got uttering, “Shouldn’t you be taking rest now? What are you doing here?”
He kept staring at me for few moments and then got uttering, “I can say that too. Anyways I am fine.”
In guilt, anger, frustration I just blurted out, “Yeah, I can see that. What is your problem, Ehan? You could have gotten out from there by yourself. What were you waiting for, haan?”
“You.” He answered calmly.
There he started again as he got uttering, “I am okay. It’s nothing new to me. Don’t worry.”
I tried to get hold of my anger but couldn’t as he got uttering with a little bit of smile, “You know I am happy to know that you still care for me though I made you go through all this.”
I kept looking at him with knitted brows for some time and then spoke up, “Yes, I still care for you. Yes, I still think about you. But you know what? I don’t want you back. Because I can forgive you but I can’t trust you again. So stop it.”
After that, I was about to leave but got stopped hearing him, “If it was in my control, believe me, I wouldn't have even started it, Naira.”
I turned to him as he got uttering again, “Give me a chance, Naira. I can’t change our past but we can change our future. Let’s start afresh from the very beginning. I know it won’t be easy for you but still let's try. Please.”
