Chapter 45: Chapter 45

The ground breaks, vomiting Nicklaus from the same spot the fire had taken him down. His shirt is tattered from the effect, and his jeans as well, but only the lower part. His skin's turned almost black as his body heaves up and down.

"I'll take of this myself." He says to his sister and father and they nod, giving him the space to do what he wants. I prepare myself to see that part of him he's told me I'd be malignantly fretful of.

His neck crunches on snapping it from left to right, and right to left. He faces the Ryders dragon, and raises up his hand, looking so small compared to the huge creature, still whimpering from the effect of its own caused pain.

"By the powers bestowed on me as the grandson of the first guardian, with the blood of Gevadaun, streaming down my veins, I command my fire bending powers as an Hybrid to have an effect on you — a fire-made from creature."

Nicklaus' raised hands vibrate before his body takes up the shivering motion, the ground, where the creature lays becoming reddish. Explosive sounds accompanies, erupting lava that sinks in the creature into earth, supping it up as it snarls increasingly weakly. I stand there shocked from who's taken over his body. This is no Nicklaus. His new voice contemplates that, but though I can still hear Nicklaus' own voice at the base.

When the ground has done what he bends it to do, he closes every broken space, patching it up that it looks like nothing has happened.

"You killed my creature!" The Ryder yells as he forces him to stand. "I've been breeding him to mature for the past four hundred years, and in one night you murder him?" He still doesn't believe it, I assume.

"I have no repercussion from nature for doing this. You cause this on yourself. Whom sent you should have known you're nothing compared to the Originals." Nicklaus says and within seconds, he's right in front of the Ryder. "Your life is mine to take."

"Wait up...brother." Adeline shout just before Nicklaus can dip into the Ryder's neck, which he's holding already. The Ryder's closed his eyes in fear. "We need to see his memory. Know their plans." Adeline's word calms him a little so he leaves the guy for their...mother to near him.

I remember her as well the other day at school. Her hair is wild this time around as her face has this stoic expression, very different from the face she worn that day. They all look terrifying when angered. Her porcelain skin is more paper and neat unlike Nicklaus that's stained with dirt and little of crimson.

She places her hand on his Ryder's head at each sides, and closes her eyes, releasing some sort of glow that passes from her hand, down to the his head. She squint every now and then, until, suddenly she takes her hand off his head.

"I got it. Well, it's a bit fussy, but I'd try to decipher it." She says to them all, expunging me from the equation. That's what they've all done. As if I'm not here.

"I'll take you home, love." Nicklaus Father says to his wife, their mother and picks her up into a bridal style and speeds off.

Adeline takes her brother shoulder and shake it. "Drain him like you've never drained before, brother."

"Trust me."

"Sure." She says dauntingly and gazes over to me. Oh, Lord, thank you, at least someone acknowledges me. I was beginning to think perhaps I'm dead. Too much movies. My subconscious complains and I chase her off. When last has she disturbed me this way?

"See you." She says to me, so fast that I have to repeat her words in my head more than thrice to understand.
