Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Guys, this is the real chapter twenty seven I made a mistake in the arrangements.

"Let's walk." He says and begin. I manage to catch up.

"So...you kissed him." He says certainly and glance very sharply at me. I'm speechless.

"Yes." I manage to voice out, but knowing that that curt answer can be diverted to many meanings, I explain more. "Actually, I was drunk last night. Shade invited me to that party. If under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have...even done...that... whatever...that..." I sigh.

It's pointless explaining myself when it was all a lie. I wasn't drunk when I kissed him. In fact the drunk-ness was long gone since we got to the hospital.

Carl just nods. "You know I regretted not talking to you while in junior high school. I thought that since you have a crush on me, you'd have it for more time which by then, I would have had the courage to come talk to you, but I was wrong. Now you're a big girl. I really like you a lot Rayne and won't hesitate to correct my mistakes of the past if only you'd allow me to. I'm saying this from heart. And my heart is warm, not cold."

While Carl pauses, I think about what he meant by warm, not cold. It sounded having potential.

"I'm sorry for getting angry at nothing, and for not punching him for you." He adds and I laugh.

"Yeah."

"And I know that Larry showed you that drawing of his. You know about the story." He declares. How quick of him to change the subject.

"He told me not to tell you."

"I know. I'm not vexed."

"Can you explain the story to me? He also said that only you can enlighten me on it." My voice is small, desperate in a sense.

"Not now Rayne."

I leave the subject as well. "Excuse me Mister, where are we going?"

"A zoo." He says.

"What?"

I'm shocked to find out that there's an actual zoo in this forest area, and the funniest yet most craziest part is that there's no cage, taming the animals. Well, the domestic ones aren't a problem and also, not the only ones being breed, but wild animals too. We just finished passing a tiger, where in the meanwhile, I almost enter Carl to make myself unseen. The most interesting part is that the tiger did nothing, but watched us as we walk past it, at the same time, it's absurd. I don't know how they manage to culture them to be un-barbarian. I thought I was going to pee on myself.

"This last look, and I'll take you home before you have a panic attack because of exploration." Carl says. One can hear the amusement lingering on his tone. He's mocking me indirectly. Exploration, he calls it? What a joker? This is something I'd define as a suicide.

"Okay." My voice is shaky. The fear had gripped me hard. Carl is enjoying off my scariness. "How are you guys able to control them? I mean, they are free and still have their attacking adaptive part, how come they haven't tried to escape and attack nearby habituated places?"

"They will not. Why? 'cause they've been domesticated in a way. We Wildlings have a relation that's tight with interacting with the wild. I guess that's where our name came from from the beginning." Carl stops talking and walking as well and that's when I realize we're in front of a lion. Holy shit!

With a countering shrill, I've backed away, preparing to run when Carl's voice manages to find their way into my ears.

"Calm, Rayne. If you run, he'd chase you." His voice almost sound cooing. I shiver in my standing position.

"Why the hell did you bring me here?"

"I wanted you scared." He says, laughing.

What? What logical reasoning is that?

"You're crazy." I shout at him.

"Okay, sorry. Actually he won't hurt you." He says. Almost immediately, the lion comes to sleep beside him.

"Get me out of here this instant." I shout again. It was interesting though, but also not cool at all.
