Chapter 21

Maxine’s POV

"IT'S BEAUTIFUL ..." I whispered softly as I sat down and looked up at the sky. We are currently in Lucas' oval, because it was nice to come out of the hall.

"It's too much ..." I heard it for the second time.

Observing the stars can relieve stress. they are like sands in abundance.

"I'm the biggest, huh!" I'm referring to the only star that stands out.

"I'm the one who pitched."

I frowned when I looked at Lucas who was lying on his two arms.

Tsk, said that, eh. it is not looking at heaven but at me.

"Are you teasing?"

He did not answer, but pulled me horizontally next to him.

"It's better to watch them when they're lying down."

This is correct. The beauty of them to watch.

"Maxine ..."

"Why?" I asked although still looking at the sky.

"Were you disappointed?"

I turned to Luke. It was only then that I noticed how close our faces were to each other.

I looked at the sky again. Just awkward.

"Why did you ask?" I asked looking at the sky as well.

"Nothing."

My ones grew on the glowing thing and quickly fell off.

"Shooting star!" tuwang usal ko sabay pikit.

After I said my dumb wish I opened my eyes. I turned to Lucas who was also closed.

I can’t help but be comforted. with its super wealth, it still wants to get it.

I stared at Luke's face. He’s almost PERFECT; map-eyes, nose, lips, and even the court of its face. Earlier, Luke had almost all the attention of the women in the hall. who would have thought a Harrison was with me now?

"Maybe I'll melt with that .."

I averted my eyes and refocused my attention on the stars. Did it already know that I was staring at him?

"What did you wish?" I heard its question.

I sneezed before speaking. “Yumaman. That way, I can lift Mom out of poverty. You?" I glanced at him.

I sneezed. I was touched by what it said. At the same time, I could not understand my heartbeat.

my God, it can’t be! I might lose our agreement. Can not!

I decided to get up.

"Uhm, I'm going home." I said while shaking the garment.

Luke also gets up. "I'll take you."

All I did was shake. I want to avoid him first.

"I insist." it insisted and started to walk.

I scratched my head so hard following it. I no longer have the right to refuse. I am his slave.

I FELT the cold air biting into my muscles while riding Luke's motorcycle.

"Hold on." I heard its command.

"Why?" I wondered. I hugged him.

"Just do what I said." this can be seen in irritation.

Eventually the seeming roar of an animal deceived. I feel a strange aura enveloping the surroundings. Scary.

“W-what’s that?” I asked trembling because of the cold and also triggered by fear.

Luke did not speak but accelerated the run even more. The night is getting a bit darker as well. The University I attend is far from the village of Isidro where I live.

a few moments later something big passed in front causing our vehicle to lose its balance.

I could feel the loud thud of the motorcycle and its still spinning.

three minutes --- I don't know how long I've been unconscious. I felt so heavy, I couldn't even move my body. Add to that my aching senses. I also catch my breath.

I slowly moved my head. then I saw Luke ‘not far from where I was. He was unconscious while lying on his back and his forehead was bleeding.

"L-Lucas ..." I called his name even though almost no voice came out of my mouth. "Lucas ..."

Gradually spinning around. I was dizzy and I felt very sick.

"Lucas ..." I sobbed and called her again.

My God, am I going to die?

Luke's hand moved slightly. It opened eyes. It looked exactly like my behavior.

"Maxine ..."

I was encouraged.

Luke's face was full of worry. it slowly stood up and walked in my direction. Although curious, I had better just put the growing doubt in my mind. How did it walk so well after what happened ?! It didn't seem to hurt at all.

"Oh God, are you okay?" worried its question. but instead of answering, my eyes widened staring at the creature from behind it, it was approaching where we were. I can't imagine what it looks like --- monster, that's the right description here.

Luke's persistence did not escape me.

to my surprise it closed my eyes with his hand. "I'll be back .."

I felt it stand up and step away.

Where is he going?!

Out of curiosity I opened my eyes ---.

..just to be surprised by what I saw.

it was like a piece of paper that Lucas lifted the motor and then threw it at I don't know what kind of animal was in front of it. Next was the heaviness of my eyelids.

Lucas’s POV

I SLIGHTLY loosened the wearing necktie as I approached the creature in front of me.

"You'll pay for what you did .." I went to the motorcycle and effortlessly threw it here --- at the same time my quick attack from the air.

I am the PRENSIPE of the CANIS, the Grandson of Alpha. And no one has the right to hurt me ..

... even the woman I will spend more time with.

AND Whoever bastard would dare to hurt HER will be facing HIS DEATH!

Although the creature escaped from the motorcycle I threw but not with my strong blow, it aimed at its left chest. That made a loud roar.

I landed not far from the creature’s back.

I then stood up and faced it while also looking in my direction. It covered the left breast with a series of wheezing, although there was no stopping the bleeding in that part.

"Need this?" I smiled at it while holding its heart with my right hand.

Once more the creature roared in anguish, forcing a step in my direction.

"Die ..." I whispered as I crushed the object in my hand. The creature collapsed.

I still don't have the ability to change my appearance, not until on my 21st birthday. But I have enough ability and strength to defend myself and the people I want to protect.

"WHAT went into your neck Lucas?" Ate looked at me with a smile. we are currently in my room now. It’s past Twelve in the midnight. "You should bring her to the hospital and not here."

I got the sense. I’m sitting on the single couch while staring at Maxine lying on my bed.

“Will you stop lecturing Lourine and just help me instead ..”i uttered in a weary voice. I can never forgive myself when something bad happens to Maxine.

Lourine heaved a sigh. "We're not done yet." then someone called on the phone. It walked towards the door. “May I speak to Dr. Chavez? ” I heard his question on the other line before finally leaving my room.

I was VERY nervous as I watched Ate and the female Doctor look at Maxine.

Strange, but only now am I worried like this for other people’s lives.

"How is she?" Ate asked the Doctor as she stood on the side of the bed and watched Maxine.

"She's fine ..."

It was as if a thorn had pulled me out. Somehow my anxiety lessened.

“He only sustained minor injuries. One or two days, he will be able to recover. She just needs some rest. ”

"Thank you Doc." ani Ate.

The Doctor just shook his head and smiled. "I'm just doing my job."

Ate also smiled and accompanied the Doctor to walk out of my room. "I'll take you."

“All right. It's a bit scary to travel alone. Your home is too far from town. ”

Ate smiled again. "Yes, Doctor."

I got up and went to bed. I sat on the side of Maxine's head with the back leaning against the headboard. I bent down slightly and raised my elbow on the pillow to observe it.

"I'm sorry ..." I whispered softly as I ran my fingers across his face. “You are still touched. if it weren’t for me it wouldn’t have happened. ”

I was stunned. Other CANIS have found out where I am.

I stroked Maxine's face once more and then gave her a kiss on the forehead.

Author’s POV

LUKE was startled by a series of knocks on the door. The young man lazily got up from lying on the couch and stared at the clock on the wall. It's past eight in the morning. he stood up and headed for the door. Manang Ebeth was the one who introduced him.

"What is it?" he asked the maid who was obviously still drowsy.

“You are supposed to have breakfast together today. Your grandfather ordered it. "

the young man did not seem to like what the latter said because of the slight arching of his eyebrow.

"I'll be right next." its cold response and turned away from the old man.

AT THE end of the table, Lucas sat facing his Abuelo. James and Divina are on the left, while Lourine is on the opposite side.

"How was your sleep, my dear Grandson?" the old man asked as he watched Apo closely.

Lucas stopped eating and looked at Abuelo.

“It was good. I just kind of woke up. ” its response could not hide the sarcasm in the voice.

"Lucas ..." James scolded the Son. The young man just smiled wryly and looked at Father. “Show some respect. He’s still your Grandfather. ”

"Let him go, James ..." the old man snatched, although he didn't take his eyes off Apo.

The whole dining room fell silent. It was suddenly filled with tension between the three men while Divina and Lourine were just quietly listening.

"It looks like you have a special treatment with that woman ..." the old man smiled meaningfully and looked at Lucas who was also looking at him. “Let me remind you Grandson. You are an EXAMPLE. People like him are not suitable for us. ”

the young man's grip on the spoon tightened.

"But come to think of it ..." the old man added, seemingly pleased with Apo's visible reaction. “She’s pure and innocent. He can be hai--. ”

James and Divina looked at the Son.

“What ?!” James.

“Is that true Son?” full of concern Divina asked the Son.

"K-so d-bloody ---."

Luke looked at the older brother meaningfully for the reason that he did not continue to say anything.

"What do you mean, Lourine?" Divina turned to it.

“Nothing‘ Mom. Don’t mind me. ”

“How could you think of that?” and Don Facondo. "Can I do that to my own Grandson?"

Luke nodded. “Look who’s talking. You even killed your own Son, remember? ”

"Lucas is enough." rebuke of the young man's Father and Mother. But no one seems to have heard of the latter.

"Fernan broke the law so that thing happened." the old man said in a cold tone, as if he was not satisfied with what Apo said.

"But that is not enough reason to take the life of your own Son."

“The rule is rule. cANIS are not allowed to get attached with HUMAN! ”

Luke stood up and raised his hands on the table. He could not accept the twisted righteousness of his Abuelo.

“The hell I care with that damn rule. I have long forgotten where I came from. ”

after which Luke quickly left the dining room. The young man's mood was completely broken.
