Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Madison could not help but glance at Dylan and Scarlett from upstairs from time to time. While Madison was busy being a housemaid, endless conversation and laughter filled the living room. How Dylan and Scarlett talked could make anyone mistake them for getting back as couples.

"Jeez! Has it been a year since they saw each other?" Madison mumbled in annoyance. She turned around to focus on her job when she heard a faint laugh.

"Look who's getting jealous," Emily teased and pointed at Madison. The former even nudged the latter.

Rolling her eyes at Emily's nonsense, Madison retorted, "Jealous? I don't need to be." Madison moved the vacuum cleaner to distance herself from Emily.

But Emily moved closer and stared at Madison as if confirming something. "Come on, Madi, that's jealousy. Have you fallen in love with Sir Dylan?"

"Stop with your nonsense, Emily," Madison replied as she shook her head and explained, "I haven't fallen in love with him."

Emily grinned. "Really?" she teased. "That sounds like you're about to fall in love with him soon."

Madison bit her lips and mumbled, "Right." She covered her mouth as soon she realized what she had said.

"Oh my gosh…," Emily blurted out, feeling excited for Madison. The former teased the latter even more. "Madi, you're really in love!"

Madison glared at Emily and whispered, "Keep your voice low! They might hear you!" Madison glanced to the living room. Fortunately, nobody seemed to hear what Emily said. But Madison pouted at the sight of Scarlett leaning on Dylan.

Emily also watched Dylan and Scarlett. "Look at her," Emily said, "Are you sure she's not flirting with Sir Dylan?"

Madison thought about Emily's question. Madison stared at the two elite in the living room. "Do you think she's flirting with him, Emily?" Madison asked back. She had been catching Scarlett caressing Dylan but could not tell the ex-girlfriend's motive.

"What? I wasn't trying to accuse her, Madi," Emily replied, making fun of Madison's seriousness.

"Don't fool me, Emily," Madison threatened. But Emily only laughed, making Madison frown.

"You're too serious!" Emily commented in between her laughter and suddenly slapped Madison's arm.

"Emily!" Madison shouted, catching the attention of Dylan and Scarlett. Madison immediately flashed an apologetic smile.

"Is something wrong, Darling?" Dylan asked.

Before Madison could reply, Emily shouted, "Yes, Sir Dylan!" Madison nudged and pinched Emily at the side as a warning to shut her mouth.

"Nothing, Sir Dylan. Emily is just teasing me. Please go on with your conversation with Miss Scarlett," Madison explained and pulled Emily.

The contradicting response he got from Emily and Madison made Dylan ask, "Are you sure nothing's wrong, Darling?"

Madison nodded but murmured, "What can I say? You're obviously into talking with each other." She turned around, feeling annoyed.

But Dylan seemed to have heard something. He asked, "I'm sorry, darling, I didn't catch that. What did you say?"

"Nothing, Sir Dylan. Please go on with your conversation. It seems like Emily, and I are bothering you," Madison replied with her back facing the living room. She took the vacuum cleaner and marched to the other side to continue cleaning the floor.

"I didn't know you look cute when you're jealous," Emily remarked, persistent in teasing Madison.

Emily pinched Madison's red cheeks as though the former was still not satisfied teasing the latter.

Madison pursed her lips. "I'm already pissed off, so shut up, will you?" Emily could see that Madison was getting jealous, so the former made the gesture of zipping her lips. Madison still rolled her eyes despite Emily's compliance. As Madison continued cleaning, she avoided glancing at the two downstairs to save herself from intense irritability. 'If you keep looking at them, you might tie them together on the couch. It's not good for a maid to cause a scene,' she reminded herself whenever she was tempted to look.

When Madison and Emily finished cleaning upstairs, Dylan and Scarlett were surprisingly still talking. 'What else are they talking about? Are they talking about world history?' Madison thought to herself in disbelief.

"Their lunch is ready," Emily said. "Why don't you call them now, Madi?"

Madison gasped as she glared at Emily. "You enjoy pissing me off, Emily, don't you?" Madison took a deep breath. "I don't like how you tease me. You're so frustrating I can't help myself. I swear I might…." She no longer continued what she was saying upon seeing Emily smiling and shoving Madison into the living room.

Crossing her arms, Madison scoffed, "If it weren't for Ma'am Mila, I would push you to the living room." Seeing Emily's annoying smile, Madison shouted to the kitchen. "Ma'am! Emily says she misses you scolding her!"

"Don't mind, Madi, Ma'am! She's not being herself right now! She's bitter about something!" Emily also shouted.

Mila came out of the dirty kitchen holding a spoon and laughing. "How about I scold the two of you?" she warned, pointing at Emily and Madison.

"Right, I should call Sir Dylan now, Ma'am," Madison said and smirked at Emily.

Emily was laughing to the side until Mila stared at her. "I didn't do anything wrong, Ma'am. Madi was just kidding," Emily defended with a sulky pout.

"Scold her, Ma'am Mila. She's been so mean to me," Madison complained.

Mila frowned and asked, "Is that true, Emily?"

The hint of fright on Emily's face made Madison snicker, "You didn't listen to me when I told you to stop teasing me. Look at you now." Madison shook her head as she suppressed a laugh.

"Go away, Madi. Tell Sir Dylan and that bitch… I mean his guest," Emily corrected, "that lunch is ready."

Hearing profanity come out of the mouth of the young maid closest to Mila made her look serious. "Don't say that again, Emily," Mila reminded.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am," Emily apologized and promised, "I won't say it again."

When Mila nodded and returned to the kitchen, Madison smirked at Emily and hurried to the living room to catch Scarlett and Dylan embracing each other. Jealousy grew wilder inside Madison now. 'Is she deliberately being sweet to Sir Dylan in front of me?' she contemplated.

Scarlett looked at Madison. A smirk formed on her lips as her arms pulled Dylan closer.

'What a bitch,' Madison whispered to herself in disdain. The jealousy she had been feeling had been driving her to act and think in stupid ways. Trying to regulate her feelings this time, she convinced herself not to do anything she would regret later. Scarlett wanted Madison to do something stupid. But the woman that Dylan liked now would not give his ex-girlfriend satisfaction. At the same time, Madison would not believe Scarlett anymore.

Standing at a distance, Madison called the two. "Excuse me, Sir Dylan and Miss Scarlett. Your lunch is now ready. Perhaps your long conversation is over, and you can now come to the dining table," she said with a sarcastic tone and left. Aware of how she sounded as a maid, she thought, 'Who cares if they see me as rude? Don't I have the right to be jealous?'

Feeling betrayed, Madison went straight to the dirty kitchen and let Emily serve Dylan and Scarlett. 'I'm afraid I might pour pumpkin soup on them!' Madison thought, replaying the burning sweetness between Scarlett and Dylan earlier in her head.

"Sir Dylan is calling you to join them," Emily said, interfering with Madison's thoughts.

With a frown on her forehead, Madison looked at Emily in disbelief. 'Are they going to piss me this much?' she thought. She remained seated and disagreed, "Seriously? Let them eat together."

"If you don't show up at the table, he'll throw away all the meals Ma'am Mila prepared," Emily said in a serious tone.

'What?! Ma'am Mila spent hours preparing the dishes! How heartless could he be?! I can't stand them! He's getting into my nerves!' Madison screamed inwardly. "Get out of my way!" she yelled, pushing Emily aside.

Madison strode to the dining room. Just when she thought nothing else could ruin her day, she found Scarlett serving Dylan while sitting on his lap. Madison caught Dylan driving his ex-girlfriend away while they were both chuckling.

With a crook smile on her face, Madison grabbed the platter of the Cobb salad from Scarlett's hand.

"Sir Dylan doesn't like it when others serve him," Madison said without looking at the two at the table. She served some salad on Scarlett's plate and went on to say, "Take a seat, Miss Scarlett. You're pregnant. Pregnant women shouldn't miss meals to help keep their baby safe."

Madison turned to Dylan and placed the platter of salad and the other dishes in front of him. "You're not crippled, Sir Dylan. I believe you can serve food for yourself," she casually said.

Dylan was about to speak, but Madison continued, "Maids know their places. They don't join their bosses at the dining table. Isn't that right, Miss Scarlett?" She smiled and added, "Please enjoy your lunch." Before Dylan could speak, Madison left the two in the dining room.
