Chapter 5: Chapter 5
Grandma Marita (Witch Song)
The policemen came within the space of ten minutes and took the body of Julia to the nearest hospital immediately.
"What happened?" One of the police men, John, who was left behind to question the girls, asked the twins.
"We don't know good officers," Arabella began, speaking up before her twin could, "I and my twin sister were playing when we suddenly heard the shout of our mother and we ran up to her room and found out she was struggling for her life."
"Oh it must be awful to you both, don't worry, your mother will be fine." The policeman said, trying to give them hope.
"Thank you, good officer." Arabella said crying and hugging Aurora.

Julia was pronounced dead by the doctor in charge on the arrival of the policemen.
"She died before she was brought here." The doctor continued. "It's too late officers." They kept Julia's body at the mortuary owned by the hospital.
The policemen went back to inform the kids and Arabella cried the loudest as soon as they were told. Hitting and rolling herself on the floor as the police tried to hold her, pitying her.
"Do you have any living relatives?" The same policeman, John, who had stayed behind with them, asked.
"Yes officer." Aurora spoke up beating her twin sister to it.
"Who can that be?" John asked
Ignoring Arabella glares, Aurora answered. "My grandmother Marita is from my mother's side, but she's sick and bedridden officer."
"Where does she live?" He demanded.
"It's an hour drive from here, officer." Aurora replied.
"Do you know the way to her house?" He queried.
"Yes officer."
"Okay, lock up this place let's drive you girls to meet your grandma Marita." The officer said and they did exactly that. Some of the policemen went back to the station and one followed the officer who was questioning both girl's.
One Hour Later met Arabella, Aurora and the two policemen at the neat bungalow of Mrs Marita which was flooded with lights.
The housekeeper who worked for Marita opened the door once she saw the twins.
She offered the policemen a seat which they gently declined and requested to see Marita immediately.
"Okay officers." The housekeeper said and asked the girls with her eyes 'What's the problem'? And when both ignored her stares, she went into one of the rooms and came out with Grandma Marita, who was wheeled out of her room.
"What happened Aurora?" The old woman with white hair who looked to be her early 100s asked.
"It's your daughter Mrs Marita." John answered and went on to explain about her death and which hospital she is. "I am so sorry Mrs Marita."
"Thank you." Marita said and the two police men left. "Take me back to my room and Arabella and Aurora come with me." She said and the housekeeper did as instructed.
She wanted to carry Marita and place her on her bed but the old woman refused. "Don't worry my grandchildren are here, they will help me." She told the housekeeper. "You can go Lily."
The housekeeper (Lily) left her room and motion for the girls to sit on her bed which she did. "Why did you do that Arabella, killing Julia?" Marita asked surprising Aurora the most.
"You see the reason why I never wanted to tell the police we have a psycho grandmother?" She directed her statement to Aurora.
"Don't call grandmother that Arabella." Aurora said softly. "She is way older than you and deserves some respect."
"Respect my foot." Arabella said angrily and stood up from the bed, "I am done for tonight, I am going to sleep." She added and wanted to walk out of the room but Marita's voice stopped her.
"You have drawn the attention of an evil eye to you Arabella."
Ignoring that, Arabella walked out angrily.
"Do not follow her path Aurora, doom awaits the path she chose to walk." Marita said and yawned. "I feel sleepy, can you please-" she didn't get to complete her statement when Aurora interrupted her.
"Of course grandma." She said knowing what her grandmother wanted to tell her. She carried the light old lady carefully and dropped her on the bed. Before Marita's head would touch her pillow, she had slept off. Kissing her grandmother's forehead gently. "Goodnight grandmother." She left her room and headed for the room she shared with her twin whenever they paid a visit to their grandmother.
"I hope you didn't tell that psycho anything?" Arabella asked immediately Aurora was in the room, her tone cold.
"No, I didn't breathe a word to Grandma after you left. She slept off almost immediately."
"Good." Arabella said and her voice changed and was low. "What happened back in the house, you know it was a mistake, right?"
"I know." Aurora answered.
"Thank you sis for not ranting me out." Arabella said smiling.
Aurora smiled back.

One week Later, Julia was laid to rest amidst tears.
____
8pm
"Aurora, come." Marita whispered to the girl who was in her room. Since the night the incidence happened, they have been living with her.
Aurora stood up from the ground where she was reading a novel and went to sit on the bed, holding her grandmother's hand.
"I am here Grandma."
"There is something you must know, Aurora." Marita said and continued. "My great grandmother is not from here."
"I don't understand you grandma."
"She was not from this Realm, where she came from was a different Realm. She was a powerful sorceress in that Realm, but she and her sister, who is as powerful as her, got into a fight and she left the Realm for this."
"I still don't understand you grandma."
"Do you believe in the supernatural? Fairies, goblins, elves, mermaids, vampires, witches, dragons, etc?"
"They only exist in novels grandma."
"No, they truly exist but they are in a different Realm and that Realm is where my great grandmother is from." Marita told her. "When she came here, she realised she was aging like the rest of the humans and when she tried to find out why, she was shown a vision. A descendant of hers will have to help someone whom her sister will place a powerful curse on and will be the one to end her life. I thought I would be the one but I wasn't, nor was Julia and now the lot has fallen on you. Arabella has a dark heart like my great grandmother's sister, but you have a pure heart."
"Are you trying to say I have the blood of a Witch and I will lift up a curse I know nothing of?"
"Yes Aurora, It's the blood of the Ancients that runs through our veins and the forms pass, but the circle of life remains and now it is your turn." Marita said softly. "I am old now and most of my powers are long gone." She added.
"What if I am not the one grandma, what if it is one of my children?"
"No, you have a pure heart and the gods have chosen you, once you enter the Realm with the cursed one, you will understand." Marita told Aurora and lifted the locket necklace she always wore and opened it, in it was a shiny diamond and she gave it to Aurora who collected it. "Keep that with you always for the battle you are going to embark on will be a tough one. Do not allow your twin sister to see this, protect it."
"What is this grandmother?" Aurora asked in awe of the shiny diamond which seemed to glow the more once it touched her fingers.
"That is my great grandmother's powers. To unlock the powers within it, you will have to sing the Witch song, draw your head nearer, let me whisper the song into your ear." Marita said and Aurora did as told. "The song goes like this;
'Mother Earth
I offer to you this song
For I am earth
and to the Earth, I belong
Mother Earth
help me grow as you need me to
Mother Earth
show me what I am here to do
Cause I am growing, I am changing
on this darkest day
I am growing, I am changing
in my darkest place
I am growing, I am changing
on this darkest day
I am growing, I am changing
in my darkest place'
"Sing it only when you have entered the Realm with the cursed one and don't worry, you will find the curse one." Marita said and Aurora straightened up. Marita gave the locket to Aurora to keep the diamond inside. "Remember, do not show Arabella this or let her see it. Keep it safe."
Arabella stood on the door eavesdropping on their conversation.
