Chapter 70: Chapter 70
I don't know how many minutes I've been staring at the ceiling of my apartment. The moment I entered the house, I immediately went to my room and lay down. I kept thinking about what Agustine did, but no matter how deep I thought about it, I didn't really know why he was acting like that.
I just closed my eyes and massaged my forehead. "I left my car," I uttered, and shook my head.
“Who picks up people in the middle of their work? I mean, it should be after work!" I talked to myself.
Instead of getting crazy thinking about it, I just neglected the thought. My time is too important to be squandered on him. I rested for a while and then did my normal daily routine; clean myself, dress up, cook, eat, and so on. When the night came while preparing for sleep, something suddenly entered my brain that crept me out.
No, it's impossible.
He doesn't have a crush on me, does he?
I cringed.
"What the hell are you thinking, Khrystal? Just go to sleep because you need to catch up the first trip tomorrow,” I said to myself and tried to close my eyes.
At first, I couldn't sleep, but maybe I was determined not to think about anything, my eyes eventually gave up. I woke up earlier than usual. Maybe it's because I did not stay up late last night. Instead of wasting time, I started fixing myself and did my daily routine.
It was six o'clock when I finished getting ready. I was checking myself in front of my vanity mirror when I heard the familiar sound of an engine outside my apartment. My eyebrows furrowed when I peeked out the window. My lips automatically parted after I had processed what I saw.
What is he doing here?
In a smooth move, Agustine went out after the car was parked. Wearing his casual business suit, he leaned against his car and looked at his expensive wristwatch. I swallowed a lump in my throat and rubbed my head as if it was floating at this moment.
Later, I saw him take his cell phone out of his pocket and type on it. The moment he put it on his ear, my phone rang. That was when I came back to my senses. I quickly ran towards my bedside table. I grabbed my phone and took a deep breath before sliding it up to answer.
"H-Hello?" I bit my lower lip to suppress my stutter.
"I am here outside," he said.
I know. I saw you.
I was silent for a moment. I don't know what to reply.
I should ask him why he's here, right? But why am I afraid to raise that question?
“I'm here to pick you up. I know you don't have your car," Agustine spoke after the short silence.
I simply nodded and tried to act normal.
Calm down, Khrystal. Maybe he just wanted something to be done this morning.
"Okay,” I replied and then hung up, not waiting for his answer.
I quickly took my bag and checked my things inside. After making sure that I didn't forget anything else, I went out of my apartment and locked the door. My chest was pounding as I walked by. I don't know why I reacted like this.
Now that I have decided to be casual with him and just do work, he would be like this. What game is he playing? As far as I remember, he didn't like me. He wanted my life to be my living hell. Why is he suddenly becoming…kind? Considerate?
Argh! Whatever.
I averted my eyes while walking towards the direction of his car. I don't know if it's obvious, but I don't want to look at him. I felt like his eyes were a trap the moment I looked at them.
He opened the passenger's door for me. I just thanked him softly and quickly sat down inside. While I was attaching the seatbelt, I saw him, in the corner of my eyes, walking towards the driver's seat.
"Have you eaten breakfast yet?"
I straightened up in my seat when he suddenly asked. I could feel him looking at me and waiting for me to answer.
"Yes, I have," I replied, while still not turning my head to him.
He went silent after that. My chest pounded twice because he hadn't started his engine yet. It was as if he was still waiting for me to look at him. In surrender, I slowly turned my eyes away.
He's sternly staring at me. Not angry, not annoyed, but apprehensive and analyzing.
"Are you mad at me?" he asked.
I cleared my throat and averted my gaze. I replied formally, "I am not mad, Mr. Revelar."
"Just pissed, then?" he asked quickly.
I didn't answer right away. I heard him sigh before starting his engine. I thought he wouldn't ask any more questions or keep quiet when the car started, but I was wrong.
"I knew... I went overboard," I heard him murmur.
I used to avert my gaze from him, but now I did it on purpose. He was looking at the road.
"I'm..." He cleared his throat. "Sorry." Then he glanced at me.
I am too stunned to speak.
"I mean it," he added, and put his eyes on the road again.
I blinked several times as I stared at him.
Was he possessed by a lost soul?
Agustine licked his lower lip and muttered a soft curse. "Talk to me, Khrystal," he uttered softly, looking back and forth at me and on the road.
What can I say? I'm not even ready for this. Who would have thought that the man who was angry with me would suddenly apologize?
"Khrys—"
"You don't have to apologize, Sir," I cut in, staring out the window. "It doesn't matter if I am mad or pissed. I will still obey your orders. If you are worried that you will lose a servant or someone to fuck, don't worry. I will not break the agreement. You don't have to do that. We both know how furious you are at me," I added, directly on point.
Yes. That's it. There is no other reason for him to suddenly change.
No one spoke among us after that. He kept on driving. I simply looked and saw his serious gaze on the road.
His firm grip on the steering wheel did not escape my sight either.
I laughed emptily in the back of my mind.
Did I hit the bull's eye?
Instead of paying attention to him, I just focused my attention on the road. Even though I could feel the weight of the aura of this man, I didn't bother anymore.
A few minutes had passed, and he finally parked outside the company. As I expected, there were only a few people. I detached the seatbelt from my body and stepped out of the car.
"Thank you," I simply stated, and closed his car door.
I caught sight of Agustine's shaking his head before it closed. I was about to walk into the company when he also got out of his car. He fixed his coat and raised an eyebrow at me when he noticed me observing him.
"Do you need anything else?" I asked.
A ghost smile appeared on his lips. "I'm going to work," he said.
My brows furrowed. As if on cue, I heard my father's voice.
"Mr. Revelar!" he cheerfully called.
He came out of the company and immediately greeted the man I was with. Daddy nodded at me for a moment, and then they both shook hands.
“It's a good thing I came here early today. You didn't tell me you were coming today," my dad stated.
Agustine smiled sparingly. "Sorry," he simply responded to Daddy.
I secretly rolled my eyes. It's his word of the day today, sorry.
"Oh, no! Don’t be. I'm the one who should apologize. I'm sorry if it took a few weeks to get your office here," Dad uttered.
I was thrown off my feet when I heard that.
What? Office?
Slowly, my eyes went to Agustine. He gently licked his bottom lip and smiled.
“It's fine, Mr. Dagsinal. As long as you do me the favor I am asking for," he said with a mischievous grin.
"Oh! Of course,” Daddy said before looking at me.
He gently took my arm and guided me to his side. Because of the shock, I simply followed. “I already fixed my daughter's work. She'll be assisting you with everything, as you requested."
My eyes went wide. Agustine could clearly see my reaction because we were facing each other.
"I am glad to know that I am working with my person," he stated, flashing a secret smirk at the end.
