Chapter 23: Chapter 23
I was out of myself as I am walking back to my ex-husband’s room while carrying the coffee he asked for when Stacey greeted me.
"Here!" she roughly handed me the keycards which surprised me and spilt some coffee onto my hand.
I just frowned and quickly accepted the three keycards she gave me.
She really wants me to suffer.
"Make sure you are not making mistakes anymore, Jazzie." She widened her eyes at me in threat.
"No need for that."
We were both stunned when someone spoke behind us. We both looked at Valjerome who's sternly watching us.
"Sir," Stacey said immediately and bowed slightly in respect, I remained standing because of the coffee I was carrying.
Valjerome started walking closer in my direction and then laid out his palm in front of me. "Give me the cards," he said.
I raised an eyebrow, but he didn't bother to pay attention to it. Instead he took the keycards in my hand. I even flinched a little when his hand touches mine.
After getting them, he turned his gaze to Stacey. “I need one more housekeeper,” he said.
Stacey's forehead furrowed in astonishment and quickly returned to normal. "Noted, Sir," she answered and started grabbing her phone.
"From now on, I want her exclusively mine."
My lips parted as Stacey shuddered in her position.
"W-What?" asked Stacey, puzzled.
Valjerome stood straight and put his hand on his pocket then glanced at me. "She's my personal assistant. I need her everytime so exclude her from work and¾bring that coffee to my suite," he commanded next.
I could do nothing but follow because I slowly felt Stacey staring at me.
Damn. Exclusive?
I have just put the coffee on the center table when I heard the door open along with his footsteps. I thought he was going to sit straight on the couch and drink his coffee but he continued to walk towards his room.
I am telling you, he's just ordering me to torture!
I was about to turn around and leave when he came out of the room again.
"Do you need anything else?" I formally inquire.
My forehead furrowed when I saw the first aid kit he was carrying.
"Sit," he said in a cold voice as he walked closer to my direction.
"What?" I wondered.
He sighed in front of me and gently held my hand. I was stuck in my position and did not immediately move due to extreme shock.
"Next time, drop the coffee instead of hurting yourself," he softly murmured.
"W-What are you doing?" I stammered and then raised my hand.
"Sit down, Jazzie. Let me treat you," he said.
It was only then when I realized what he was about to do. I looked at my hand and noticed the red mark on it.
"No, it's okay. It's just a small burn," I said.
I shrieked when he pulled my arm, causing me to fall on the couch. "It's an order," he coldly stated.
I did not bother to argue anymore. As of now, he is my boss and I am his employee.
He quietly treated the burn on my hand using the medicine in the first aid kit. Lightly and carefully, he rubbed an ointment there. He even blew it a little as if it will sting me.
"Thanks," I said softly and immediately pulled back my hand once I saw that he had finished treating it.
I averted my eyes and waited for him to stand up from kneeling. He probably felt that so he slowly stood up and left me. He walked towards the opposite side of the sofa and took a seat. Later, he took the cup of coffee and sipped it.
"Why does my coffee taste like this?" Valjerome raised his cup.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Doesn't it taste like coffee?" I said then slowly stood up.
He rested deeply then put the cup back to the center table. "You know I prefer brewed coffee, Jazzie," he uttered.
"I know? I am sorry, Sir, but I don't know anything about you," I said emotionlessly, trying to suppress the anger building in my chest.
Right, Jazzie. Act like he's nothing. No, he's really nothing.
He scoffed. "Really? You'll treat me like this?"
What treatment does he expect me to do?
I secretly clenched my fist. "Is there something wrong with my treatment, Sir?"
He did not speak, he just stared at me for a while then stood up from the sofa. He took the coat he had taken off earlier and put it on.
"Don't give me an instant coffee next time," he said and left..
I blinked the moment I heard the door close. I slowly faced the direction he was coming out and then smirked.
"Too demanding. Thanks to me, I even bought a twin pack. Tss!"
As a cleaner, I picked up the cup of coffee and headed to the kitchen to clean it up. I was about to enter the room to change the bed sheet of his bed when the door opened.
"Ken?" I asked astonishingly.
He smiled sparingly at me and then continued to enter with his trolley. "Does he want his room to be cleaned more?" he said and inspected the entire room.
"Where's Erom?" I asked instead of answering him.
"I left him in the staff's room for a while."
"Alone?"
"Yes. Stacey ordered me to clean some rooms as well as others."
I bit my lower lip as I thought of my son being alone in the room. I couldn’t help but worried about him. Although I want to always play next to him, I also have responsibilities.
"Why didn't you just bring him here? Your guest isn't demanding and also your son is behaved."
I can only imagine what he said made my hair stand on end in fear. I averted my eyes and laughed raw.
"Next time, when the guest is different. It's hard for now, we also don't know their attitude," I explained.
Ken nodded as if he understood what I was saying.
"Alright, then. Thanks again, Ken, for looking out at him. I'll go ahead," I said and started walking.
I was in front of the door when I looked back at him again. "By the way, I already cleaned the outside. Just clean the room and the bathroom."
"That is why I admire you, Jazzie."
While Ken was speaking, the door suddenly opened. My eyes widened and receded at close proximity to Valjerome's distance causing me to almost fall over. If his arm didn’t wrap around my waist immediately, I probably fell to the floor.
"You like her?" Valjerome said in an icy tone as he looked at Ken the moment he released me.
Ken seemed surprised at his posture so he stood up straight. "I mean I like to work with her," he replied, sweating.
Valjerome didn't speak and just glanced at me. "Your number," he uttered.
I gave him a confused look.
He sighed and handled his phone in front of me. "I need your number in case I need something so I can call you directly," he stated.
I stared at his phone. Doubting whether I would give it to him or not. I don't want any communication with him. I feel like my world will get smaller. In the end, I could do nothing but took it.
Well, I can change my number when he left.
As if he will talk to me after this.
I typed my number and gave back his phone. He pressed it for a moment and then put the phone to his ear.
On cue, my heart throbbed in anxiety.
No, no, no. My prince, don't answer the call.
"Did you really give me the right number?" Valjerome spoke coldly as he stared at me. "I can't hear any phones ringing right now," he added, still on his phone.
"I-I forgot it in our staff room," I claimed, nervously.
He remained staring at me, critiquing. Later, he slowly put down his phone and put it in his pocket.
"Next time, bring it with you. I have important things to order sometime. You know that," he said.
I wanted to answer him again that I didn't know anything about him but because of the nervousness I felt earlier, I lost the strength to speak any more. I only nodded.
He glared at us and then turned his back on us and walked away. I automatically fell to the floor as soon as his figure disappeared from my sight.
"Jazzie!" Ken shouted worriedly and quickly supported me to get up. "Are you okay?"
"I am fine. I'm just a little dizzy." I forced myself to calm down and thanked in my mind.
Good thing, I have taught Erom not to answer unregistered numbers back then.
