Chapter 21: Chapter 21
"What do you want?" I spoke seriously when we left the office.
I couldn’t do anything since the owner of the hotel himself decided for me. I can't refuse because I don't want to make everything more complicated.
Why am I affected? I can act civil for Pete's sake.
Who is he in my life? He's just my ex-husband.
He stood up straight and lazily scanned me from head to toe. "You've changed a lot, huh?" he said mockingly.
I feel like he was referring to my position which has changed.
"What do you want? And wait, are you following me?" I was a little nervous when that thought entered my mind.
He scoffed. "I did not follow you," he answered and licked his lower lip. "Aren't you happy to see me?" His side lips rose.
"Why would I be glad to see you?" I replied sarcastically.
He shrugged and put his hand on his pocket. "Maybe...you miss me," I heard him murmured before he started walking.
The audacity of this man.
I controlled my breath then followed his steps. I even saw Jaime greet my ex-husband and was slightly taken aback when he saw me.
Yeah, surprise!
I bit my lower lip as soon as I passed him by. He bowed to me as if I was still a respected wife of his master.
We silently walked into his suite. I don't know why I followed him even though he didn't say so, maybe because I also want to talk to him to stop this mania.
He took off his coat and threw it on the couch. He looked at me for a while and then sat down.
He changed a lot too. His body became more muscular and his hair became long.
“If you think I meant all this, you are mistaken,” he said in an emotionless tone.
I nodded and crossed my arms. "Pigs can fly," I uttered. "That's why you hired me as your assistant."
He smirked and leaned on his seat. "You are the one I chose so everything will be easy for me. You know the work I do so I don't have to kill you afterwards," he said.
I gritted my teeth and controlled my anger. "It's really easy for you to kill, isn't it?" I said sarcastically.
His eyes went cold. I also noticed his jaw clenched.
'Calm down, Jazzie. This is not the right time to burst out your anger.’ I mentally noted to myself.
"Clean my suite," he said, emotionless, then stood up from his seat.
He silently went into the room and left me alone in the living area. I closed my eyes tightly and controlled my breathing. I feel like I’m going to cry in frustration.
You can do this, Jazzie. Just be patient for a moment.
After a few seconds of deep breathing, I started to move. I picked up the extra rag and wiped the ones to be wiped. Sweep here, mop there, vacuum here, wipe there¾my typical daily routine.
The suite wasn't that dirty but I made sure he won’t critique my cleaning. I was tying up the trash bag when I heard the room door open. I didn’t look at him and just continued what I was doing.
"Here," I heard him spoke from behind me.
I was shocked by the closeness of our distance with each other the moment I looked back at him.
"It's yours," he claimed.
It was only then that I was able to notice what he was handing me—my necklace.
I tried to erase all my emotions and then face the trash again. "Take it. I don't need that anymore," I uttered and took the garbage out from the trash bin.
I was about to walk away when I felt him hold my arm. I immediately dismissed that and looked sharply at him.
"DON'T. TOUCH. ME. VALJEROME," I said emphatically.
He seemed surprised at my posture based on the rise of his shoulder and the slight widening of his eyes. He also recovered immediately and then played with the necklace in his hand.
"Why do you still have this then?" he asked, acting confused.
“I’ll pawn it when I’m became poor,” I quickly replied. "Those are diamonds. So I think, instead of throwing it, it would become useful someday.”
You can't beat me this time.
Valjerome's jaw clenched as his eyes went darker. "Where was the money I gave you then?"
I automatically raised an eyebrow. "Why do you care? That's now my money."
He shut his eyes and took a deep breath. I don’t know if he’s controlling his anger or just frustrated. Either way, I don’t care.
“Get me a cup of coffee,” he ordered.
I looked at him with disbelief.
"What? I told you, I chose you to be my P.A," he pointed out.
I secretly closed my mouth. "I didn't know it includes brewing of coffee," I said sarcastically.
"It's all around," he stated.
I didn’t argue anymore and without a word, I walked out of his suite. I even saw Jaime on the side of the door who was guarding his boss’s safety.
"You don't have to guard him. Even rats will automatically run when they see him," I teased him and continued walking.
I was only six steps away when I heard Jaime chase. I frowned at him.
"Where are you going?" he asked politely and formally.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "I'll get coffee for the weed that is in the room you're guarding," I answered directly.
He hesitatingly asked as he held his nape. "Ma'am...there's a coffee in the suite."
Gradually, everything went back to my reality. I felt my cheek warmed as I thought of my own stupidity.
"I will give him poisoned coffee, why?" I sighed and quickly turned away.
I almost run just to get away from the place immediately.
Damn, Jazzie. You fvcked up.
I was in that situation when my phone rang. I took it out of my pocket and looked at the screen. My eyes widened when I read Chaos ’message, that’s when I just remembered something.
[The driver is on his way to school to pick up Erom. He will wait him there. I will message you when they are off to meet you.]
My child!
