Chapter 77: Chapter 77

Chapter 76 Yacht Party

“Will you be at your mother’s engagement party?” Mrs. Coleman asked, washing the dishes and at the same time stealing a glance at Kate who was heating up herself by the fireplace n the kitchen.

Winter was just hanging by her ears and spine these days; even night was the worst hours for her to dwell. And recently she had come to realize she was hornier at night than every other hour, especially when winter was very much in the atmosphere. She had begged Mrs. Coleman to make provision for a fire place in Brian’s room, being the room she was staying, and she was still looking forward to getting her demand.

“I have no business with her or anything that has to do with her,” she said in one breath.

And Mrs. Coleman glared at her and quietened. For a few seconds nothing made a noise, no one uttered a word, than the clattering of ceramics dishes, and stainless cutleries in the water-filled sink.

“What do you mean? Do you have another mother?” she asked and paused to behold the mouth with which Kate had been using to talk to her. She once knew Kate as that calm, meek, well reserved girl who couldn’t squash an ant. But now she was much of a talker.

“I wish I had, probably one with decency and sense, who wouldn’t file a divorce to her husband in jail,” she replied Mrs. Coleman who was already making dough. She turned on the knob on the oven, before she tilted her gaze to Kate.

“I never supported her on that one…”

She was on the verge of making an utterance when Kate interrupted her, “she ceased to be my mother the day she took that decision. Common how could she be so cruel and inconsiderate?”

Mrs. Coleman blinked at the veins that wired across her face as she spoke and she sensed she was losing it now. She was not just in to perk her up if she broke down in tears. And she wished she could switch the topic.

“As for her decision about divorcing your father I will break words with her and make her have a u-turn, OK”

“Does she look like one that would heed to advice?”

Mrs. Coleman walked to her side. “I will break words with her, angel’s poop,” she said nicely rubbing her shoulders and casting a startling stare upon the oven at the sound of the alarm. “Our velvet cake is ready.” She walked to the oven and turned off the knob. “You would be much lonely by the time my husband and I would be gone for the party.” She fetched the cake and swirled to Kate. “You need to socialize after what happened to you. Who knows you could find true love again at the party,” she watched her jaw drop in sadness as her eyes flamed like a burning coal tar. She knew she had rattled someone’s cage and Kate wasn’t going to take it lightly with her. How do you want your…”

She didn’t finfish her statement when Kate cut in. “I thought I mentioned not to be associated with love, whether true or false.” Her hot eyes could boil water, as she widened them at her beholder. “I have lost my appetite. Good night.” She said and had a walk.

“Calm down, Kate,” Mrs. Coleman called on.

But then she had taken a walk, shuffling her way through.

Mr. and Mrs. Coleman were dazzling in the glory of the night. Mrs. Coleman donned a black short party gown with shiny stones scattered over it and her feet in a stiletto that left her hips rigid and plump. Mr. Coleman had a tuxedo and a bow tie.

“What about Kate? Is she not joining us?” Mr. Coleman inquired, adjusting his bow tie in the mirror.

She was lost about what to reply. “She is supposed to join us. I will go just now to check on her,” she said, and took one step at a time up the staircase.

The moment she opened the door, behold the angel of the night flashing into her eyes and looking all seductive in off-shoulder gown that slit between her legs. Those stilettos of hers sampled hot legs that were unavoidable

“Shall we,” Mrs. Coleman said, gesturing at Kate follow her led.

“I am doing this because of the respect I have for you,” Kate said and Mrs. Coleman held her hands and smiled.

“Thank you heaven’s red wine, and for the records you look elegantly exceptional tonight,” she commended on her looks.

And Kate gave an appreciative smile at her and they dispatched at once.

They had planned a yacht party that could accommodate only fifty guests but they forgot to budget for gate crashers. The yacht was filled up with gorgeously looking guest who exchanged pleasantries with one another and possessed the whole yacht with noise.

Mrs. Fanny was almost everywhere at every spot and with everyone smiling, laughing and discussing. She had told Kate to join her but Kate had opted to sit back and watch on.

Kate found herself a seat by the corner. She had cautioned herself not to eat and drink. All along she had been staring at her mother and Ken who had guests up their sleeves. They barely could have a time of their own as they busied themselves with exchange of pleasantries. The smirk of happiness on Mrs. . Fanny’s face was an evident that of a truth divorce was a thing for her. As soon as their stares clicked Kate disappeared from her spot and left for outside, trying to avoid any discussion with her.

The chilly wind at the sea swept across Kate as her hair fluttered behind her neck. She had her gaze to the tranquil sea as the yacht took a still position. Just then a tattooed hand came on her shoulders. She glanced at it and knew at that moment it was who she never expected to see even when she looked forward to running into him one of these days.

She shoved off his hand and kept to her gaze at the sea.

“What are you doing here?” her voice was down and respectful but if her receiver wanted a rather harsh voice she was ready and eager to do so.”

“And you never told me of your mother’s engagement party on the yacht,” Tony said.

He was in a cowboy hat, a cigar in his mouth, a jacket across heavy chest he earned from push-up, a jean on his waist, and a boot decorated his feet. He wished Kate could turn around and see the changes that had taken place in his looks within a short while and what she was missing.

“I would rather invite the devil and his cohorts than invite the devil’s son himself,” Kate said and finally swirled around.

“Did you miss me?” Tony asked, smacking his lips, placing his hand on his chest and the zipper on his jean, seductively reminding her of the hot, engaging sex she had missed.

Would Kate be charmed to him again...?
