Chapter 61: Chapter 61

Chapter 61 The secret is revealed partly

Brian was at the grave of Mr. Biscuit, staring at its picture recalling his experience with the genius pet and how much he was going to miss it; within himself he had decided not to have a pet any more Mr. Biscuit was the second and would be the last. He grinned painfully before he squatted to lay the flower at its grave. As he did and rose to his feet a slight pat from a female hand came on his shoulder.

He flinched like a mouse from fire. “Oh God you startled me,” he said, rolling his eyes at Meyer. “How many times am I going to tell you to stop frequenting here? I don’t want to see you in my life neither does grandma. You embody loss and pain. Since I knew you it has been from one dilemma to the other. Your presence in my life has nurtured nothing but ruin and peril. I don’t want to hurt you. But if you force me, you will regret knowing Brian. Leave this moment,” he barked, pointing at the exit.

Meyer’s eyes were welled up with tears instantly. “Why do you always make me feel like a murderer…?”

Brian cut in, “What are you before, a saint. I make you feel like a murderer because that is what you are. Each time you cross my path, death crosses. Grandma was hospitalized because of you. Mr. Biscuit kicked the bucket because of you. Who knows if I won’t die some day because of you? You are a carrier of evil so let me be please.”

“And all these happen for your sake. Grandma was hospitalized because I pulled a trick you wanted, what about Mr. Biscuit; he died because I sheltered you from the rain when your car broke down.”

“You forgot the part of you drugging my drink just to sleep with me. What haven’t you done?”

She raised her voice amid flaming stares. “I did not drug your drink. You were tipsy and wanted sex.”

Brian raised his voice too; the veins in his brow, bulging under his skin, “Liar. So did tipsy make love to you, eh?”

“You made love to me. With your clear eyes you wanted me.”

“The host of heaven knows Brian can never want Meyer, so you telling me I wanted you is forbidden and deserves a death penalty.”

“Tell me. What do you want me to do? What do you oblige I do? I am willing to straighten the path between us and become best of friends like we used to.”

“Save your energy Meyer; the train has moved. You have gotten what you want- the penis between my legs. Let that be your souvenir for a one night stand. If I were you I would avoid anything Brian, because I could hurt you and proudly go to jail.”

“Why do you spite me so much?” Meyer asked in sober tone.

Because you exude evil, your presence breathes death, and you took advantage of a drunken boy who spent just a night in your house. Did I make myself clear?”

“Give me one more chance and I will rewrite that narrative.”

Brian shook his head, “Heh, heh, save your pen and paper and use the energy to rewrite you destiny. I just want you to rewrite one thing for me- rewrite your constant visit. Stop pestering me.”

Meyer’s voice became cold and faint, “I have never been myself after that night we made love. I still see you in my heart and my days have known no rest since you restricted your closeness.”

“How many times will I tell you I am in love with a girl in California? If you haven’t been yourself why not it go for a medical checkup could be fever. Maybe I shouldn’t have come to your house. Maybe we should have met at the café. It was your plan all along to seduce and sleep with me. Otherwise why did you reject our meeting at the café?”

Meyer grew weak in her bones; it was evident in her fallen eyes. “Far be it that I plan such evil against the man I love, yes I wanted to have some privacy in my house; I only chose my house so you could have a taste of my food. Did I plan the rain too? Am I a rainmaker?” she asked.

“I –“ Brian was about making some utterances when he was interrupted by a police siren which screamed into the farm.

Their gaze came upon a party of police men and grandma advancing to them.

As soon as they came to their spot grandma groaned, “Yes, police, this is the nuisance that has been a thorn in my flesh. She is a threat to my life and that of my grandson. Take her away.” She pointed at Meyer.

Meyer shot her dead look across them. “What do you mean? What did I do?”

“Ma,” the police Inspector said, “you have every reason to remain silent otherwise anything you say will be used against you in court.”

“Brian, are you going to stand there and watch them whisk me away?” she cried.

At once Meyer’s hand was engulfed in a handcuff and she was led to the police wagon. The siren blared on as they drove out of the farm.

“But grandma…” Brian wanted to protest.

“What!” grandma barked.

“Apologies. Is just that she has been stalking me.”

Next arrest is going to be you. I don’t give a damn whether you are my grandson or not. If I want to spank your ass I won’t give a damn about your smelling stool, I am going to spank it till it turns red. When you came to Miami I never knew you were going to shorten my life span. Suddenly you made my life to be lived backward,” she nagged.

Brian protested, “She keeps stalking me granny. I have nothing to do with her.”

“Oh keep shut.” She coughed repeatedly and cleared her throat. “She keeps stalking you because you entertain it.” she rolled her eyes at him and toddled away.

Just then a passport on the ground caught Brian’s attention. He squatted to pick it and it was Meyer neatly dressed in police uniform, with her smile hugely held. Brian rubbed his eyes and stared at it once more. He turned the back and it was her phone number on it.

The secret was revealed partly; Meyer had been a police officer all along.

More secret to be revealed…
