Chapter 253: Chapter 253

Chapter 253

~Tony escapes~

Once Mary got a call from Doctor Frank about something that needed anyone an urgent attention she feared greatly if he had given knowledge of her dirty rump with tony. At first she hesitated to make it to the hospital but upon a second thought, and after doctor Frank hounded her with series of phone call. She hopped into the car and zoomed straight to the hospital. With bated breath, she ran into the office of Doctor Frank only to meet with a party of police men.

Once she got at the door she looked puzzled, combed around his office with her curious eyes that searched the faces of the police officers and that of Doctor Frank. All eyes came on her once she slammed the door and the only message that jumped into her mind was Doctor Frank being trapped in trouble or losing the life of a patient.

“Come in darling, come in,,” Doctor Frank intoned , motioning his hand at Mary , yet looking restless in his dark eyes which burnt with fear and worry. Something was definitely wrong.

She drifted into their midst and gazed upon him, she asked, “What happened , darling. What are they doing here,” she queried, gesturing her hands at the now police men who seemed more relaxed than Doctor Frank.

He snorted, winked his eyes and said coldly, “I got to the hospital this morning and gave some briefing to the nurses on how today’s duty will run. And then I resumed my usual ward round. Getting to the emergency ward where Tony had been all along I didn’t see him. The oxygen mask and other supplementary equirpments were littered all over the floor. The windowpane and door were intact. There was no sign of anyone breaking in or breaking out. But then he had disappeared …” his voice died away at the end, as though he had been talking a lot before her arrival and they were tired of talking now. “Later I found one of the nurses lying helplessly naked on the floor, hands and feet bound. Tony had collected his uniform disguised as a nurse and disappeared.”

Mary’s face fell in exaggerated confusion as her eyes darted sideways in fear. “How come? What could be his motive for escaping and doing that to your nurse?”

Perhaps Doctor Frank had noticed the million questions about who Mary was on the faces of the police men who were much reserved and collected.

“Sorry police. This is Mary , my fiancé and aunt to the missing patient,” Doctor Frank said, stretched his hand to Mary and locked it in a hold.

“So sorry ma’am about what happened?” one of the police said. Staring up at her,, “But I want to assure you now that he escaped voluntarily without any form of duress from outside forces. He wasn’t kidnapped either,” he said tapped on the desk top in front of him and a video of Tony holding a scissors to the neck of the nurse who came to attend to him, stripped him of his uniform, wore it, and then fled the ward sprang up, “As you can see your nephew escaped consciously obviously held one of the nurses at death-point, collected his uniform so he could disguise as one,” the police said and turned off the CCTV, “So we invited you over if you know where he could possibly be,” the police said.

“Yes, darling. He has yet a 24-hour-oxygen to take in before retiring to the society. Any failure to have him back could be disastrous.”

Mary raised a brow but a pretentious one at that so as to give them the impression that it hurt her to hear that a boy she wouldn’t want to see the next day was missing. She wished Tony ‘s corpse would be found lying on the streets of California , it would be an answered prayer; it would add flesh to her body; it would complete her happiness as a-soon-to-be bride of Doctor Frank. But it was all a wish. The Tony that had the energy to get off an oxygen mask , hold down a male nurse, strip his uniform disguise as a nurse and escape was indeed a tough Tony; and he would stop at nothing to return back to her arms and cause her pain and mystery.

“It is OK, police. Darling,” she called casting a scary look at Frank, “I would inform his family and also check up on him in places I know he should be, As soon as I find that boy I am going to pull him down here.” With her head raise she stared at the ceiling and forced a pretentious frown, “Hmmm this boy keeps giving me headache. As soon as I get hold of him I am going to send him to his mother.” Suddenly she forced out a pretentious tear which trickled down her cheeks.

And Doctor Frank stood immediately to nurse her, “Come on stop this, sweetheart,” he took her in his embrace and stamped a kiss on her forehead , not forgetting to stroke her hair back to its ponytail , “Listen up police is involved now. Wherever he is the police will find him and make sure he returns to the hospital safe and sound. I didn’t invite you to shed tears while I know I have put things in place to solve that. Come on baby, perk up,” he said, hugged her firmly into himself and rubbed her on the shoulders

The police felt they had over stayed their welcome and they stood up, “We may have to take our leave, Doctor Frank.” One of them said.

Oh, so thoughtful of you officers to have given me the attention when I needed it most. Should he return to the hospital on his own accord, I would let you know,” he said , had a warm handshake with them and they had a walk.

Doctor Frank would have to dedicate the remaining hours he had to spend with patients in consoling Mary because she had falsely broken down in tears in a more radical, heart-felt way; one that made Doctor Frank to hesitate to the door shut it quickly to avoid anyone from barging in on them to see her weeping and wailing at the top of her voice.

“Come on darling you just have to stop this. I am promising you with my best of knowledge that your nephew is hale and hearty wherever he is. No harm would come upon him. The police will dash out to the nooks and crannies of the street and fetch him, Ok,” he assured her, with his hands on her tears-soaked face and reddened eyes. He got a nod from him yet she was all tears.

Indeed she wept for the disaster that was about to strike; she wept for herself…

Doctor Frank would never understand…
