Chapter 251: Chapter 251
Chapter 251
~More lies~
Mary was the last to walk in through the door, as Doctor Frank led the way and was already standing at the edge of the bed staring at Tony. She remained at the door, puzzled perplexed dumbfounded, scared to make a move and more scared to stay put. Doctor Frank was standing in her view so she couldn’t see what Tony looked like from her standing point.
“Come on darling,” Frank beckoned on her and she wondered if Doctor Frank would understand the war going on in her heart already. For goodness sake she never wanted Tony to breathe life again. Good things of life were already falling in pleasant places for her already so Tony was supposed to leave the scene.
“Why did he gain consciousness?
“What has he come to do on earth?
“Oh I envisioned war that neither Frank nor I could bear. Tony just has to go? No! I can’t disappoint Doctor Frank and his wonderful family. Eva and Kate would definitely give up on me. They will write me off. The ridicule would be much on me, oh lord! There must be a solution,” she was lost in her own thought as she knocked her high heel further closer to the edge of Tony.
Just then her gaze came upon the boy that agreed to her terms of staying naked and chained to the edge of the bed for twenty four hours , just to understand what kind of love Tony nursed for her, she believed whatever that led him to agree to her demand was real and exact in feelings.
“Why is he still under the mask?” Mary asked locking eyes with Tony who was staring powerfully at her alone, perhaps he was recalling what brought him to this disastrous state and the reason he had been like a vegetable, and the pretty woman standing right in front of him.
Tony was much conscious now. He could feel, smell and see his environment.
“Yes he needs to exhaust this last straw of oxygen just to normalize his system with in his environment before he could start breathing fresh air,” Doctor Frank replied , noticing Tony’s eyes focused on Mary alone, even when he tried to initiate an eye contact , it was a waste of time and energy.
He believed Tony was excited to see his aunt again and he couldn’t wait to get off the oxygen mask so he could earn some embrace and reunite with his family.
That wasn’t the reply she expected to hear from Doctor Frank. She expected him to have said Tony was having difficulty breathing and his life was much at risk now. She wanted him to say Tony had less than twenty four hours to live.
“Ok, I thought as much,”: she echoed, smiled at Doctor Frank and then at Tony whom she knew might never smile at her after what she did to him. “So when would the oxygen mask leave his nostrils finally? She asked Doctor Frank still staring at Tony and observing his hands slightly moving and his eyes blinking one stroke at a time as though he was tired of shutting them after six months.
“Um.. Let’s say …” Doctor Frank tossed his head this way and that way. “All things being equal I looked forward to bringing him out of it in two days,” he replied and when he couldn’t bear Tony staring at her, he was forced to ask, “I can really see he has missed his family so much and he is excited to see you because I have noticed his gaze has been upon you for a while now,” he sounded amidst a face full of smiles.
She managed to let a chuckle but within herself she had died a million times because in two days she would get interpretation for the eye contact Tony had been initiating with her and she would have to summon the courage to leave or to live.
“Who wouldn’t miss family after staying in coma for six months,” she wished she could curtail on the lies she told but sometimes she believed the lies gave her an edge to keep firm and strong; that the lies got her going regardless of the war raging ; that it was too late to tell the truth. Or would she have the nerves to look Doctor Frank in the face and re-inform him that Tony had been her date and it was her demand of having him naked and chained to the edge of te bed that sent him to coma. No! She would never dare! And if it ever happened then it didn’t come from her!
“First thing I would need to do is to locate his mother and put him under her care,” she lied further.
Doctor Frank shook his head, “That would be nice of you,” he beamed, “What about his father?” he asked yet further, studying how weak and feeble Tony’s joints might be now after six months of staying at a spot. Also he had ensured the nurses moved his positon within the bed to avoid bed sore. Although they couldn’t avoid it totally yet it wasn’t pronounced. The little sore that developed on his buttocks and back was healing gradually ever since he commenced treatment.
“His father is late,” she wondered who taught her to tell lies without thinking for one bit. “I believe where he is right now, he would be glad his son didn’t join him,” she said and asked , “I hope Tony has not been hearing all we have been saying ?” she asked in whispers.
Doctor Frank jerked his head, Hell no, the oxygen mask is sound proof. I got it specially for the nephew of my sweetheart so that the outside distraction in the world wouldn’t alter his peace and comfort,” he said, drifted to Mary, and gripped her waist, while they focused onTony.
She was done staring at him ; she diverted her gaze to Frank , locked eyes with him, placed hands on his shoulders .
“I love you. I can’t thank you enough for puling this through.”
Their faces pulled forth at once and their lips met to resume a deep kiss. With the corner of her eyes she stole a glance at Tony, and he was staring at them
Trouble ahead…
