Chapter 245: Chapter 245

Chapter 245

~relationship sweet and smooth~

Dinner was pasta, roasted liver and shrimps.

The parents of Doctor Frank smiled cheek to cheek as they shared the table with Mary and Doctor Frank whose joy knew no bounds the moment he got a call from Mary earlier yesterday about her decision to meet with his parents now. It was worth more than grace and fortune to him.

The other day her daughter Eva had a discussion with her over her acceptance of Doctor Frank as her father. Ella was not only comfortable with Doctor Frank walking her mother down the aisle also she wouldn’t mind to call him father because he had that father figure she had always wanted. All her life she had looked for someone she could call a father and when her mother disappointed her by bringing home sugar boys and men of no value, she gave up on her desire and waited for the day a father figure would come.

“Mom, if he proposes to you, marry him. And by the way have you met with his parents?” Eva had asked her mother and she only could stare at her daughter in total bewilderment.

“You look as dashing as the sky up there,” Frank’s mother said and shot her cute smile at Mary, while she dished out the food for everyone to have enough to eat.

“You are welcome, my daughter,” said Frank’s father, a white , heavily bearded, thick man in his late sixties, whose thick nose sat properly on his large face, but not anywhere as handsome as his son, Doctor Frank. “We are happy to finally meet with you after you disappointed us the other day,” he groaned , still at his smile and stirring his meal with the cutlery before he had a mouthful which stopped him from speaking further, as his wrinkled jaw rolled within his face while he masticated.

“Yes,” his wife added, “We looked forward to meeting you the other time and the sumptuous Chinese spicy tuna we prepared got wasted ,” she said coldly and ,mildened her smile to show how bad they felt over her absence.

Doctor Frank’s father nodded since the mouthful he had wouldn’t let him speak effortlessly.

Mary bowed her gaze in apology, “My apology,” she said warmly, smacked her lips and remained bowed until Frank’s father motioned his hand at her.

“It is OK, we have your here now,” he said, poured a glassful of orange juice for Mary. “I specially plucked the best of citrus from my garden and extracted the juice for you alone. As you can see no one else is having orange juice except you.”

They burst into a convulsing laugh and Doctor Frank rubbed Mary on the shoulder when the laugh seemed to choke her she cleared her throat yet struggling to choke back the laugh.

“I really appreciate your kind gesture and reserved reverence your family has for me. Of a truth I am in the right family. Thank you so much. And to think of your sense of humor, makes me believe you are a comedian.” She sipped her glass of citrus juice. “Hmmm this must be rare specie. It is sweet and smooth on the tongue.”

“Same way we want your relationship with our son to be sweet and smooth on the tongue of people,” Frank’s father was at it a again.

They all burst into an engaging lengthy laugh as Frank and Mary choked back theirs.

“Oh my goose you never told me your father was a comedian,” Mary said to Frank who already had a mouthful of the shrimps.

Suddenly there was a hush of silence over them until Frank’s father cleared his throat to speak.

“You see you are about to spend the rest of your life with a man I am well sure will handle you like a jewel. Frank is not just my son, he is my best friend and soul food. When his mother had him, I patted her on the shoulder and said we weren’t going to have another child because Frank has all the talent any parent could ask for. He is not only blessed with the talent of playing and mixing with chemicals als he has the best morality you could ever think of. Watching him grow and noticing how loving and caring he is can’t be quantified with any other thing. My dear what I am saying in essence is that Frank is the best man you will ever know ,” he said and smiled at Mary before looking at Frank and his wife,

“He told us you are a single mother,” Frank’s mother sounded and noticed the heavy countenance that befell Mary once she mentioned that, “Come on sweet choco, you don’t have to be heavy within your spirit because you are a single mother. I am not nagging about it, neither am I going to reject you. I just want you to know that hence forth you and your daughter are part of us,” she sounded and held a smirked face.

After masticating a morsel of liver, he intoned, “And by the way why didn’t she join us for the dinner?” frank’s father asked with an inquisitive look on his face.

Mary grinned briefly, “Um…I believe she would love to join perhaps next time because she has already accepted Frank as family,” she said and smiled at Frank who squeezed her finger in appreciation.

“Oh that will be nice,” Frank’s mother said, “I just want to advise you as you begin a new journey of blissful life with our son, please you must make truth your watch word.”

His father added, “Yes pretty angels. Please never you tell lies to each other. Be true to each other that is the safest way to earn each other’s trust. Anything other than this is gearing towards a fragile marriage that will not last.”

All the while he spoke Mary pondered on the lies he had already told Frank about Tony being her nephew and she wondered what would become of her if Tony should regain his consciousness

Trouble ahead…
