Chapter 226: Chapter 226
Chapter 226
~Surprise~
Perhaps she is still at large,” she felt her response was vague with no iota of attachment of any kind.
“Do you know her in person?” Frank asked with rare interest lighting up his face.
“Um-“ she put her finger on her lips, contemplating, “Not really.” She shrugged and affirmed, “The case I have right now is one of a boy that has too many girlfriends. I may not know the one that is really responsible.” she breathed hard, a breath of relief each time she responded to his inquisitive questions.
“What if I wave the magic wand and the girlfriend responsible appears.” He wanted to sound more humorous than he intended.
Mary struggled to blush. She managed a less frowned face yet with itches of guilt ravaging her body.
“Finger crossed. Your nephew will be strong again but the hour is what I don’t know,” Frank said, figuring if he had the talent of positivity because of what he felt for Mary. He had never been positive in life that was why the one that just sounded from him didn’t sound cool on his lips.
As they go out there to have dinner he would be positive about his feeling for her. They wouldn’t be room for negativity of any sort. He would tell her his family couldn’t wait to set their eyes on the first woman they had ever seen with Frank. How calm and eternal his heart had been ever since he knew her were part of the things he would share with his family; not forgetting to remind her that she smelled like rose at morning dew. After what seemed to be a hush of brief silence hanging over them, she said, “I need to rest my head.”
He cut in, “Dinner,” his smiles hugely held with the expectation of not being turned down when her reply would sound. She raised a brow, “ I meant to rest my head at home,” she emphasized in a tone that housed no apology of any sort for the effect that accompanied her response
“Exquisite dinner. I insist,” Doctor Frank supported it with a nod and a gentle smile.
She sighed, rolled her eyes and squeezed her cute lips.
“I take it for a yes,” Frank beamed…

Hours later, Mary yelled at him while in the car, as she glared through the window at a gigantic state of the art mansion with colorful ornamental plants.
“Why did you do this?” Why did you bring me to your house?” she quarreled, dragging a mountain of frown across her face and impatiently opening her lips to yell further.
Doctor Frank molded his arms in pleas, “Apologies. I wanted to make it a surprise.” He swallowed hard, figuring what to do since her quarrelsome voice was already summoning disinterest.
She cut in radically, “Surprise?” she snorted, shook her head, stroked her nose in rage, “What surprise if I may ask. Are you about to show me the power of life and death that you have in your house or does the nine planets assemble in your sitting room.” She questioned with her hands, raising her voice, and casting her gaze outside.
He took off his glasses, sensing her nagging wasn’t a ordinary as he thought. He could see the redness on her face and the way at which her nose and ears twitched each time she spoke.
“Better still I wish I could afford all of that for you. I have come a long way suckling my heart for you. I only think it is right I introduce uou to my parents , that is all. I never meant any harm,” he pled, sucking his gaze into her face and arguing within himself if she would alight from the car and call it a day. “Apologies.”
“You have to take it easy with me,” she turned down her voice now after accepting his countless apologies.” You are just too impatient. We just met one month ago and you are giving me surprises literally,” she shrugged. “You don’t even know me . You barely know my name and here we are about to meet your parents as though we have known since Ads, “Come on, sugary papito, things don’t work out like that. I need to know,” she sounded shaking her hair.
“You know me now..” he barely tried to keep his voice less emotional , as itches of failed mission caressed his body.
“Yes. And all I know about you right now is your name being Frank and you are a doctor. Is that what you expect from a woman?” she snorted after speaking at a breath , “Trust me you are acting now as a kid, whose parents have been bothered about his relationship status and they cant’s just wait for him to bring home some sugar baby. You mentioned dinner. I thought we were going to do some Chinese restaurant or some Seafood Spanish restaurant.”
He added… “Surprise, Mary. I wanted to host you to an exquisite dinner at home. Surprises are just exactly as it sound, and you don’t expect me to tell you otherwise it will no longer be surprise. Apologies for taking you off your feet. But then we are here now,” he peered through the window and glanced at his mansion, “And I perceived they are already at the dining, waiting for our arrival.” He snorted at her and noticed the anger that curled up her chin “So shall we proceed,” he obliged.
She shook her head, “I am sorry. I can’t do this right now,” she turned her gaze at him to study the looks on his face and it was that Frank smiled briefly, bowed his face , fondled with his fingers as though once he was done fondling it, she would be charmed to obey him out of her will. He stared at her and turned on the engine.
“Perhaps some other time I could meet your parents. You just met me in the wrong mood,” she said.
Inwardly she agreed to wait for Tony a little more time to regain consciousness; and if he failed, she would have to commit to Frank…
But would she be able to wait that long?
And to think of the fact that she had lied about Tony being her nephew. What would be Doctor Frank’s reaction if he should get to find out the woman he loved so much had been lying to him all along.
Something was about to happen…
