Chapter 158

~At the national park~

Meyer, the nanny, and the twins made it to national park with the influx of tourists, Meyer knew of a truth the park had all that was required to be a popular destination. Being led by a park guard they took a grand tour of the park and beheld the wild animals and domesticated ones. The reserve was so beautiful that they couldn’t get enough of their sight.

Suddenly Meyer forgot her problems and worries as she seemed to be carried away by the herds of lions and antelopes that flooded the park.

“I wish God made me an animal like them,” said Meyer waving at a monkey that busily perched from tree to tree. And she made the twins in her arms to smile at the monkey, but they never responded.

“Why did you say so?” the nanny asked, nursing the twin in her arm. The twin was wincing and might begin a heart-drenching cry soon.

“They are free. We are not. They don’t think of any tax to pay, mortgage on a house to settle, children to cloth and most importantly who to fall in love with. They are as free as the sky up there, which hovers wherever way and pours down rain whenever it wishes. I wish I could be like them,” he re-emphasized and kissed the twins in her arms.

The nanny was able to put the twin in her arms under control by lending him one of her thumb, which he struggled with, and dared to put it into his mouth.

“You can still be like them,” the nanny said, smiling at a chimpanzee that groaned and surged close to the net that barricaded wild life from visitors

Meyer let a brief smile and tilted her face to the nanny, “Tell me how I can be like them. I just can’t wait. I will just hand these twins over to you and change into a lion right now.”

“If you want to be like them, say nothing, do nothing and be nothing. I promise, you will be much lesser than these animals. You will be as the rock on the sea bed or the shore at the beaches.”

“Sometimes I wonder if these animals fall in love,” said Meyer as she led the way to where the birds and creeping animals were.

The sun was about to set; it just cast the first beam of light and the nanny blew warm air at the twin whom she suspected to be hot now.

“How can they fall in love when they don’t have conscience and emotion. You see, love is a beautiful thing that shouldn’t be underrated the way it is being underrated now.

Meyer’s mind focused on her past experience with Brian and she thought it wise to discuss with the nanny; she had never confided in anybody since she disappeared from Miami and Brian. She was yet to trust the nanny, so she would appear anonymous in the discussion.

She said, “There is this friend of mine who is in love with the man of her youth,” she intoned and stole a glance at the nanny who was busy, unbuttoning the button on the cloth of the twin and blowing air across his chest with her mouth.

“Go ahead I am all ears,” the nanny replied.

Just then the twin in her arm let a short wince that made Meyer to peer her face at the twin’s face.

“What could be the problem?” meyer asked hastily.

“I think the scorching sun could be responsible for it,” replied the nanny, casting a glance at the twin in Meyer’s arm.

“I think we need to settle at a spot,” she replied, “The sun is unbearable now, what do you think?”

The nanny stroke her head, combing around with her stare, “I perceived a well shaded café is over there,” she pointed at a café, just a stone throw from their position.

Immediately they settled at the spot and placed an order for two glasses of chilled cocktail, as they fed their eyes with the band of ostrich that paced up and down the field.

“Yeah,” she recalled, “You were narrating something before I interrupted, “The nanny said, and noticed the twin in her arm was much asleep now but the one in Meyer’s arm was relaxed, comfortable and playing with her fingers.

“Oh yes that reminds me,” replied Meyer, “As I was saying this friend of mine is madly in love with this cute man. She couldn’t fight back the passion and urge that boiled in her heart. As time went by, she became fond of him and opened up to him about her feelings for him. But the man wouldn’t accept the love she was offering because he was also in love with another girl. Thinking she was falling out of love, she charmed him, seduced him, and had sex with him. After some time she got to discover she was carrying the man’s child. But she kept it secret and wouldn’t want the man to know of her pregnancy. What advise do you have for my friend?” she concluded and stretched to grab her cocktail.

“Hmmm,” the nanny hummed, “What a pathetic story. First your friend shouldn’t have forced her way through. Love is like nature. It happens on its own without any external force. Now I want to know if the man is aware of having sex with her.”

“Yes, but he was embarrassed anyways,” replied Meyer.

“That is it. She will have to prepare to become a single mother, because she is carrying the child of a man that feels nothing for her. But there is a condition. She will have to let the man know of the child. Definitely he will come for them. But the love story is going to be filled with hurt and hate because the single mother may later find love in another man and make the other man pay for the lovelorn and stress she passed through all these years,” she said and dimmed her eyes at Meyer. “Definitely somebody is going to shed blood.”

And Meyer’s countenance fell hugely, much aware they just analyzed her story. And as for the person that will shed blood, she prayed she wouldn’t be the one.

But would she ever find love again and make Brian pay for the lovelorn and stress she would pass through just to raise the twins alone?

As for showing Brian the twins… “Hmmm,” she thought…
