Chapter 131: Chapter 131
Chapter 131
~It is the blood of beef~
Once Brian looked through the window and saw grandma hasting her walk and shuffling her feet as one carrying a heavy load, he slumped into the bed and feigned a deep sleep. He perceived she had seen the blood in the trunk of the car and was coming to query him.
It is the blood of a chicken Ella bought! No!
It is the blood of a mouse I killed earlier in the day!
No!
It is the blood of an auto-crash victim I helped!
Eh, no, no!
It is the blood Ella..no...no!
He hissed and kept wondering at what answer to give to her the moment she walked through that day. Or should I open up about the murder. Damn no! How would I even think of such idea? How would grandma see me? She would definitely give up on my sorry ass. And worst of it, she would label me a ninny ass that killed a cousin, a bloodline because of a woman, another man’s wife. I would be despised for life.
“Hmmm!” he hummed, opened his eyes to face the reality. And then said in his head, “How am I going to deal with this murder? How did even get into this in the first place? Hmmm!” he hummed yet again. “What sort of love do I have for Ella that got me into this mess all of sudden? Oh my God! I pray I survive this. I didn’t intend to kill that dude. It was self defense. Didn’t he come at me first?”
He could overhear the shuffling feet of grandma close by and then he shut his eyes and resumed his false sleep, even beginning to snore to make it seem real.
The door was yanked open furiously and grandma stood at the door, moping at him, her wrinkled jaw sagging below her chin and eyes darting sideways, as though she was contemplating if actually her offender was asleep or not. She trudged to his corner and spanked his leg.
“Brian wake your ass up! She said, spanking him yet again when he wouldn’t heed to her call. “Wake up, Brian.” She spanked him harder this time around on the back
“Oh damn! He lamented, writhing in pain as his body hurt, yawning and frowning falsely, before he rubbed his eyes so as to behold grandma clearly.
“Wake your dirty ass and give me attention,” she groaned shooting her wrinkled face at him now. “What did you do with my car?” she queried, hands on the waist and her adrenalin pumping hugely in anger.
“What car?” Brian asked, squeezing his face and giving her the impression that he wasn’t aware of anything that might have happened to the car.
“Answer me fast and don’t play a fast one on me, dude. What did you do with my car? I saw human blood in the trunk.”
“Dragon’ kiss!” he exclaimed, “Human blood ?” he glared at her scowled face thoughtfully wondering what answer to opt for, “oh , oh, oh, now I remember,” he said, stroking his long hair smiling as he explained, “Ella demanded I accompany her to the butcher where she could purchase beef for barbecue. I believe that is the blood from the beef.”
“Shut that thing you call a mouth,” grandma barked, “The fluid in the trunk doesn’t look like blood from beef. What did you do with my car Brian?” She winked at him, trudging close to him as though she was about hitting him to say the truth.
“What are you insinuating I did eh, granny.” Noticing it was not what he thought it was, Brian sat up, “I just told you what I did with the car.” He stood to his feet, if you don’t mind I would fain want to wash it and save you the troubles.”
“Hell no, we are not washing off anything,” she ordered. “That is human blood. The protein smell is too much to be that of a cow.” She held him by the arm and dragged him. “Now join me to conform it. Move it.”
Brian pulled out his hand from her grip. “After you,” he ordered and paused for her to lead the way.

On their way to the garage, Brian fought with various suggestions in his head. He would have to prove himself otherwise he would be exposed and that would be his fatal end. Although he disagreed and argued within himself if grandma would phone the police if she should find out the blood was from the corpse of Ella’s husband, he wouldn’t even want her to know anything as such. She might not alert the police but then he would have lost his place in her heart and nothing short of falling out of favor would be his potion as long as grandma was concern.
They were at the garage now. Brian’s breathing nagged at his heart as he cast a glance upon the said trunk of the car. He wished he could waive the magic wand and grandma would change her mind about opening the trunk of the car. The moment Brian swirled around and looked in the direction of the field, behold Ella was coming in their direction.
“Oh my God! What is she doing here?” Brian queried in his head. “What is she doing here now?” he complained, “Any ways she came at the right time. I hope she understands my intention to convince grandma about that blood in the trunk and agree to every lie I will tell.”
Grandma had her hands on her nostrils. Can you smell that stench? Blood from a cow can’t be so offensive. This is human blood, Brian. You had better tell me what you did with my car…” she was interrupted by Ella’s heady fragrance as she drew closer to them now.
“Hi, Brian. Morning granny,” Ella greeted, looking all bright and beautiful in the sun and resuming a frown once she noticed the blood and the looks on Brian’s face also grandma closing her nostrils.
“Who invited you?” grandma asked, sharing stare between Brian and Ella. “Did you invite her?” she asked brain.
“Hell no,” he replied, scratching his head.
“Oh yes you came just at the right time. I believe you can smell the stench. The trunk of my car is messed up with human blood but Brian is saying otherwise. Did you use my car to buy anything earlier today?” she asked Ella.
Brian wished he could wink at Ella to answer that it was beef, but he couldn’t because grandma had her gaze on him.
“Yes earlier today,” Ella replied looking all serious and
“What did you buy, answer me fast?” grandma asked hastily.
“ I …” she stuttered and lost with words, and the correct answer to say. With the corner of her eyes she could see Brian’s face trying to pass a message, his mouth couldn’t. Suddenly an answer jumped into his mind and she decided to say it whether or not it would implicate them. “I bought beef.”
Brian had a breath of relief, and shut his eyes freely. Thank you Ella; he said in his head.
Grandma rolled her eyes, “Damn!” she lamented, “That beef must be infected. The stench is toxic. Heh nanny’s boy,” she turned to Brian, “You had better wash my car before I cancel Christmas on your ass. Next time you want to buy such poison please avoid my car.” She turned to Ella. “How is your husband, Ella?”
Ella didn’t expect the question so it came unto her as a surprise, “Oh eh , yeah, he is fine, yes,” she shook her head.
About walking away something struck grandma in the head, “That reminds me, your dad phoned earlier that he would be visiting Miami, reason I don’t know yet,” she said and started trudging away.
They waited for her to be away from earshot before Brian exhaled fearfully and said to Ella “My dad is visiting Miami?”
“Yes I phoned him about the disappearance of my husband, since they are cousins. In that way nobody will suspect us. He should come down and assist me report to the police.”
“Hmmm,” Brian hummed he was already feeling an ache in his head and limbs. “We got more works to do.”
They both stared at each other, as curiosity clouded their faces.
