Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Tamim and Roshni were sitting on a bench at a park. When Roshni told Tamim about Tithy's accident, he asked her, "How is Tithy now?"

"Her hand was hurt but now it’s all right but I think." Roshni stopped while replying.

Sensing her tension, Tamim said, "Look Roshni, may be you are over thinking this. The accident might really be an unintentional act of the driver."

"I know, Tamim. But there is also a chance of something being there." Roshni said being worried but confidently.

"Okay. Let's say so. So what are you going to do about it now?" Tamim asked her.

"I don’t know yet." Roshni replied staring blankly at the sky.

" There are clouds. It may rain. Let's leave for now. And I just want to tell you one thing. Don’t do anything all by yourself. You are not alone out there. You know that, right?” Tamim said staring at the sky.

Hearing Tamim's word, Roshni looked at him and then again stared at the sky to find it slightly dark for clouds.

Though she was looking at the sky for a while, she didn't notice it before Tamim said that.

She got up from bench and said, "Let's leave."

Tamim said, "You will go to office, right? Come. I will drop you."

Roshni refused politely and said, "It's okay. I will manage. You also should go back to your office."

Tamim tried to convince, "But Roshni, it's okay. I can drop you."

This time Roshni refused strongly and left the place saying, "I am alright. You should go. Please."

Roshni left the place but Tamim stayed still for a while.

“What is she thinking to do? No, I have to stop her. This way she will make her life terrible.” Tamim thought in his mind.

Then he rushed following Roshni and shouted, “Roshni, Wait.”

But by the time he reached at the entrance of the park, Roshni hopped in a taxi and went away.

Staring at that for a while, Tamim went towards his car.

Taking the driving seat, he drove to his office while thinking, “What should I do now? What?”

Ruhaan's P.O.V.

In meeting, I became very angry finding the progress of some departments that were not following my expectations.

Giving them a deadline to finish the work, I left the meeting room and entered my cabin. Tithy also followed me in. I sat on my chair and closed my eyes leaning on it.

Tithy then asked me, "Sir, coffee?"

Her voice was filled with fear. I opened my eyes after a while but found her gone.

I don't want to hear her this voice. but why??

May be. No. It can't be.

To break my chain of thought, I took a file and tried to concentrate on work but all in vain. Nothing is being able to get through my mind.

Leaning on chair, I again closed my eyes. A memory made its way to my mind.

It was late at night and I was trying to complete my presentation but feeling sleepy. Nonetheless I had to complete that as the deadline of my submission was the next day.

I didn't realize when Titly came and stood beside me. I got started when she suddenly spoke up, "Vai?"

I spoke up looking at her, “You startled me, Titly.”

She was just staring at me with a smile on her face and said again, “Vai, coffee?”

I smiled at her and nodded. With a smiling face, she left my room.

After some times, she came back with two cups of coffee in her hands and extended one cup towards me.

When I took the cup, she asked me, "What are you doing being awake yet?"

"Preparing presentation, sweetie."

Hearing my words, Titly smiled and teasingly said, "Oh yeah. You and your presentation."

Without bothering that, I replied, "MBA is a tough job, sweetie. But why are you awake yet?" "I was not feeling sleepy, Vai. So I came to you if you are awake" Titly said.

Being concerned, I asked, "Why sweetie? Anything wrong?"

She smilingly said, "No, vai.”

“Then?” I asked only to get her started, “You know vai, I was just thinking that"

Understanding the as usual way of her starting to blabber, I whispered, "Here she goes again"

But to my luck she heard.

When she glared at me, I fearfully said, "Nothing, sweetie. You continue. I am listening."

Taking a chair, she sat beside me and started her blabbering again. I smiled at her and started my work.

Nonetheless I smilingly looked at her in every few minutes and nodded to confirm I was listening. Otherwise I knew I would be gone.

Then I heard a voice, "Vai, Coffee."

I opened my eyes and found Titly standing in front of me and holding a cup of coffee.

I stood up and almost screamed, "Titly?!!"

"Sir. It's me, Tithy."

Hearing her, I came back to reality. Understanding my illusion, I turned to other side as tears rolled down from my eyes.

"It’s not her." I whisperingly said.

While Tithy went on saying, "Sir, I just thought you might need"

I cut her off and said, "Leave Tithy."

When she again tried to say something, I shouted, “LEAVE.”

She left the cabin and I again sat on my chair staring blankly at the sky through the window. I came back to reality when I heard a thunder.

Like my world around, the sky is also dark now.

While staring at the sky, I felt my eyes getting watery again but I kept staring not bothering to control my tear or wipe it.

The sky was slightly dark but soon it got surrounded by darkness for cloud. I could hear the sound of thunders as well.

There was darkness all around like it became night already though it was just half past 12 by noon.

I thought rain might fall anytime but remaining like that for a while to my astonishment, the weather got all better.

There was no sign of cloud in the sky. It was like a bright sunny day and there was no darkness at all a few minutes ago.

I wish the darkness of my life would disappear like that or at least a ray just a single ray of light may happen to be there so that I can go on for that with my life.

Is it too much to wish for!!

When my heart was silently praying like that my mind opposed boldly saying,

“How do you wish to go on when deep in your heart you have already begun to understand that there is no going back to get that ray?? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep that have already taken hold.”

But my heart like as always made its way.

“But you cannot give up, Ruhaan. You cannot make the dream of your father fail. You cannot make the company go down that your father wished and tried hard to make once.

You cannot disappoint Titly also. You have to become a businessman, a successful businessman and have to help who needs help. You know that, right?”

"Right. I have to go on whether there is any ray of light. I am not allowed to give up, right Titly?"I thought in my mind.

I was trying to convince myself and right then I heard a knock at the door.

When I said to come in, she entered fearfully.

“Sir, a call came from Mr. Mahmud. He wants to meet you tomorrow” Tithy said to me.

When I said, “Okay”, she left my cabin silently and more like sadly just with a nod.

Tithy can’t go on with her silence. But it’s not what that should matter to me. Nonetheless I just can’t digest the fact. Why it’s affecting me?

Giving all of these thoughts some rest, I concentrated on my work and set my mind to meet Mr. Mahmud the next day.

Roshni’s P.O.V.

After talking to Tamim, I got more restless. So I refused his offer of taking me to office and left from there hurriedly.

I knew that he would follow me and he did. But without turning back, I hopped in a taxi and came to office while arranging my thoughts.

I can’t take help from Tamim always. It once made him fall in danger too. Though I have another one to share this problem but it will be too much for her to handle after all of that.

Thus whenever this problem seeks me, Tamim is the only one person, I can think of.

I have to solve this but what if they made their way to me beforehand. What will I do?

I was becoming weak but my heart didn't let me down like that day.

It convinced me to go on with this.

“But Roshni you can’t turn away from this problem forever. It’s right to go on solving this and if it needs you to stand alone then you have to. You won’t be able to ignore it. You cannot pretend it didn’t happen to you. It’s not in you, Roshni.” My heart made its statement confidently.

While I was thinking like that, some memories made their way to my mind….

When I opened my eyes, I felt severe pain in my head. The room seemed unfamiliar to me. Looking around, I understood I was in hospital.

Turning other side, I found Tithy sleeping while holding my hand and keeping her head on the bed. She was sitting beside the bed on floor and tear stains were visible on her cheek.

I tried to remember what happened. All I just remember that I met with an accident. I was pushed by a car.

Who brought me in hospital? Someone was there with me when the accident happened. But who? I couldn't remember the person.

While thinking like that when I looked at the table which was on my other side, my eyes caught the sight of a flower bouquet. But who could have brought this?

My chain of thought cut off by a voice.

“Api, are you awake now? Do you know how much we got frightened when we heard of your accident!! Anyway are you alright now? Are you feeling pain anywhere? Do you need anything? Should I get you anything or should I call for a doctor? Wait. I am going to get a doctor.”  Saying this, she left from the room.

I was just staring at her silently for the whole time. How did I get here and how come Tithy is here?

I found Ammi sleeping on the sofa who woke up hearing Tithy’s blabbering.

When Tithy left, Ammi got near me and helped me to sit on the bed. Understanding her concern, I spoke up, "I am alright, Ammi."

When she was about to say something, doctor entered the room. He examined me and asked few questions. When I answered, he seemed convinced.

Looking at Ammi and Tithy, he said, "She is now out of danger. But she needs to be here for few days for observation."

Ammi and Tithy thanked the doctor and he then turned to me and said with a smile, "You need rest".

"Okay then I will take your leave now."

Saying this when the doctor left the room, SHE entered.

Getting near to me, she asked me, "How did you get hurt Api? How did the accident happen?"
