Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Emma waited and didn't see Lucas come to join her in bed. She got off the bed feeling disappointed. This stupid husband of hers might probably have guessed her intention and hence didn't come to the bedroom.
She got her outer rob and slipped it on. She went downstairs but Lucas was not there. She decided to check in the quest room and she discovered that it was shut from within.
She immediately concluded that Lucas had slept in the guestroom and shut it from within to completely shut her out. How smart of him.
FIVE YEARS LATER
Louis Hayden was seated in his office. The Hayden cooperation had grown two times larger than it was five years ago. Louis returning to office after that accident that left him in coma for months, brought more ideas that moved the cooperation to its new horizon.
His idea of involving other shareholders into the decision making channel greatly paid off. But then, he was still the stern looking President he had always been.
He just received mail to register for an international conference anchored by the largest corporation in Middletown City.
It didn't feel appealing to him at first but then, he saw that different Cooperation and holdings had already shown interest and were registering. Besides, the convener was planting a company in Oak city immediately after the conference.
The company was already in construction and what Louis had seen about the ongoing project clearly showed that it was starting big.
Many foreign nationals had shown interest and registered too. If so, he also indicated interest and decided to register. The company might open a new partnership for the Hayden cooperation.
The conference was going to take place exactly a month's time. And the convener happened to be a woman. A doctor in business and administration.
She goes Simply by the name Dr Ms Johnson. Louis looked forward to meeting her. He doesn't let any opportunity for business slip off his fingers.
He tried to find out who she was but didn't get any useful information about her except that she's the heiress to the throne of the royal family in Middletown.
That implies that she's a princess. How amazing that such a woman could combine business and royalties. He wants to meet her and form an alliance with her.
Pamela sat in her cosy sofa and was perusing the total number of registered members for her conference when she saw that Louis Hayden had registered.
She squinted. Louis Hayden was going to be present in her conference? How would he feel when he realises that she, the poor tramp that he despised so much, is the convener of the conference he just registered with?
Or where would he turn his face to when he set his eyes on the D4? Well, she's returned to Oak City for two purposes, one to revenge on those who made her life a living hell.
This is her pay back time. She would pull down to the lowest level anyone could ever imagine. And then drag them on the floor and let as many as are interested in ridiculing them should do it heartily.
The second reason for her return was to establish a company that would swallow up all the pre existing ones, making her the largest corporation in the entire City.
This might appear as revenge to Louis but it also meant she was worth more than him. She would then make him realise that the table had turned around.
She was hiving a mischievous smile when she heard a knock on her door "Yes, come in '' she replied flippantly without raising her head.
Clarion Johnson walked in. She was dressed in her night wear. She walked over and sat by the edge of the bed. She looked at the gorgeous beautiful granddaughter that Alice left for her.
She looked very much like her mother. Sometimes, it made her wonder if Alice reincarnated in her daughter Pamela. Such semblance between mother and daughter.
"Grandma, you're here?" Pamela chimed, smiling and interrupting Clarion's thought. The older woman smiled, leaving her thoughts to vanish away.
"You're doing absolutely well, Pam. Your father and I are proud of you. I wouldn't have believed that in one year that you started the company, you have surpassed the older companies before you.
I knew we wouldn't regret investing in such an intelligent daughter like you. You made us proud and that's why you have our full support to return to Oak City and do the same…" Clarion Johnson chimed, showing how excited and impressed with her granddaughter.
"I am grateful to Grandpa and to you Grandma. You made me the woman I am today, and I will forever be grateful. You made me a business consultant and an administrator, why wouldn't I apply my knowledge of consultancy into my business first?
And I thank you for your support. I am really grateful that you allow me to return to Oak City again. I promise to make you proud again and always" Pamela appreciated.
Her grandparents had hired a special team to construct the company site. How they acquired the vast space is something she's not aware of.
And then, special forces had been employed, trained and would be her bodyguards and servants when she moved to Oak City.
They claim she was starting big with great investors, ready to partner with her as much as they did in Middletown City. She's only waiting for the conference to come and then pass, then she'll kick start the company.
"You can always count on us. We are your parents and don't see us through the eyes of grandparents. You are Alice to us, and that is what you would always be,my dear" Clarion declared.
Pamela's eyes were teary. She held her grandmother's hand and gave it a soft squeeze. She was fortunate to have this family. She wished she had met them earlier, things would have taken this turn in her life.
But then, she's grateful she did eventually. The time they appeared in her life, was actually the right time for her and her unborn babies.
"There's something else I would love to talk to you about" Clarion became a little serious. She glanced at Pamela and the latter nodded that she could go ahead.
"You are not getting any younger. In a few years time, you will be thirty. It's not a tradition in the Royal family that a princess should stay so long.
Perhaps we were to be blamed for what happened to Alice. If we had married her off earlier, she probably wouldn't have met with the man who became your father.
We don't want that to happen to you. Your great grandpa wants you to be married before he passes away. You have returned into our lives as the palace Jewel that you have always been.
Like I said before, you are Alice to us and nothing is ever going to change that. I don't know who D4's father is, but we want you to return with a suitor.
You are the heiress. And every royal family wants to meet the responsible man who is worthy to be the princess' husband.
We've talked about this before. I don't want to talk about it with you again. What I want next is to see the practical response you give to my words.
You're a princess and princesses don't argue with their parents. I don't want excuses, what I want is another chance. Give someone a second chance.
But make your mind ready and fall in love with someone. Be careful not to pick just any man randomly, but go for someone who loves you.
And if the father of D4 is still alive, single and loves you, it would just be perfect. You have a few months to do that. The King isn't looking healthy again and he might pass away any moment soon. Do you understand me?" Clarion concluded.
