Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Lucas was busy in the office when a certain person knocked on his door. "The door is open," he said.
When the door opened, it was Nelly that came in. She looked calm and remorseful, standing before Lucas. It's been months but it seemed to her like yesterday.
She had betrayed him. She was with Phil and never thought she would fall apart with him. Now, she wants Lucas back and it doesn't seem as if he noticed her again.
Lucas raised his head and saw Nelly. He squinted and offered a seat "Take a seat" he said, capping his pen and placing it aside.
He folded his arms and glanced at her "You want to see him?" Lucas asked. He got the answer within himself. Of course she wants to see him, otherwise what would she be doing in his office?
Nelly nodded. She wanted to talk but it seemed the words got choked in her throat. She glanced at her fingers and fiddled with it.
"Okay. I'm with you" Lucas said in a tone of impatience. He doesn't have time to sit and face a woman who is fiddling with her fingers.
"I'm sorry Lucas?" Nelly blurted with tear filled eyes. She glanced at him but he appeared to be surprised.
"Sorry, about what?" Lucas inquired. He glared at Nelly. She was sorry after she taught him a lesson the hard way. She was sorry now?
Nelly raised her head in a daze. He didn't remember or was he faking it? He definitely was faking it before her. She had summoned up courage to approach him and apologise but for a long time, she got no courage to do so.
"For the past Lucas. I'm sorry. I did what was wrong and betrayed you" Nelly explained.
"You mean the past that I had with you?" Lucas asked, acting as if he just remembered that she was his mistress at a time.
Nelly nodded and Lucas chuckled aloud "oh! That? Forget it. I learnt a lesson and I moved on. I was a fool, but now, no more. So forget the past" Lucas declared and forced a smile.
He didn't wait for her but returned to his work and continued. Nelly saw him engrossed in the work and said "Lucas, please let's begin again"
She already knew that he had divorced his wife like he promised to do. Now, he's doing fine and lives alone. This is when to strike while the iron is hot.
Lucas paused in his work and raised his head, glaring at her "Begin again, you and I?" He asked, as if he didn't understand what those words meant.
"Yes. I still love you and I really regretted my past actions. But now, I want to be yours alone for the rest of my life" Nelly professed.
Lucas shrugged and asked "I thought you had a fiance" he declared, glaring intently at her. She thinks he is a fool, right?
She didn't know he had long graduated from the school of the fools. He now has a doctorate degree in being sensible.
"Phil and I broke up. It was after then that I realised how much I loved and missed you. I love you,Lucas. Please let's begin again" Nelly pleaded.
"Hmmm" Lucas hummed. When Phil left her, that was when she realised she loved and missed him. It appears he had passed his foolishness to her now.
Just then his phone chirped. He glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Alice. He can't remember giving her his complimentary card.
But he answered the phone "I least expected your call" Lucas said as soon as he answered the phone.
"I just felt like checking on you and Pamela gave me your contact. How have you been?" Alice said, chiming from the other end.
"I'm fine…"Lucas said. The two friends talked and Lucas would laugh. Nelly was seated. She felt jealous that he was so excited, talking to another woman.
"Okay, I promise you a dinner," Lucas said and laughed again. When he hung up, he placed his phone by the desk and glared at the woman in front of him.
His happy, cheerful countenance changed and he said "I'm sorry about you and Phil. But I am not interested in you anymore. If you don't have anything else to say, I have work to do"
He concentrated on his work, completely ignoring her. He still loves Pamela a lot. He knows he can't be with her anymore but he definitely can't imagine himself with Nelly again.
But if he finds a woman who loves him as much as Pamela used to love him, he would pour his love on her like a stream and shower her with affection.
The only thing that hasn't stopped troubling him is the fact that he is sterile. He can't just accept that fate. He needed to seek advanced medical help on it.
Anyways, he is still Lucas Wright. He would live his life in the present and not bother himself about the future yet. When the time comes, things will fall into place.
A week passed and Louis remained amnesia. Pamela was getting worried. Isn't it staying long? She only thought it would last for a few days but now, it's weeks.
How long will she have to endure seeing Louis in the arms of another woman? She is losing her mind on it. Isn't it getting more complicated?
She hopes she doesn't have to wait long anymore. Louis has to get out of his forgetful memory. The kids are asking her questions she cannot answer. They hadn't seen their dad and the one with his physical attributes, that they saw in their grandparents place called them kittens and sent them away.
"Oh! Louis, your kids and I are missing you. Please come back to us soon" Pamela mumbled.
Same morning, Louis was having breakfast. He wasn't feeling good that morning. Something is troubling him but he cannot lay his hands on it.
Miranda Alvan descended the stairs. She walked over to the dinning and kissed Louis' chin. She caressed his beards and sat down to have breakfast.
"Good morning," Louis said casually. He continued with his breakfast. Miranda was showing him love but he couldn't find that connection between them. Something is missing.
"Good morning honey,"Miranda Alvan replied. She was all smiles as the servant dishes her meal and then leaves.
She glared at Louis. Will he believe her? He would, after all he has no memory of the past six years. He would just gulp down whatever she tells him.
"Did the doctor say you are fine?" Louis asked. Miranda Alvan had told him that she hadn't been feeling alright for a few days.
He had advised her to go and see the doctor. But when he arrived home the previous night, she was asleep on the sofa in the sitting room. He carried her simply to the bedroom.
"Yes, I'm fine besides the good news" Miranda chimed. She was smiling broadly and glaring at Louis with a twinkle in her eyes.
Louis paused and fixed his gaze on her. He was expecting her to say something else but she was simply smiling. He made an eye language to her to tell him what she meant.
"Okay I will tell you. But before then, kiss my chin" Miranda requested. Louis giggled and said "I owe you that"
"You are going to be a father, Louis!" Miranda blurted.
