Chapter 157: Chapter 157

It was evidently clear that losing her temper with Sheng Jianan would bring her no benefits, so the best approach was simply not to provoke him.

Tang Yanqi looked at the scenery outside the window, and the car was extremely quiet until a soft "grumble" broke the silence. Her stomach growled, and Tang Yanqi’s composed face flushed slightly. Sheng Jianan turned to glance at her, a subtle smile appearing on his once stern face.

Sheng Jianan raised an eyebrow: "Hungry?"

Tang Yanqi felt even more embarrassed. Yes, she was obviously hungry, but was there really a need to be so blunt about it?

Tang Yanqi didn’t respond, and Sheng Jianan didn’t say anything further either. Instead, he drove her straight to a Western restaurant.

The place Sheng Jianan chose exuded high-end sophistication at every corner. Tang Yanqi lowered her head and followed him inside, quickly arriving at a small private room to sit down. Sheng Jianan seemed to frequent this place as he ordered his meal without even glancing at the menu.

Tang Yanqi looked at the menu presented to her but didn’t open it. She told the waiter, "I’ll have the same as him, thanks."

The waiter turned and left. Tang Yanqi took a sip of water and looked up, meeting Sheng Jianan’s playful gaze. Instinctively, she touched her face: "What is it?"

Sheng Jianan reverted to his usual bold demeanor, his eyes shining brightly: "The same as me? Do we have the same taste?"

In reality, there’s nothing wrong with ordering the same thing when dining together, but somehow, when Sheng Jianan questioned it, his words carried a peculiar undertone.

Tang Yanqi calmly took another sip of water and spoke steadily, "I have a class later, so ordering the same makes it quicker."

If there’s anyone in this world who could kill a conversation in a second, it would undoubtedly be Miss Tang Yanqi.

Sheng Jianan had ordered two sets of medium-rare steak meals, and when they arrived, he elegantly observed the steak’s grain and deliberately cut into it, unlike Tang Yanqi who appeared much more "brash" in comparison.

This "brashness" wasn’t due to exaggerated movements or lack of poise; it was simply because this was premium steak, and Tang Yanqi’s way of cutting and eating it seemed a waste of such excellent goods.

Watching her, Sheng Jianan furrowed his brow. Was this woman in a rush or did she just not know how to enjoy a steak?

Tang Yanqi didn’t pay any attention to Sheng Jianan. She was earnestly cutting her steak, thinking it was tedious. Clearly, the chef’s knife could’ve done this faster, so why not serve it pre-cut?

Finally, after Miss Tang had butchered half of the steak, Sheng Jianan couldn’t stand it any longer. He reached over to stop her, placing his own neatly cut steak pieces in front of her and taking her plate in return.

Tang Yanqi looked at Sheng Jianan’s actions, slightly dazed: "Why..."

Before she could finish her sentence, she felt a large hand reach over. Sheng Jianan used his thumb to swipe her mouth corner, wiping away the black pepper sauce there.

Tang Yanqi couldn’t utter a word, her heart suddenly racing, pounding as if it was about to leap out of her chest.

That feeling of her entire body going rigid, losing control, and the indescribable heat, was like thousands of ants crawling over the most tender part of her heart.

Suddenly jolting back to reality, Tang Yanqi quickly lowered her head. She could feel the burning of her cheeks and the nervous flutter in her heart.
