Wasted Spiritual Root to Embark on Demonic Cultivation Chapter 16
Paved with golden bricks and walls as white as snow, this was a luxurious residence.
According to the division of the Nine Peaks, outer and inner disciples lived interspersed, but on the nine twisted mountain peaks of the Blood Reversal Sect, only true disciples and elder-level cultivators were qualified to establish cave residences.
Those who had reached the Core Formation realm or were direct bloodline disciples preparing to break through into it held vastly different standings.
Steward Duan flew on a jade fork-shaped flying artifact, bringing Wang Yu to his new cave residence while introducing the situation at the base of the Nine Peaks.
“This area is formally known as the Ten Halls of Blood Reversal. Each of the Nine Peaks corresponds to one Hall. The extra Hall contains the sect’s public facilities.
“The Administration Hall, Mission Hall, Scripture Repository, Impartation Hall, Lecture Hall, Law Enforcement Hall Court, Alchemy Hall, Artifact Refinery Hall, Rank-One Treasure Vault… these buildings maintain the sect’s operations and are mostly located here.
“The place you are heading to is Cold Blood Hall, under the jurisdiction of Ice and Snow Pavilion, which is managed by True Disciple Su. Everyone there serves the master, so the competition is extremely fierce.
“You are merely a Spirit Slave. With your Wasted Spiritual Roots, being excluded is inevitable. True Disciple Su will not intervene on your behalf over minor matters. Remember this well.”
Wang Yu understood this clearly but disdained the fat man’s bullying under borrowed power. His words sounded caring but were in fact a warning not to assume Su would remember him just because he helped once.
Offending him would only bring suffering.
Of course, no matter how much disdain he felt inside, Wang Yu kept a respectful demeanor on the outside.
With a look of sincere acceptance, he made Steward Duan quite pleased.
Once they entered the Cold Blood Hall area, Wang Yu sensed that the spiritual energy here rivaled that of a mid-grade second-rank spiritual vein. He was pleasantly surprised.
Even on the main street, the concentration of spiritual energy was enough to support Foundation Establishment breakthroughs. Such places were rare.
Although he could rely on the Idle Slot to bypass this bottleneck, spiritual energy was still required. Breaking through to a higher realm required a large influx of external spiritual energy to complete the transformation.
Otherwise, he would have to rely on a massive quantity of spirit stones to meet the spiritual energy demands.
The Idle Slot only provided cultivation returns after full Major Circulations of spiritual energy and couldn’t instantly fulfill a large demand.
Thus, the Idle Slot could only relieve him of day-to-day cultivation energy needs, not the transformative leap of crossing major realms.
Though the Blood Reversal Sect was a demonic sect, its environment lacked nothing.
Cold Blood Hall housed ten pavilion towers, each representing the influence of one of the ten true disciples. The towers varied in size.
Ice and Snow Pavilion was one of the tallest spiritual towers. It had thirty-six floors, reaching into the clouds like a stairway to the heavens. It was protected by formations and built with extravagant luxury.
With Steward Duan leading the way, Wang Yu entered directly.
Apparently, Wang Yu was something of a celebrity here. At the reception on the first floor, an inner sect disciple wearing a purple-blood waist token came forward eagerly. His smile nearly reached his ears as he bowed repeatedly.
“Brother Duan, what wind brings you here today?”
His tone was respectful and fawning.
Steward Duan looked down at him as if through his nostrils, his face nearly parallel to the ceiling.
“You’re Zhao… Shang?”
“Yes, that’s me. I’m surprised Brother Duan still remembers me.”
“No need for chatter. This is Wang Yu, personally promoted by True Disciple Su from Spirit Slave to outer sect. Arrange a residence for him. He will be serving in Ice and Snow Pavilion from now on.”
The words Spirit Slave were spoken with extra clarity and emphasis.
Zhao Shang seemed thoughtful as he glanced at Wang Yu’s unique appearance. He chuckled lightly.
“Brother Wang, there’s no need to feel inferior. Although few Spirit Slaves advance in Cold Blood Peak, some of our peers from other peaks have also made it.”
“Thank you for the kind words, Senior Brother Zhao.”
“No need for formality.”
Zhao Shang waved his hand dismissively.
"Since you've joined under True Disciple Su's command, let me first introduce you to the Ice and Snow Pavilion."
Steward Duan suddenly interrupted.
"Wang Yu, you take care of the arrangements. I still have matters to attend to with the Spirit Slaves. I'm leaving."
"Alright."
Once he left, Zhao Shang immediately spat on the ground and cursed, "Useless trash relying on borrowed authority. What a joke, damn it."
He didn’t care that Wang Yu was standing right next to him, which genuinely stunned Wang Yu.
After cursing, Zhao Shang turned to look at Wang Yu and got straight to the point.
"I'll be frank. Duan Ping is just someone with connections. He's only in charge of the Spirit Slaves because of his bloodline ties to Desciple Su's maternal clan. Otherwise, that position wouldn’t be his."
Wang Yu wore a polite smile, showing no intent to comment.
This attitude made Zhao Shang nod in approval before continuing.
"Normally, any newcomer sent here must pay a proper tribute in order to be assigned a room in Ice and Snow Pavilion.
"Since you were personally designated by True Disciple Su and also come from the Spirit Slaves, I doubt you have anything valuable on you. Just go live on the tenth floor in one of the Qi Refining Chambers."
Wang Yu nodded repeatedly. Zhao Shang then took out an ice-blue token and tapped it against Wang Yu's waist badge. He also handed him a small booklet.
"The rules, and all the details about the Blood Reversal Ten Quarters, are written in here. Study it yourself. I won’t accompany you further."
"Alright, thank you..."
Before Wang Yu could finish, Zhao Shang had already walked off and returned to the first-floor counter to rest with his eyes closed, clearly slacking off.
Wang Yu wasn’t offended. As he walked toward the stairs, he flipped through the booklet and began studying it.
Ice and Snow Pavilion has thirty-six floors. The top floor is True Disciple Su’s room. He rarely stays there but often invites friends to host banquets and enjoy the view from the rooftop.
Floors two through nine are large banquet halls, able to accommodate up to two thousand people at once. They're filled with tables, benches, and private booths for conversations.
Floors ten through thirty are allocated to True Disciple Su's subordinates as Qi Refining Chambers. Each chamber is equipped with two first-rank formations: a Spirit Gathering Formation and a Mind-Calming Formation.
The former gathers and purifies ambient spiritual energy, making it gentle and ready for use. The latter soothes the mind and restores mental focus.
This setup allows Qi Refining cultivators to complete more rounds of major circulation in their early-stage cultivation, gradually increasing their speed of progress beyond the norm.
To be fair, the benefits here are quite good.
There are a full twenty floors, each with thirty Qi Refining Chambers, all offering the same effect. Ice and Snow Pavilion is the core of True Disciple Su’s power, but not just anyone can live here.
The dozen or so streets surrounding it are also within his sphere of influence, though those residences are for outer disciples. Those permitted inside the tower are almost exclusively inner disciples.
This alone showed how much Wang Yu was valued.
As for floors thirty-one through thirty-five, they house second-rank Qi Refining Chambers built with considerable investment from True Disciple Su. These are reserved for Foundation Establishment cultivators. Due to their smaller numbers, each of these floors only has two chambers.
Foundation Establishment cultivators have already risen above the bottom ranks. They're considered part of the mid-tier core force of the Blood Reversal Sect. Most own multiple properties and private cultivation caves within the Blood Reversal Ten Quarters, and many are eligible to serve as sect stewards.
This is the general layout of Ice and Snow Pavilion, but there is another rule closely tied to contribution points.
The tower has the authority to issue missions on behalf of the Mission Hall.
However, it charges a fifty percent commission as a task handling fee.
