Chapter 81: Chapter 81
“Drishti…” Shravan called out as he walked into the bedroom that night.
“Yes, Shravan.” Drishti, who was breast feeding Dhruv, looked up.
“You look tired.” Shravan said, seeing the stress lines around Drishti’s face. He felt as if the mischievous spark in her eyes dimmed.
“That is because I am hell tired. I never imagined managing Malhotra Constructions would be such a tiring task. How did Paa manage all these years?” Drishti asked with a sigh.
Shravan shot a fond smile at her.
“I should have handed over the construction business to Damini and taken over Maa’s floral business instead.” Drishti said and Shravan rolled his eyes.
She is talking about handing over such a huge business to a young girl who is not even eighteen.
“What do you think about a weekend getaway?” Shravan asked and Drishti looked up at Shravan in surprise.
It’s always her who pesters him for weekend getaways. It is such a task to get him away from the laptop. And here, the workaholic is asking about going on a weekend trip.
What a miracle?
“Of course, Shravan. Do you even need to ask?” Drishti asked with a chuckle.
“Great. I will pack, while you put him to sleep.” Shravan said, caressing the drooping baby’s cheeks.
As the weekend approached, Drishti and Shravan found themselves discussing where they should go for their much-needed getaway.
Drishti sat down on the couch with a travel magazine in hand, flipping through the pages excitedly. "How about a quaint little hill station instead of a beach side this time? We can enjoy some fresh air, nature walks, and just relax away from the city chaos."
Shravan nodded in agreement.
"That sounds perfect. How about Ootty? It’s around six hours away from Bangalore.. We can book a cosy cottage and enjoy the serene surroundings.”
Drishti's eyes lit up with enthusiasm, "Yes, that's a brilliant idea! We can also take Dhruv with us. It'll be like a little family vacation."
Shravan smiled, "Absolutely. Spending quality time together will be so refreshing. I'll make sure to clear my schedule so we can have an uninterrupted weekend. We both have been caught up with work for a while now."
With the destination settled, they spent the next day preparing for the trip. Shravan packed clothes for all of them, making sure to include Dhruv's favourite toys. He also arranged for a trusted employee to handle urgent matters at the construction company while they were away.
Finally, on Friday afternoon, they set off on their adventure. The drive was filled with laughter and chatter, as they sang along to their favourite songs and shared memories from their early days of marriage.
As they reached the hill station, they were greeted by the sight of rolling hills.
"This place is like a dream," Drishti said, gazing out of the car window.
Shravan parked the car and took Dhruv in his arms. "Let's take a stroll around the town and explore the local markets."
They wandered through the charming streets, trying local delicacies and shopping for souvenirs. The stress of their busy lives seemed to melt away, replaced by the joy of being together as a family.
In the evening, they settled into their cosy cottage, with a breathtaking view of the valley. Drishti and Shravan sat on the balcony, Dhruv sleeping peacefully beside them. The silence was comfortable, and they felt a deep connection without the distractions of work and responsibilities.
"This is what we needed, Shravan. Time to just be with each other," Drishti whispered.
"I couldn't agree more," Shravan replied, gently wrapping his arm around her.
Shravan gently bent down and captured her lips in a scorching kiss. It was a cold night and they needed each other’s warmth.
Under the starlit sky, Drishti and Shravan rekindled their love, their lips melting into each other's as they savoured the moment. It was as if time stood still, and the world around them faded into oblivion, leaving only the passionate connection they shared.
As the night progressed, they found themselves lost in each other's embrace, sharing laughter, dreams, and their deepest desires. The flickering light from the fireplace danced on their faces, painting a picture of love and intimacy. In that serene setting, they felt free from the burdens of everyday life, and their hearts felt light and joyful.
The next day, they set out to explore the natural beauty of Ooty. Hand in hand, they trekked through lush green Botanical gardens, admired the cascading waterfalls and breathing in the crisp mountain air. Every moment was etched into their hearts, creating memories they would cherish forever.
Back at the cottage, as the sun began to set, they cuddled on the couch, wrapped in a warm blanket, with Dhruv napping peacefully beside them. Drishti rested her head on Shravan's shoulder, feeling grateful for this precious time together.
"You know," Shravan spoke softly, "these moments make me realise how important it is for us to take time for ourselves, away from work and responsibilities."
Drishti nodded, looking up at him with loving eyes. "You're right, Shravan. We should do this more often—just focus on us and our love. Laptop isn’t everything.” Drishti couldn’t help the funny jab.
Shravan chuckled at that.
“What have you made me into, Drishti. The Shravan five years ago and the Shravan now are completely different.” Shravan said with an amazed chuckle.
“You started living only after I came into your life, Shravan. Until then, you were only eating, breathing and sleeping, work.” Drishti said with a scoff.
Shravan acknowledged the truth in that statement. And he was relieved to see that mischievous spark in her eyes again. Something that he loves the most.
With that realisation, he vowed to make more room for such getaways in their lives. The weekend served as a reminder of the love they shared, a love that had grown stronger with every challenge they faced together.
As the weekend came to an end, they returned home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Their hearts were full of love and gratitude, ready to face the world hand in hand.
