Chapter 48: Chapter 48

I opened my eyes as I sat up, moving myself from Terry as he grinned at me.

"What-"

"You fell asleep." He stated as I wrapped the blanket around myself, quickly standing up from my position.

"Stop acting nice, Terry-"

"You're going to drive." Terry said while tossing keys to Trevor . I placed my hand on my neck and froze when I noticed an unfamiliar chain. I stared at the blue topaz dollar.

"What's this?" I asked ,holding up the chain.

"Just in case Alex catch up on your heartbeat."

"Not like he can sense it anyways, we're too far away-"

"You can't underestimate a pure blood, Henry. We're not anywhere close to their level," Terry stated as Henry scoff in annoyance before muttering something under his breath.

Wait, what if I used this chain to make a run for it? Is it possible? Maybe. Worth a try? I can remain hidden from the vampires..

"Alright, let's get in the tent as it's about to rain any second and I don't want-"

towards the tent. After getting inside, I zipped it close and I could see someone sat down in front of the tent. Terry? I just have to pretend to sleep for an hour or so before I make a move. I hope this works. If by any chance I get caught, Terry will never let it go.

An hour passed by . I heard someone zip up the tent. I opened my eyes and waited for their discussion. How could I sneak out without them noticing at all? Should I just-

I stopped and gasped softly when a thunder struck on the sky followed by rain. Great, just great. But maybe this way, they can't sense my smell?

"We should leave now." I heard Terry yell from outside and I froze at his command.

"Make space at the backseat so that Katy can sleep." Terry said and then nothing. No voices, no footsteps, nothing. Did they leave? take the chance, Katy!

With trembling hands and a pounding heart, I lifted up the tent from behind, just enough for me to squeeze through and found myself crawling out. I crawled myself towards a bunch of lush bushes before hiding behind a huge one.

I peeked through the bush and gulped when I noticed Terry and his brothers talking near the jeep, all of them soaking wet but they didn't mind. I wasn't able to hide as far away as I wanted to but they wouldn't know that now, would they?

I swiftly pulled back, pressing myself against the tree when I noticed Terry walking back towards the tent.

"Katy? Wake up now, we have to go. It's fucking raining," He called out aloud. "You can just sleep inside the jeep, we've already made space for you to-" He stopped midway as I inhaled deeply.

"Fuck! She got away!"

I held my breath as I didn't make any noise or movement.

"Find her, now!" Terry growled and I stayed in the bush before checking whether they were gone. Without thinking, I started running towards the jeep, my heart pounding loudly against my chest. I opened the door, got myself in before closing the door and hugging myself. It was freezing cold. They left the keys in here, so I got saved.

I started the jeep and took off. I don't know where the hell I was going but I keep on driving. Iglanced around the jeep, hoping that there was no one inside and stopped when I noticed a phone right next to my seat. I grabbed it and went through the contact list, praying that there was atleast one number I was familiar with and froze when it landed on a familiar name. David. No, It can't be, it's not the David I know, it has to be someone else.

"No, stop, Katy." I shook my head before going back and dialed my mother's number.

"Hello?"

"Mom?! It's me, Katy!"

"Katy?! What-"

"Listen to me, I got kidnapped by Terry, please inform Alex and-"

"What?! Who the hell is Terry and where are you?"

"Mom, please listen! I don't have time, just call Alex and tell him that I am probably out of town by now. I don't remember the road we took nor the street I am at right now. All I see are a lot of trees and-"

"Oh my god, "

" just inform Alex! Do you understand? I want you to call Alex right now!"

"Katy, are you okay? Why are they-"

"Wait! I just saw a sign, I'm in the lindal road, I just passed it, you have to call him now and-" I stopped and let out a scream when someone appeared right in front of the road, causing the car came to a sudden halt. The sudden force made my forehead hit on the wheel, hard, making my whole head dizzy and weak. With a groan, I looked up and my eyes widened when I saw Terry slowly get up from the ground, causing my jaws to drop open in horror. Did I hit him?!

I slowly looked up and met Terry as a sadistic smirk appeared on his face. I froze when I noticed him taking slow steps towards me as I desperately tried to start the jeep.

"Knock knock, sweetheart." Please start!

"I'll give you three seconds to come out of there, Katy." I pulled the vervain chain so that If Alex is near, he could hear me.

"One!"

"Fuck!" I yelled, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Two!" Terry banged his fists at the window and I screamed when the window shattered to pieces. The next thing I knew, Terry had opened the door and lunged towards me. He dragged me out as I let out a painful scream when my body hit the ground.

"Stop, you fucking freak!" I yelled, throwing my hands and legs . I gasped when he grabbed my neck from behind. "Nobody makes a fool out of me and gets away with it, sweetheart, not even you!" he spat before pushing me to the ground.

"Terry, please, I-" I started to crawl back when I noticed his eyes growing a shade darker. I screamed when he bolted towards me, ready to start running when he froze before glancing back in panic. The next thing I knew, he had disappeared from my sight and I froze when a bunch of guys appeared in front of me out of nowhere. My vision has become blurry, causing my head to feel dizzy.

"You're okay, Katy, we got you."

"We found her!"

I hear some familiar voices shout before darkness clouded my vision.

My eyes flattered open and I groaned, as I sat up on the bed. Oh, hell. I sighed in relief when I noticed Alex sitting on the bed.

"How-what happened?" I asked looking around to make sure I was in the right place again. I looked at Alex as he just sat still, staring at me. "Alex?" I called and stopped when I noticed his expression. His eyes are weary making him look so much paler. He didn't have to say anything for me to know exactly what he was thinking. It was clearly written all over his face.

"Alex, I'm fine, if you are thinking that what happened with Terry was your fault, then don't, because it's not." I said softly. I froze when his face was buried under my neck, his arms wrapped around my waist tightly. I started to pull away only to be yanked back into his arms and I finally let out a sigh when he buried his face inside my neck, again. I felt his jawline clench under my neck, causing goosebumps to rise all over my body.

"I was so worried," He barely choked out, his voice soft and hoarse, making my heart race ten times faster than it was before.

"Alex-"

"Just the thought of never seeing you again," I froze when I felt something hot and wet brush against my skin. "Really killed me inside."

Right now, he's-

"I'll never let him take you away again, so promise me that you'll never leave from me again." Alex's voice was a mere whisper.

"Alex, look at me-"

"Promise me!"

"I promise," I breathed inside his neck and I felt his jawline tighten under my neck before taking slow, shaky breaths.

"Thank you, Alex."

***

"I'm going to visit my parents right now,"

"I've already told them you're fine and-"

"But I am still going."

"You're not going anywhere, Rina, I made that very clear last night," I stiffened when I felt his shirt brush against mine from behind. "The answer is no, you're not-"

"I'm not asking for your permission, Alex," I turned to frown at him and noticed him flinch a little. "I am going to see them, whether I have to force myself out or not. They're my parents and they deserve to at least hold their daughter after knowing she was almost kidnapped, again." I emphasized and Alex simply stared at me but I gave him another determined look before walking past him, leaving the room.

"Joey, get off me!" I groaned, trying to push him off my body as he embraced me into the millionth hug.

"I thought we had lost you for sure this time." He whined again. I smiled and thanked them all.

"I'm really glad you're fine." David said but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to look at him at all.

" I'm visiting my parents today," I flinched when I noticed everyone immediately frown at my news. "Don't worry, I talked to Alex and maybe one of you can tag along with me, put me off and then pick me up when I give a call?"

"Katy, I really don't think it's safe for you to-"

"I'll only take a few hours." I cut off Franklin

"I'll go with you."

"No!" I snapped as soon as David started to get up and I noticed something flash in his eyes before the boys raised a brow at my outburst. "I can just go with Rihana, if she doesn't mind?" I looked at her and surprisingly, she nodded with a smile. What was wrong with me? Did I actually believe Terry when he said David working for him? I mean, his phone number really-

"Let's go before Alex changes his mind, sweetie." Rihana got up as I glanced at Alex, whose eyes locked on mine as I stood up as well.

"Rina"

"It'll only take an hour or so." I cut him off immediately and hurried my way out with her. I got into the car and saw Alex walking out, his eyes not ripping away from me as we drove off.

x-x

"Are you sure you're fine?" my mom asked softly as she placed a plate of chicken nuggets on the table. I quickly nodded and hugged her again before turning to eat my food.

"We were so worried-"

"Mom, just leave it." I replied curtly, her eyes still glimmering in tears.

"If living with Alex is putting you in danger then-"

"Mom, it's fine, we don't have to go there," I cut her off, slightly hurt and frustrated by her words.

"We were only trying to-"

"It doesn't matter now." I smiled weakly before continuing to finish up the food. I can't ruin today, a chance like this was hard to come. Ana came by and explained why she left without telling me. Her father was sick.

Hours passed with us talking about Terry. She would curse every five seconds and go on about how Alex was irresponsible for not being able to take care of me and how she will torture Terry.

"Katy," Mom suddenly came inside the room and I snapped my head to look at her panicked form. "It's Alex." She said softly, handing me her phone and I let out a sigh before taking it.

"Yes?"

"It's already 9 pm, you said you will only take an hour."

"Alex I'm fine, stop worrying." I stopped when I heard him let out a sigh.

"Come back right now." He said in a dangerously low tone . He was getting mad now.

"Alex-"

"Come back right now, Rina."

"I'll be there in a while, ok." I said finally and hung up the phone .

A few moments later, doorbell ring.

"I'll get the door," Ana shouted and I paused the movie we had been watching in the living room. "What?" Ana trail off as I turned to look at Alex walking in, causing my jaws to drop open.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" I asked stupidly, glancing at my parents, who were now bowing their heads in respect. His eyes met mine and I gulped softly, causing a shiver down my spine.

"We're leaving." He said softly yet harshly and grabbing my hand, almost dragging me out as I motioned my parents to call me back.

"Did you eat?" I asked Alex as we got out of the car . He didn't look up to meet my gaze now. His face looked exhausted, or sad? Or was he hurting? I walked into the mansion first with Alex trailing behind me .

"You look tired, you should eat, I can join you if you want-" I gasped when he grabbed my hand before spinning me around and the next thing I knew, his lips are locked perfectly on mine, his hands already tangled around my neck as he deepened the kiss.

"Wait," I mumbled in between the kiss, pulling away only to be pulled back in as we stumbled our way up the stairs, not parting our lips the whole way. I blushed when I realized how rough the kiss was and kept stumbling every now and then as Alex guided me to my room.

"Alex-" I pulled away and gasped when he pushed me against the door, pausing to look for just a second before leaning into another kiss, causing the butterflies in my stomach to go on a rampage. I mentally whined when he pulled away, pressing his forehead against mine before staring into my eyes, calming down his heavy breaths.

"What?" I whispered, hoping he would explain why he just kissed me out of the blue. He narrowed his eyes a little before they flickered on my lips again, causing my breath to hitch. Just as his lips were about to brush against mine, his gaze landed back on my eyes before he pulled away, making me frown in confusion.

" Wear something nice and less revealing. " With that, he took off.

"What a weird and wasteful event." I sighed, glancing at Alex, who was literally still staring at me, causing me to sigh in annoyance.

"Does he not know that it's rude to stare?" I grumbled under my breath and I saw him raise a brow as those words left my mouth.

"He can hear you, my lady." The maid chuckled before bowing to me and then leaving me behind.

"Hey." A familiar voice caused a shiver down my spine and I slowly turned around to face David as he smiled at me. I didn't even bother to smile, instead, I just nodded, turning to leave when he grabbed my hand, spinning me around.

"Are you mad at me or something?"

"What?"

"You've been avoiding me ever since you returned, is everything okay?" he squeezed my hands and I went silent, quickly brushing it away and shaking my head.

"I'm just tired." I lied, not meeting his eyes and looked for Alex but to my disappointment, he was now talking to Rihana .

"Katy-"

"Leave me alone, please." I said quickly, pushing him away and gasped when he appeared in front of me, causing me to take a step back. I saw the hurt flash in his eyes before he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"Katy, what's wrong?" his voice was soft and gentle, causing my heart to skip a beat. I've forgotten how kind and nice David was to me. He could never hurt me like that, could he?

"David, do you want to talk to me about anything? Anything from your past?" I asked, scratching my neck as he gave me a blank look before shaking his head slowly.

"Why? Do you want to talk about something?" He asked with a short laugh and I shook my head.

"I need to get some fresh air." I said, quickly walking past him and started making my way to the terrace.

After stepping out to the terrace, I let out a long sigh and jumped up in surprise when David appeared right next to me.

"You scared me!" he chuckled softly before jogging towards a bunch of speakers and I frowned at his behavior in confusion.

"Choose a song." Vincent urged me to come closer and I hesitated, feeling really uncomfortable that we are up here alone. There is still a chance that he was the one who was giving information to Terry. The traitor amongst us. "Hurry." He jogged back to me and I flinched a little before smiling weakly.

"Why?"

"I want to have one dance with you before tonight gets over." He flashed me a grin and I couldn't help but fell at his words.

"That's- I don't know. We should go back inside."

"Alright, I'll choose a song then." He brushed me off before going through his phone. Reluctantly, I walked up to him and stiffened when he turned to face me, his eyes peering right into mine.

"I don't think we should be here-"

"Please, one dance?" he held out his hand and my heart sank when the song started. I smiled a little and took his hand, making our way to the open area.

"You look beautiful."

"I didn't even brush my hair tonight nor dress up-"

"Katy, that's really not the point." He laughed and I couldn't help but laugh as well before we took our positions, slow dancing.

I won't lie to you,

I know he's just not right for you.

The song started and I stiffened a little when he pulled my back closer to his body, making my heart race faster than ever.

"I am a horrible dancer, David."

"That, I can't deny." His words dripped in sarcasm.

"Asshole." I hissed at him, making a face but the smile on my face didn't fade away.

"Does it have to be Alex?" My eyes widened, making my mind go completely blank. What?

"Wh-what?" I barely whispered out and my heart stopped when he closed his face to mine, our nose almost touching each other's.

"I asked you if it really has to be Alex?" he whispered back and I stumbled back but David managed to hold my waist, pulling me back up immediately.

I'll stop time for you,

The second you say you'd like me to.

I just wanna give you the loving that you're missing,

Baby, just to wake up with you.

"I really like this song." I quickly changed the subject, laughing nervously.

"Yeah, I chose this for you."

"Dance." He looked away this time, grabbing my waist and proceeds to dance. Not being able to face him, I rested my head on his chest, my heart pounding loudly against my chest as I tried to come up with right words.

I don't know why, but listening to the song saddened me and guilt took over within seconds.

"David." I started but he pulled away before spinning me around and pulling me back into his arms.

"You don't have to say anything, I just want you to know." He smiled as I was silent, not knowing what to say anymore.

"I am really sorry," I started softly, my heart aching at my own words as he let out a sigh. "I really am-"

I was about to pull away but gasped when I lost balance, stumbling back in the process.

"Careful-" David tried to grab me as I fell and the next thing I knew, his body was on top of mine and I could feel my cheeks heating up in embarrassment as he started to get up.

"Sorry, I-" He froze halfway upon hearing the door opening with a hard slam and both David and me looked up to see Alex walking in. His eyes searched the place briefly before it landed on me and within seconds, it grew a shade darker, his jawline clenching before he bolted up to us.

"Alex, what are you doing here-" I gasped when he grabbed my hand, jerking me up as David got up as well. Before I could even explain , Alex punched him on the jaw and I gasped in horror, covering my mouth as I backed away. David stumbled back before standing up. I looked at Alex, who was still glaring at him, his hands balled into a fist in anger.

"I warned you to back the fuck off!" Alex growled, grabbing him by the collar, jerking him closer . I was about to push Alex away from him when David looked at me, his lips slightly busted already.

"Sorry." He said looking at me before brushing Alex's hands roughly and walking towards the door.

"David, wait-" I moved past Alex but stopped when he grabbed my wrist. David left and I turned to look at Alex as he face me as well, the grip he had on my wrist tightening up as he glared at me, biting the inside of his cheeks in anger.

"What are you doing?" he asked in a dangerously low tone.

"I am not doing anything, you are the one who's jumping into conclusions without considering the situation-"

"Situation?" he raised a brow, the corner of lips slightly curling upwards before his eyes grew a shade darker again. "When I got here, he was on top of you, what the fuck,Rina?!" he yelled and I jumped a little at his outburst. "Did I interrupt your date?"

"Wha-what?" I asked in disbelief. How could he think so low of me?

"I asked you if I was interrupting something back here?" he asked, his gaze not leaving mine.

"I don't want to explain." I said sharply, my eyes now glistening with tears but I held them back.

"Are you telling me, to think whatever I want?"

"I am telling you to grow up and to stop using violence to justify your jealousy!" I raised my voice as he went silent. "It really frustrates me and I can't stand to see you hurt someone I care about." I started leaving when he grabbed my hand again, this time with less force.

"If I work on that," he said in a low tone and I turned to look at him. "Can you promise to stay away from him?"

"He's your brother-"

"All the more reason why I can't stand it, Rina!" He spat and hissed at the same time.

"I can't just ignore him. More importantly, before you ask me to take care of anything, why don't you sort out your own feelings first?" I yanked my hand away . He opened his mouth to defend himself when someone appeared in front of us, causing me to gasp.

"Trevor is refusing to talk-" he stopped as soon as he saw me and I narrowed my eyes at Joey in confusion before looking at Alex, who was now glaring at Joey in annoyance.

"Trevor? As in the Trevor from the Mendez brothers-" I paused to look at Danny, who flinched a little before shaking his head quickly. An obvious lie. "Is he here?" I questioned Alex, who was still staring at Joey before meeting my gaze.

"Did-did you by any chance, held him as a hostage?" I asked in disbelief, my mouth slightly opening in surprise before Alex broke our gaze.

"He's only getting what he deserves."
