~ UNKNOWN POV
"What do you mean he sent all the money!" I hear Boss barking on the phone. I am standing outside his door but I can hear every single thing he is saying. His voice is too audible that it feels like he is talking right in front of me. I have to say, I am surprised that he is speaking in English, he hardly communicates in that language.
"Whatever it is, I don’t want to listen to your fucking explanations, just do as I say." He rants
Holy shit! This man seems to be more frustrated than usual. I wonder what evil barked into his head today. Seems like I came on the wrong day and certainly at the wrong time.
I exhale, mentally preparing myself to walk inside the office. As I turn the doorknob, and was about to push the door open, my actions halt when Piper speaks.
"Don’t go in there, I am telling you." She warns. Piper is Boss’s secretary. She is a blonde-haired woman who appears to be in her late twenties.
"This is his fifth call today and he seems to get angrier. Take my advice come back tomorrow." She tells me.
I don’t respond to her immediately as I check her out, that blue gown sure hugs at the right places.
"I think I can handle him," I finally respond.
Piper is right, he seems very angry today and now is not the right time to meet him but I can’t come back tomorrow he specifically asked me to come tomorrow. The last thing I want to do is disobey him.
She shrugs "Whatever you say."
I am about to speak when I hear Boss yelling on the phone again. "Always remember Jennie, you don’t fucking control your life, I control it for you. Make another mistake and you will fucking regret it!" He barks through the phone.
I will be lying if I say that it didn’t move me back. I begin to wonder why he asked me to meet him today. I know that it has to do with the recent incident but what I am confused about is why he told me to meet him at his office. He has never told me to meet him here.
"You still think you can handle meeting him today?" Piper ask pulling me out of my thoughts
"I don’t have a choice." I shrug before I knock on the door
"Come in," Boss says from inside. I turn my gaze to Piper who seems to be more anxious than me
"Here goes nothing," I say as I turn the doorknob and step inside.
Inside, I find him standing by the window. He turns around to face me, he has a cigarette in his mouth. I Immediately lower my gaze knowing that if our eyes meet, I will be dead.
"я прихожу с миром и ухожу с миром [I come in peace and I leave in peace]" I say with my gaze still facing the ground
"Поговори со мной [Speak to me]" He says walking towards me.
"Вы просили меня, сэр [You asked for me, sir.]"
"О, да, я сделал[Oh, yes, I did.]" His voice suddenly softens. Whenever it softens it means he’s too angry to shout.
I hold onto where I stand praying he wouldn’t take my life away. He is used to killing people without a valid reason and with the way he sounds, I am sure he has a reason to kill me.
He opens his mouth to speak but then clamps it shut. "Вы испортили большое время [You messed up big time.]" He tells me and I gulp the lump that forms in my throat
"Простите меня, сэр. Я сделаю все, что нужно, чтобы исправить свою ошибку [Forgive me, sir. I will do anything it takes to fix my mistake.]"
He starts to laugh but stops at a moment, "Ты идиот. [You idiot]." He snaps and grips my face in his hands. I feel his thumb press hard into my jaw making it impossible for me to set myself free from his cold tight hold.
"Tы думаешь, что можешь просто все исправить и сделать все хорошо! [You think you can just fix things and make everything fine!]" My nose get assaulted with the dank stench of cigarette when he spoke.
I am about to apologize when a knock was heard on the door. Boss turns his gaze to the door and barks "Come in."
Three muscular men dressed in black shirts and pants walk into the cabin. One of them is holding a suitcase, the suitcase is in a shape of a box so I can tell that it’s containing a gun. He keeps the suitcase on the desk.
"У нас есть ваше оружие, сэр. [We have your weapons, Sir.]" The man says, his gaze on the ground
"Это замечательно, ты пришел как раз вовремя, мне было интересно, что я буду использовать, чтобы убить этого сукина сына [That's wonderful, you came right in time, I was wondering what I would use to kill this son of a bitch!]" Boss says puffing up the cigarette smoke.
My eyes widen and my heart starts going a mile a minute. He is going to kill me. I begin to panic when Boss speaks "открыть коробку [Open the box.]" He commands the men.
My heart was hammering in my chest as my breath become short and fast, feeling like no matter how much I breathe in I’m not getting enough oxygen into my lungs. I have to do something, I can’t just let him kill me. I have a son, he won’t be able to survive without me. I look around not knowing what to do. I know I can’t run away and definitely I can’t attack him. I decide to turn to my last option. I have to beg him. Beg till my lungs give out.
"Нет, пожалуйста, сэр. Я умоляю вас. Не делай этого [No, please sir. I beg of you. Don’t do it.] I beg him.
He scoffs ignoring me. One of the men opens the box and my eyes went wide. Oh my God! That’s one of the most expensive guns in the world. It comes with its special bullet and it’s sharper than anything I’ve ever seen. The gun itself shoots faster than thunder.
"Пожалуйста, не делайте этого, сэр. Пожалуйста
[Please, don’t do this sir. Please]" I plead with him. I am down on my knees and I continue to beg him.
He ignores me again and he holds the gun in his hand. I crawl to his leg pleading with him "Пожалуйста, пощади меня, я сделаю для тебя все, только не убивай меня. [Please spare my life, I will do anything for you just please don’t kill me] I beg
The men watch me as I beg but they didn’t say a word. Again, Boss scoffs, I must be amusing him. He points the gun on my head and my heart melts knowing that it’s over for me.
"Произнеси свои последние молитвы [Say your last prayers]" He tells me
"Пожалуйста, не делайте этого, сэр. Я умоляю вас. Я сделаю все, только пожалуйста, не убивай меня. [Please don’t do this sir. I beg of you. I will do anything just please don’t kill me]"
"Почему я не должен? Назови мне одну вескую причину, по которой я должен пощадить твою жизнь [Why shouldn’t I? Give me one good reason why I should spare your life.]" He says
I start to think of a good reason when he suddenly pulls the trigger. My heart stops beating and I speak without thinking it through.
"Потому что я приведу к тебе Рэйчел Моранзино.[Because I will bring Rachel Moranzino to you.]"
He begins to take the gun away from my head as he looks like he is thinking. Relief waves through me but halts once he brings the gun to my head.
"Вы не могли помешать им добраться до Элис и не могли помешать им сжечь мою фабрику. Как я могу быть уверен, что вы сможете осуществить это? [You couldn’t stop them from getting to Alice nor could you stop them from burning down my factory. How will I be sure that you will be able to pull this off?]"
"Я следую за ней повсюду, куда бы она ни пошла, я знаю ее расписание. Просто поверьте мне, сэр, я обещаю вам, что доставлю вам Рэйчел Моранзино. [I follow her everywhere she goes, I know the in and out of her schedule. Just trust me, sir, I promise you I will get Rachel Moranzino to you.]" I tell him
He thinks about it for a while because he responds "Хорошо, но если ты не доставишь ее ко мне, ты потеряешь не только свою жизнь, но и своего ребенка-инвалида. [Fine, but if you fail to get her to me, you won’t only lose your life but your handicapped child as well.]"
"Не буду, сэр. я обещаю [I won’t sir. I promise.]"
He turns around and walks to his chair. He leans against it while lighting up another cigarette.
"Приведи ее ко мне, и я прослежу, чтобы она заплатила за каждый ущерб, причиненный мне Ричи Моранзино. [Get her to me and I will make sure she pays for every damage Richie Moranzino has caused me.]" Boss says
I nod standing up. I feel a satisfying sensation of relief rushing through my body. I am so glad I mentioned Rachel if I had mentioned someone else I would have been dead by now. My first thought was to mention John’s name but then I come to think about it, Boss has an ongoing problem with Richie, and Rachel being Richie’s fiancé will be the perfect fit for his revenge and I guess I’m right, Rachel is the perfect fit. It will be like a payback for Boss, Richie took Alice away from him by saving her life, and as a payback Boss takes Rachel.
