Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Scarlett stunned me this morning with the little game she played, then to throw a candy at me like that. Guess I had that coming, but it gave me a good laugh.
I have left her to do her thing at her shop. During lunch she did seem so happy to be out of the house and there with the girls. So, leaving her be knowing they will call if something comes up, I get to work on some of the vehicles we have on the lot.
I don't plan on taking much time off from working at the shop, a few days at the most. It is just Alex and I, so I don't want to leave him for a week with no one here but himself to manage everything.
With work being done for the day, Scarlett told me she had called ahead and ordered us some food for dinner. So, I help her in the truck and we make the way to the Diner to pick it up.
The entire drive, I notice Scarlett rubs on her bump some and moves around.
"Trying to get comfortable?" I finally ask.
"Yeah, I think that I need to walk some. I'm not sure, but I am cramping some like I have had before and walking eased it." She sighs.
Stopping at the red light, I look over to see her better and try not to laugh at how she is sitting in the seat. Scarlett has one leg up on the middle seat and sitting half on and half off the seat, while holding onto the dash.
"Do you want me to pull over to the curb, so you can at least stretch out your legs some? We are a few miles from the house, but we can see if it will ease up for you."
"No, just get us home please." Scarlett huffs.
In no time, I am pulling us in the driveway. I jump out and help her out with how she was sitting.
Once, I have her standing in front of me, I gently hold her hips to make sure she is stable. I go to ask her if she is okay, but my shoe is wet all of a sudden.
"Liam, I think we need to get inside and change." Scarlett holds my hand.
"That was just."
"Yeah, my water broke. We have time to change at least before we go in." Scarlett waddles up the stairs.
Getting in the house, Scarlett goes and cleans up after telling me to at least eat my food. Never in my life have I had a full burger and fries within a three minute time frame, but tonight I just did it.
Grabbing a new pair of sock and shoes, I change them quickly and Scarlett grabs the clothes bag. We are back in the truck with a towel in under her in less than fifteen minutes.
"Text everyone so that way they know. I don't want them to be upset." Scarlett tells me before I start the truck.
Sending out a group text to them. I start the truck and get us to the hospital in a good time. Scarlett has let out a few groans as the contractions started getting closer and more apparent since her water broke.
I open the door for her, but she grabbed my phone when it went off.
"Liam I am going to get your behind. You told everyone his name." Scarlett flips the phone around for me to read what I sent them.
Sure enough, I text them that I was taking Scarlett in because Lucas is making his appearance very soon.
"At least it is just his first name." I give a sheepish smile.
Scarlett gives a small laugh before she sucks in a breath. Helping her out and on the floor we needed to be on.
After the nurses checked her and told us she was around the four cenimeters dilated, they left with Scarlett hooked up.
I sit in the chair next to the bed and rub her hand.
"You was just excited. It has been hard to keep his name a secert, but I can't wait to see how Alex reacts to his full name though." Scarlett smiles, before she squeezes my fingers off.
"On second thought, get that nurse back. I want those drugs she was talking about. I don't want to do this without them." Scarlett huffs.
"The epidural where you get a needle in your spine. Scarlett you hate needles and told me to talk you out of it."
"If you even dare I will smack your head off and you can push this baby out." Scarlett glares.
I hold my hands up and find our nurse again. Within a short time they have placed the epidural and Scarlett is resting though the labor since she is numb. It does seem easier not having the pain of contractions causes.
Some point I must have dozed off with the nurses coming and going checking on her progress. Scarlett woke me when she said there was a lot of pressure, so I was quick to hit the nurse button.
The nurse comes in quick and says it is baby time. That is when everything gets crazy and the doctor comes in with several others.
Before long Scarlett is pushing, while I hold her hand and leg.
I watch Scarlett bring our son into the world and it is the best moment of my life hearing his little cries. Scarlett gets to hold him, while the doctor has me cut the cord and then the nurses take him to clean him up.
Giving Scarlett a long kiss to make sure she knows how happy she has made me, I pull back and they bring our son back. The nurse places Lucas in her arms and tears form in my eyes.
"He is perfect." Scarlett kisses his head after the nurses and doctors leave.
Scarlett hands Lucas to me and I am scared with how small he is that I could hurt him. Scarlett watches as I hold him and I kiss her again. Before long he is ready to be fed and the nurse comes in the help show Scarlett different positions, while he catches on like a pro.
Scarlett and I get him into his little outfit a few hours after bonding with him, to get a picture and send it to everyone.
I send the text and see that Scarlett and Lucas are asleep. My phone dings as everyone responses and Maddy saying that Alex is in tears.
I smile and join Scarlett on the bed pulling her into my arms.
