Chapter 14: Chapter 14
Waking up with a genuine smile on my face is the best feeling I have had in a long time. Last night just having dinner and walking back felt like a dream.
No, the dream would be how his lips felt on mine. If my heart could beat any faster it would have broke free and ran away into the moonlight street.
It was like even after coming home and getting ready for bed, I could still taste him and feel his touch.
Walking to the shower, I turn the water on to a nice warm setting. I slip in and the entire time I am shampooing and washing down, my mind is replaying the date.
I woke up extra early this morning, so once I dry off I plug in the curling iron. Might as well do something nice today.
Who am I kidding? I really just want to look nice for if Liam comes into the shop today.
If he doesn't though, that is tricky. Do I go to him? Or will that seem to desperate?
This would be much easier, if I at least had his number. There was several times I thought about it last night but I didn't want to over step my bounds.
Plus, I don't want to rush this. Especially because this is a good thing and I don't want it to end.
The one thing that has gotten me hurt in the past, I tend to fall to hard and to fast. Once I have already fell head over heels, that is when I notice things that are not right. Either there is no conversations, or little white lies I may catch and it never fails it is when I fell hard and fast.
In no time, my hair is curled with a little bounce and I am dressed slipping on my flats.
Before I know it, I am in the coffee shop opening for the day. Maddy was here just a minute before I was.
"You are all smiles this morning. I take it you found new flavors for Thanksgiving?" Maddy asks, studying me.
"Actually no, we will be going over those in between rushes today. I may have had dinner with Liam last night after you left with Alex." I giggle, donning my apron.
"That is amazing!" Maddy jumps, pulling me in for a hug.
"I truly enjoyed it, but I don't want to get my hopes up and fall to fast. Even though it seems to be the way things are going. I never thought a night stand of just doing something spontaeous would result in this and with Liam it just feel so natural." My cheeks blush.
"It is not like you to really blush either, but yet you are staying that lovely shade of pink anytime his name comes up." Maddy smiles.
I go to wipe down the counter out of habit for things to do in the morning. Even if we clean it all the time, it never hurts to wipe it down again.
"We are all set too for Saturday. All we have to do it set up the decorations. Do you have your costume?" Maddy rambles.
I completely forgot! Saturday is Halloween and we always decorate the shop and then on Halloween day run specials all day.
On top of that we are open late into the night, because have loads of candy for the children that will be trick-or-treating.
"I was just going to wear the costume from last year." I ponder.
"You know the children will realize that. They miss nothing." Maddy laughs.
"I will look online for something that won't be so revealing. That is the only down fall for most of the women costumes they want to show to much. Oh, I need to make sure we have plenty of sugar free creams." I point and run to the fridge in back.
"Can't forget the pooches! All those little doggies love us on Halloween." Maddy adds, before customers start walking in.
I am counting the amount of cream we have. Got plenty in that area. Next is the small open containers, to put the cream in for the pups. All which we have more than enough of as well.
The stove bell dings, telling me the bagels are complete. I take them out of the oven and placed on the tray.
Rushing them to get the delicious things in the display case.
"Those look so good." A deep voice pulls me to look up quickly.
Not paying a bit of attention when the tray slips and my thumb catches the heat from it. I put the tray down in the case and rub my thumb, getting the sting out.
Liam stands watching me.
"Good morning! Did you want one?" My voice wobbles.
"Tempting, but I think I will stick to a coffee. First, you need to run that under some cold water." Liam points to where I am rubbing my thumb.
"It will be fine in a minute. Happens all the time. Hard to not get some type of burn when working in an area like this." I try to joke.
Truth is, I have had my fair share of burns. The coffee machines tend to sting at times, but it is all worth it. Plus, after a good burn you tend to learn your lesson and not move or do the same thing twice.
Liam looks a little uneasy. I turn and make up a latte that I had done last night.
"You're the first to try this other than myself. So tell me what you think and if you like it too it will be a special holiday flavor." I whisper out, since other customers are in the shop.
"What is it?" Liam eyes it funny.
"Just some cream and maple. I wasn't sure if you can have nuts so I left them out. It will be a drink that will have the nut option with no extra charge." I explain.
"So how is my baby coming along? Alex said it was the engine." Maddy asks, Liam.
"We are working on rebuilding it. Should be done today with us both working on it." Liam smiles, but it is not the same smile he gives me.
"Well, you and Alex need to get some decoration for Halloween in a few day. The children love to walk down the side walks and doing their little thing." Maddy winks at me, while telling Liam.
"Okay, that is good to know. We will figure something out then. I have to get to the shop, so Alex isn't doing all the work." Liam laughs.
