Javier's POV
Phew, am on a roll today. I've fired five people just this morning and am not even In a bad mood. One girl had too much makeup on and was exposing so much skin, how does she expect the male workers to concentrate? She came to me batting her fake eyelashes and I fired her immediately, she wasn't a serious person. A Delilah, no offense to those who are named Delilah, set a bad example in the Bible, used as reference forever.
Then I called an emergency meeting to introduce I and my crew (Megan and Regina) especially Megan who no one has seen before and a phone rang disrupting our attention, I fired the owner of the damn phone, another lady was gossiping while I was busy trying to capture the attention and likeness of my audience, I fired her too.
I also fired a maid who forget to clean the extra table I asked for and instead put it dusty in the office, and then finally Lynch the man whore.
How dare he look at Megan that way? And why did she have to give a dazzling smile back at him? I was mad at her and all the rest of the people who kept staring at her, maybe it wasn't a good idea to get her these new shiny clothes after all. Nah, I liked them on her, she looked beautiful and classy. If I fired everyone who looked at her today the firm would empty in less than an hour, so after the Lynch guy, I controlled myself, but I was fuming inside, maybe I am in a bad mood.
"Meg come along”I said to her as I lead her into my huge office that had Mr Altamira written boldly in gold color.
"This is your office “I said showing her the table and rolling chair that was kept at one seclusive side of my office. Yep am keeping her close by away from vultures like Lynch.
"Wow , thanks Mr Altamira”she said taking a seat and spinning excitedly, making me smile and forget my anger.
"Mr Altamira huh?”I asked getting the carton that was at the corner of the room.
"Yea that is what Regina and everyone here call you, am doing same, wouldn't want to get fired”She said looking at the carton curiously.
"Yea but since we are partners in crime, you are allowed to call me Javier or pretty boy”I said as she blushed.
"Yes, pretty boy"
I got out a new laptop and a new phone from the carton and handed it over to her.
"No I can't take this I already have a phone and a laptop”she said.
"It’s from the company, you can give your old laptop and phone to your friends and family”I said strolling over to my seat at the other side, close to the massive glass window, from which I can see the whole city.
"Thanks Javier”she called out to me.
I didn't answer back, didn't want want to seem too happy. I sat down on my seat as I opened my laptop and some documents I asked the former manager to send to me.
If I needed to be in charge here, I also need to know everything that's been going on.
Megan left the office and went out to Regina's spot outside the table to probably ask questions and learn more, she even left with a note to jot down things, I laughed at her willingness to learn.
Mean while I called for a meeting with the 'Albert Stein' Dad wanted me to impress him and impress him I will.
"Hey pre__ Mr Altamira, where you off to?”Megan asked as I came out of the office.
I hid a smile, pretty boy, Mr Altamira, it felt like we were trying to hide a secret relationship, "umm I have a lunch date"
"Oh! OK”she said looking back at her note, "Can I come along?"
"Umm__I don't know, it supposed to be just us”I said, I playing with her and she was falling for it.
"OK no problem, am still learning anyway”she said scribbling something down.
"Yea learn well, bye”I said smiling as I buttoned my suit and walked away.
Someone's falling for Javier, someone's falling for Javier, someone is falling for Javieeeer.
I sang to myself as I entered the car and drove myself to the Chinese restaurant where I was going to meet Mr Stein.
"Hello Mr Stein”I said as I met him already seated on a table waiting for me, he had grey hair blended with black, he was tall like my dad considering their age, but his tummy was a bit larger, my dad's body was fit and young unlike him and he had a mole on his nose, he looked brilliant but suspicious all the same.
"Nice to finally meet you Mr Altamira, I've heard a lot about you”he said shaking my hand firmly.
"My dad I guess”I said as we sat down.
He laughed, "ofcourse, Richard talks about you, you would worship yourself if you heard him speak about you, your mum__ not so much"
Yea that's my dad! Always expecting more from me.
"She's a quite one”I said sipping the sparkling water.
We ordered some Chinese yummies, talked and laughed a lot, though mine was purely fake and made up. We talked politics, business___ Ladies.
"So how's your engagement with the Sullivan's going”he asked.
"Fine, fine”I said.
"You know you guys should get married soon, It’s been 15 years already, am sure she's a grown up lady now”He said again.
"Yea yes, I wonder if we decide to break up”I said innocently.
"Oh boy oh boy, that would be terrible, the press would talk, your family and company would be in jeopardy, gossips, the disaster goes on and on”he said laughing. But I couldn't even muster up a fake laugh or smile.
"Yea It’s not as if I can like someone else and stay together forever with that person right?”I asked, I had this uncomfortable knot in my stomach.
"No no no son, it doesn't work like that, you must be strong, like, love all those come when married, like your mum and Dad”he said.
I nodded, "I better hurry up the wedding plans then, see you later Mr Stein, I think we would love working together"
"I think so too Javier, It’s funny how you and Richard are so alike"
With that I left, I felt really bad, I didn't want to marry Kristen anymore, whether for love, money or fame. I wanted Nicki Minaj. I wanted to get to know Megan more, I wanted to wipe away her tear, protect her and help her in anyway I can. I hated seeing her sad and I loved being around her.
Being with Kristen, means Megan and Samuel, I hate that.
I reached the office on time and I called Megan in to talk.
"Hey”I greeted.
"Hey”she said too.
"Sit”I said.
"Umm__ OK”she said sitting down.
Silence.
I didn't know what to say, her straight hair looked so beautiful.
"So, how was your date?”She asked.
"Fun, Mr Albert Stein was really chatty”I said.
"Mr? Mr Stein?”She asked surprised.
"Yes, he works here, he is one of the major shareholders, he is also my dad's friend, I got to impress him”I explained.
She let out a breath, "I thought, I actually thought you were meeting a girl, like a date date, with a girl"
I smiled, another almost real smile, "why would I do that, when I have a knock out PA, all alone here"
She laughed blushing, "so what did you want to talk to me about?"
"About Samuel”I said
"What about Samuel? Is he hurt? Did something happen? You met him? What did he say?”She rambled out.
Ouch
"Nothing, I didn't met him”I said and I felt a pang in my chest as a disappointed look washed over her face "I just wanted to ask if you are still interested in winning him back?"
"Yes ofcourse, you know I am, why are you asking?”She asked me.
"Nothing, It’s just__ if I was no longer interested in the plan would you still go ahead with it?"
"Yes I would, I love Samuel..."
OK stop talking.
"...and I want him back, he means everything to me Javier"
Silence.
"So you won't give up. No matter what?”I asked for more clarification.
"No”she said with a determined face.
'Not even if I like you' I asked, OK yes I didn't say that out loud, I can't.
Silence.
"Anything else?”She asked.
"No dismissed”I said and watched her walk out.
I spinned my chair, so I'll be facing my giant glass window.
