Chapter 29: Chapter 29
"Seriously? You're a grim reaper?" Finley was shocked as she focused on Keir's face. We were still inside her room, Keir's strength had returned somehow. But Finley's room is too messy, because of the encounter earlier.
There are cracked frames, she says she will take care of cleaning her room.
"Yeah, I couldn't believe it either," I said sitting next to Keir.
"But no one else would have known about it, we'll just look for the other three missing ghosts," I explained to him. It stared at Keir as if examining its face. I was even swallowed up by the memory that I showed him Keir's picture and told him that I already liked it.
"OMG! You?" At once she covered her mouth and looked at me. Astonishment could be seen on Keir's face.
"What am I?" I was still scratching my head when Keir asked this. Ghad! I didn't know that the two of them would meet right away.
"You're Quinn's boyfriend?" I was embarrassed to look at Keir with a wide smile, Finley's mouth still open as he nodded. I even overcame a million volts due to the tremor. I don't know, it's just a smile and a nod but I'm going crazy.
"Wait! But how? Do you have a heart?" We fixed Finley and whispered.
"Okay! You have a lot of questions." I cut off the conversation and stood with Keir.
"How's that? Are you going to introduce them to aunt?" This question again.
"Yes, after all, we're already here. We're going home." I was about to leave when suddenly it spoke.
"Are you going to your house wearing a nightgown? Seriously, Quinn?" After she said it I just looked in the mirror.
"Of course, I'm going to sleep because I have to let go here." I let go holding Keir.
"All right, I'll go out first." He smiled again and quickly kissed my lips, I backed away and stopped for a moment.
"Okay?" Hesitantly Finley said after Keir came out. I quickly approached him and whispered.
"As long as no one else knows what he is, huh?" I heard its sigh.
"What are you doing? Are you losing your mind? Are you really that desperate to have a boyfriend?" It even made me pinch her groin.
"I don't know either, but because...it's just hard to explain." My language is confused.
"What if he was a bad person then?"
"Does that still matter? He doesn't even remember his old life. Okay, that's how it is." I pulled her to sit on the bed to tell everything. I told her everything that had happened since my fall and Keir and Florence and I had met.
Everything that happened and everything we had to do I said that, I don't care if she was confused or not, the important thing I already told her. After I explained everything to her, she lent me a dress. We have the same body so I didn't have a hard time choosing what to wear.
"Can I come to your house with you?" I looked at Finley while combing.
"It's okay, you take care." I shrugged my promise. After we got ready we went out. Keir remained seated–it was his second time here.
"By the way, do you have any news about Chelsea?" I asked Finley as we walked out.
"No, didn't you leave together?" This question is serious.
"Miracle, aren't you focused on your phone?" I asked with a laugh. It used to be when you talked to him on his cellphonehe's focused and you can't hear anything else but the sound of her nail hitting the screen.
"It's so scary, I'm feeling whoever passes a video to me I'm not going to play it." This answer frowned. Anyway, that's scary again. I was nervous, but that video was really different. The voice you hear from here is a voice of sorrow. It says things you don't want in your life, things you hold on to for so long until you want to go to the paradise he says.
In the back of the car Finley rode. Keir was silent but the smile could not be erased, his beautiful dimple was coming out again. Shet! In its extreme depth, I really fall. It's okay for me to be bored.
"What happens when you finish your mission?" I almost screamed in panic because of Finley's sudden appearance in Keir and me. Her eyes were critical of Keir's.
"You're surprising." I pushed her forehead to return to her seat.
"I can be born again," Keir replied while still on the road looking.
"Does that mean Quinn will be left alone? If you're going to be born again after this mission. It means Quinn, you're a grandmother before the right age for him. Then he still won't remember you. What a pity." I adjusted my seat and turned to Finley. I looked at it badly as its face made you think she did nothing.
"What, Keir? Why didn't you answer?"
"Finley! Will you be quiet or will we take you to the afterlife?" I'm threatening here.
"Why? I just don't want to hurt you again, girl this is a different case compared to Blake," she added. I looked at Keir with a serious face. If I only knew this is what Finley would do, I wouldn't have told him again. I wanted to ask if he was okay but I saw he wasn't. He must have been affected by what my cousin said. Hopefully it will also learn to place what she says. But I also thought, she was right. After that Keir will be born again and I will never remember.
I will be left to carry the memories of the two of us as he has no sign of knowing me. I looked down the road but I could not deny the pain in my heart. We weren't at that point yet, but I was already nervous about what might happen. I'm scared but I'm more afraid to deny how I feel. The situation was wrong but I knew he was the right person for me.
After a long trip we got home. Keir parked outside the gate while Finley and I went out together and there we waited for Keir. I smiled at him and clung to his arm. When the gate opened, Finley was the first to enter, which you thought was their house.
"Aunt, Quinn is here with her boyfriend." She said that you thought was a child complaining. I don't know why my cousin is like this. After we went inside, Keir scolded mom and dad, they weren't in today.
"Sit down first. When you left here he i your boss, now he's your boyfriend." Joked who made Keir and I both laugh. But Finley looked even better than my sister.
"Hope all." Its still teasing. She even avoided me after I threw the pillow at him, it was really strong.
"We'll be together for a while, we still have work. We only passed by, because our work was only here in Manila. "At the same time, I glared at Finley who just stared.
"And I just brought it here. I'll sleep here." Simultaneously smile at it. I know she's a coward so she can't go to the apartment. Denis is in Manila, studying criminology. Auntie is with Jade and is on vacation. Wow, I hope everyone is on vacation always.
"Yeah, Keir, are you here for Quinn's birthday? It's next week," Dad asked while looking at Keir. They are not strict when it comes to dating me. I'm in a legal age, as long as I know what I should and shouldn't do until I'm married.
"Yes, I will never be lost." Smiling answers it. I even saw the smirk on my villainous cousin's face, I could hardly imagine that she liked Keir.
"It's good, so we can get to know you better." I looked at dad as he held out his hand to Keir.
"Please take care of our daughter, please love her." I was speechless at what dad said. Only now have I heard him like this, when he and Blake were always talking he wasn't like this.
"Yes, I will love her even for a few thousand more lives." Mom and I smiled as Keir reached for dad's hand. I don't know but I'm happy, it feels good. It seems like even now they just saw Keir why it seems like the big thing is to entrust you to the person you love. I could feel mmom hugging me.
I don't know what's going on with them, it's like they're implying something to me that I don't understand. It't like I'm looking for some kind of explanation. Dad and Keir talked outside while Mom, Finley and I were in the kitchen cooking. Finley says nothing else if Keir and I aren't just superficially stretched.
It's a good thing mom doesn't notice, because she's busy cooking my favorite porridge. I miss it, it's really different when you're at home, there's always someone cooking for you. Ever since I work on this missing soul hunting I've always been hungry and always on fast-food eating. Looks like I can actually eat a lot right now.
"Quinn, can you come here the day before your birthday?" I looked at mom as she mixed what she was cooking. I even adjusted my seat and laid my hand on the table.
"All right, I'll tell Keir," I replied. I heard the stove turn off and mom came over to where we were sitting, it pulled up a chair. I was even surprised when she stroked my hair and looked at me with tears in his eyes.
"For 23 years, you made me feel like being a mother and taking care of a child. I've always prepared myself for that day to come, but I don't know if I'll be able to feel that a second time." Her tears kept falling, but I kept looking for an answer to a kind of question I didn't know. What's going on?
"Auntie, you're so serious. Quinn isn't getting married yet." My mom let go of me after Finley said this, she laughed softly as she wiped away her tears. The two of them stood while I did, still dumb founded and confused. Why are there so many questions in my brain? What is really going on? What things know they I do not know yet?
Time passed quickly, dad and Keir were back and the food was served as well.
"Eat this,' Keir said as he put the food on my plate, after which it was his turn. I even looked at his face while still with a wide smile, would he eat even if he didn't know the taste of it? I adjusted my seat and looked at Finley while staring at what Keir was doing. It just shook while eating, I just ignored her.
Because I really miss mom's cooking and my favorite is the pork porridge, I really eat everything. I also saw Keir eating and waiting to know the taste of it.
"How's my cooking? Did you like it?" Mom asked.
"Yes, sweet." Finley and I almost choked after Keir said this. I immediately drank some water and held her arm, I was about to speak when mama suddenly spoke.
"Sweet? But the dish is porridge." Mama asked in surprise.
"I mean." Keir looked at me and couldn't paint my face.
"I mean, your smile was sweet when you cooked it so delicious." I breathed a sigh of relief after he said this.
"Great!" Finley laughed and went back to eating. Even when I'm back to eating, it's good to be really quick to think. We finished eating and Finley and I were both left in the kitchen to clean up. She complained at first because she was also a guest, but she did nothing. They were in the living room, mom with Keir, I don't know what they talked about but I know Keir thinks fast, so I'm confident. Dad seems to like this habit as well.
"You're really crazy! What if they find Keir when the mission is over?" He whispered to me while rinsing the plates, I am the soap maker and she will rinse.
"Why are you so bitter with me? Aren't you glad I'm happy?" I ask here.
"Of course I want you to be happy but not like this, because eventually you'll just get hurt and that's what I don't want." There was a hint of concern in her voice.
"Thank you, but I want to gamble, I can't hide how I feel for him. Even though I know in the end I will be hurt," I replied and stopped soaping. I knew it was wrong at first, but how could I stop it? Every time I run, my feelings catch up and in the end I just lose. I know no one can understand it, even myself can't understand it but that's how it is, isn't it?
Sometimes you can't understand how you feel. It's like a kind of answer that doesn't have the right question. Our stay here was over and we had to leave, we still had to find three souls.
"Mom, I'd like to stay longer but we have to leave." I say goodbye and hug the two of them.
"Be careful. The day before your birthday, you two should go." Dad's words were sad after I lost the hug.
"Finley, let's talk later." It just waved as we finally got into Keir's car.
"Bye." Say goodbye to mom and wave. We smiled leaving but there was a lack of emotion in me. It was as if something was left of them and I seemed to feel the lack of myself. I feel sad. In the midst of Keir's drama and peaceful driving and suddenly someone called me. I was even surprised by how serious I was. This is an unknown number but I answered.
"It's Blake." Its origin. I even looked at Keir who looked at me even more.
"Yeah, why were you summoned?" I have a few questions.
"Can we meet?" This question again.
"Sor–"
"You know La Berta Miranda wedding gown boutique?" He cuts to what I have to say.
"Nope, why?" I looked at Keir again with astonishment at the person I was talking to. He didn't even know it was Blake, maybe later he would frown again.
"I heard some news, one of their mannequins has something. It looks like it has a soul? They once said it follows the gaze of the shoppers there." I sat up after hearing it.
"Where is this place?"
"Here in Lipa Batangas, I'll be waiting for you here. Bye!" After he said this I was the first to turn off the phone. I adjusted my seat and faced Keir.
"Who are you talking to?" Question it.
"It's Blake." After I said this I saw him tighten his grip on the steering wheel. That said, he was really mad at Blake.
"He gave me a clue, La Berta Miranda boutique in Lipa Batangas. Can we go?" I asked him and held it in my arm. Even though he wasn't speaking I knew there was a thrill just holding it on the steering wheel.
"But you're with me, don't worry there's nothing else. You know we'll see something, don't you?" I convinced him. This is the difficulty for the jowa, but it is also true for him.
"I'll come but I won't show up." Its a straightforward answer. I just swallowed and nodded, I even looked in the side mirror. I would have liked to fix my hair, but it might think I was fixing it for Blake. Maybe he was really jealous when he was still alive.
