How is it that he still trusts me?

It's weird how I just confessed to being paid to kill his mom but yet he's still trusts me?

I need to make this work, I have to.

After securing a nice parking spot at my undercover agency, I took a deep breath before I walked into the store.

"Good day Riona!" He greeted from behind the counter before looking into his computer. "You're not supposed to be here today until you complete your work?" He questioned.

" I need to speak to the boss and it's important, tell him I'm going in." I informed him.

"Kay then."

I pushed through the doors leading up to the boss' office before knocking on his door.

"Come on in Davis!" His voice so high pitched and sounded rough.

Seems like he's in a bad mood today, if he is then even better because Keith might end up dying.

I breathe a sigh of relief as the thought of someone killing off Keith.

"What's going on Davis? She's still alive and kicking so why did you come here?" He thundered.

He's gonna be so shocked after everything I tell him today!

" I came here with good reason boss." I replied him but he wore a confused expression.

" Sit." He ordered then I took the seat opposite him.

"It's the last operation boss, Keith is the one behind the last request! He wants me to kill off Leonardo's mom so he can accuse me of the murder."

"Accuse?" He cleared his throat. "I mean technically you are killing him." He voiced out.

"Sir, I'm saying that there is a conspiracy against me! He's the son of someone I have killed before! He's trying to screw me over! All this is a part of a scheme. We can't do this! We're going to get expo-"

"Enough!" He slammed his hand on the desk out of anger causing me to move back. "You know how this works, you don't get your personal life mixed with work and all this you mentioned sounds like a personal problem, we've gotten paid for it so do it." He frowned.

" Bu-"

" That's enough! The full amount has been paid to me already and the only reason you haven't received your payment is because you haven't completed your job." He explained.

" I-I can't do this job sir, I can refund the money you gav-"

" I think I'm giving you too much freedom," he shook his head. " I'm not asking you for a favor but it's an order, you have to kill her or you know what will happen to those you care about." He further threatened.

" Not my family." I weakly said.

" A life for a life."

I got up from the chair weakly as I processed everything he just said.

"Don't think about doing anything funny because I know you've been meeting and having conversations with her son, you know I will not hesitate to kill you both off and get a replacement for you."

" By a replacement, you don't mean-"

" I definitely mean your younger sister Thalia."

" No..." I raised my voice. " You know I stayed in this place to avoid a repeat of what happened to me!" I argued.

" You can't make decisions for me and if your sister is anything like you I know she'll take on the responsibility if she found out she holds the life of her sisters."

I decided to take the responsibility of my sisters, I can't let Thalia go through what I went through.

"I'll be on my way now."

"There's only two days left, make use of your time wisely." He advised.

As I reached for the doorknob his deep voice filled the room, "I heard your mom returned, time for a family reunion don't you think?"

I ignored him and walked to my car and suddenly everything started coming back to me. The reason I was forced to join this agency and the lives of the people I've killed but not anymore.

I will definitely save Leonardo's mom.

I took out my phone and dialed Leonardo's number.

"Hello?" He murmured into the phone with a rapsy voice.

Was he already asleep?

"Did I wake you? I'm sorry, let's just talk tomorrow then." I stammered.

Why did my heart beat so fast hearing his voice?

"Calm down, I was asleep but I'm up now so tell me."

" Well it may seem as though all our lives are in danger now."

" What do you mean?"

" He threatened not only your mom and my siblings but well ours as well."

" How can you be so calm knowing that? Aren't you scared? I suggest we report to the police."

" Chill." I whispered over the phone and he went quiet. " I'll come up with a plan so let's just talk tomorrow at school." I concluded.

When I returned home it was already quite late and I didn't expect anyone to be up so it was weird when I met Thalia sitting on top of the island in the kitchen.

"Hey kiddo, how come you're still up?" I ruffled her hair.

" I couldn't sleep, I'm really feeling worried." She sighed.

" What's up?"

" Maybe it's because of mom's sudden arrival and dad's condition, I just feel really weird." She looked at me concerned.

" It's alright, dad is going to get operated on tomorrow and everything is going to work out well and as for that woman, I'll make sure she doesn't bother us."

Thalia's eyes sparked hope at the mention of dad's operation. " How did you get the money? Did you take another job?" She frowned.

" No, a good friend helped me." I told her.

" Good friend?" She turned her head. " That's something I never thought I'd hear you say."

" Yeah well not everyone's bad." I smiled.

" Also don't you think we should at least hear mom out? I mean if everything goes we with Dad tomorrow it would be nice to have a complete family again." She commented.

" That woman you call mom tried to kill us and herself! That woman is the reason I was picked and trained into a hired killer! Why did she get involved with such dangerous people?"

" Exactly! We don't know why she tried to kill us or why she got involved with them, let's just hear her out once okay?"

" I'm off to bed."

Why is Thalia getting so curious about mom's actions now? Did she pay her a visit too? But could there have been a reason why she acted the way she did?

"No, no, no." I shook my head. She only did those things because she doesn't love us, I'm protecting them by keeping them away from her.

After school was over I texted Thalia to go home without me because I needed to wait to talk to Leonardo.

She replied almost immediately, "Okay then, I'm picking up the girls and dropping them off at the neighbors place so I can go to the hospital.

Me: Alright then.

I shoved my phone in my back pocket and waited for Leonardo close to the Janitor's closet.

After waiting for about five minutes I heard footsteps approaching and from a distance I saw Leonardo's figure jog towards me.

"I'm sorry I'm late, Keith wouldn't stop hovering around me." He apologized.

" You didn't seem suspicious to him right?" I asked.

" No, I told him I wanted to talk to Mr Joe so he left."

" I see."

" So tell me what's the plan?"
