Chapter 67: Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Sansa's pov
Bella began to laugh aloud when her laugh echoed throughout the corridor. After standing up, she smiled and turned to face me.
"Have you ever shed joyful tears?" Bella inquired excitedly.
I was speechless by her sudden change in behavior, and when she walked over to me with no sadness but only happiness on her face, I shook my head no.
"I was always curious about how someone would feel when crying in happiness. It feels good to know today." Bella was smiling.
"Isn't that too much? Even if you despise your husband, you should at least wait until his funeral is over," I said.
"What do you think you know? Nothing!" She became enraged, and I was afraid of provoking her when I didn't mean to hurt her.
"I was not his wife, but a toy that he played with every day and night, breaking me, hurting me, and doing everything that could harm me. I was not Beta's wife, but a selfless puppet to do whatever he asked. I spent every waking moment as a prisoner." Bella was enraged.
I remained silent because I could feel her anguish. She could face a variety of situations that I am not aware of. It was my mistake to rub salt in her wounds.
"I tried many times to end my life to escape this hell, but I was not allowed to die; he also ruled over my breath. When he was my owner, I was his property." Bella's eyes were on the verge of tears.
She unzipped her gown and turned away, revealing scars from the knife on her back. By simply watching, I was rendered speechless.
"Those scars are the result of the word No, and the Yes word had the power to save me from a harsh punishment for rebellion. But in the end, I was the one who was ruined" Bella's voice was hoarse.
"I begged for their assistance, but no one came to my aid despite knowing what I was going through. They are all heartless." Her deep, painful voice revealed how much pain she was carrying inside her, and being an outcast was also something I had experienced.
"Being cautious is compared to being a sinner and rebelling here when everyone else is righteous," she said sarcastically.
She put on her gown again and returned her gaze to mine. "No, this is not too much; the time I spent here was too much," she said. Bella then exited.
I wanted to apologize; I didn't mean to offend her. I was no longer pure because I had taken the risk of killing Xavier; I was no longer the innocent person I had been when I first arrived here.
The Oak Pack's funeral was taking place, and they were all dressed in white funeral gowns.
I joined the pack; Edward was pushing Xavier's wheelchair, and there was a green wall full of flowers hanging in the mansion's backyard; no one could tell that there was a gate hidden behind the wall.
When the pack's Omegas, Jerry, Martin, Hamza, Eric, Leo, and Frank, pushed the wall to the left, a huge white gate revealed itself, which had been hidden behind the wall.
They entered through the white gate, finding a graveyard filled with various green and multi-colored flowers. The smell was distinct due to the variety of flowers present. I kept an eye on the nameplates on the graves. Beautiful butterflies sat on it, and some of them flew away.
I was watching the process of burying the dead when I noticed Xavier staring over two graves that were separated from other graves covered in white roses.
A few of the mountain elder ladies were playing the drums and crying out the death song in a strange language. Everyone's eyes were welling up with tears.
Maya began speaking in a strange language after circling for a few minutes. She came to a halt while throwing sand on the coffins one by one. Everyone was following the same steps. That took 30 minutes to finish.
I realized I hadn't been hearing Vera's whispers since I joined the crowd. Every 5 minutes, I felt strange, as if something was approaching, a danger. My gaze shifted to Xavier, who continued to avoid me as if I didn't exist, and I did the same.
Finally, all brides were strewing sand on their husbands' graves.
"What happened to Bella? She must put an end to the tradition by strewing sand on Kevin's grave, "Fariya stated.
"Bring Bella," Maya ordered.
"She knew every time, but she refused to come," Xavier explained.
"How could she? She always does that to annoy everyone; she plays tricks, and we must—-" Maya was furious, but Xavier cut her off.
"We should respect a funeral, Maya," Xavier said to Maya, who was ready to fight.
after burying all of the bodies.
Xavier stood up with Adam and Edward's help when he wasn't feeling well and was in a lot of pain.
"I'm fine," Xavier said when Edward didn't let go of his arm and continued to help him stand.
To end the funeral ceremony, Xavier threw sand on each grave.
Heavy-heartedly, Ruth began to sing in a different language, and gradually everyone else joined her; I was the only one who had no idea what they were singing together. I tried to lip-sync with the crowd in an attempt to blend in.
After they finished singing, they all lowered their heads, and I mimicked their action by looking around with my lower head to see what their next move would be. There was a moment of silence to remember those who died.
When Xavier began speaking, they all raised their heads. "We gathered here to say our final goodbyes to our loved ones; five of our family members were killed by the enemy."
When his voice faded to me, I lost focus and became lost in my thoughts, wondering why my father and grandfather kept me away from any pack and never guided me about my true identity.
