Chapter 21: Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Xavier's Pov

They trusted me and agreed with every decision I made because they knew I would protect them and make every decision in their favor.

I also gave them the freedom to speak their minds, which was not only a dictatorship but also a democracy. I knew equality could be harmful at times, but they had the right under their alpha to discuss the situation and offer suggestions for better solutions.

Edward appeared concerned about me. "What if it's a trap?"

We were both standing outside the dungeon when no one else was around.

I told Edward. "You are correct, which is why I am leaving you here to protect Sansa."

Edward looked disappointed and remained silent for a moment.

I said, "And keep everyone out of the dungeon."

"You think I am an emotional freak; I can ruin things. That's why you are not taking me with you, are you? Do you think I'm a wimp?" Edward was attempting to keep his emotions under control.

"Saving Levine isn't the most difficult task; if I find him, I'll save him, but I'm only trusting you with my bride; do you think I'd trust any random guy from the pack to protect her?" I made him see his value in my eyes.

My few lines made him realize how important he was in my life. The best thing about Edward was that he understood and trusted me more than anyone else. He was the Oak Pack's most trustworthy beta.

He was emotionally weak but possessed enough strength to keep anyone on their knees. Nobody could stand up to his power in many battles.

Edward assured me, "I'll keep your bride and the prisoner safe."

"Please notify me if anything happens here."

Edward advised, "Try to come soon; the thing would be out of control without you."

I declared, "It's time."

We both walked into the dungeon after Edward unlocked the door. Without wasting a second, he entered Marina's prison and placed the silver special handcuffs around Marina's wrist, which were specially designed for a creature like her. Marina looked around in disbelief.

"What's going on?" she inquired out of curiosity.

I informed her, "You're coming with us."

"Where?" she appeared to be upset.

"To meet Levine."

Hearing my few lines made her feel insecure and afraid; her body was stiff and unable to move outside the dungeon.

"I can't go," she said, her voice shaking with fear.

Edward made fun of her, "Why? Will you be proven wrong?"

Marina shoved Edward aside and dashed outside the cell to find me. She appeared to be upset.

"I gave you enough information; kill me if you don't find Levine there," her eyes were wide with fear, and her voice was breaking at that moment.

I could see restlessness throughout her body, and her eyes begged me not to leave the dungeon.

Edward laughed, relishing her helplessness, "Why are you overreacting? Consider yourself on a honeymoon with the man you begged to love you back."

"Please, Xavier, I cannot enter their territory," terrified Marina appeared.

"You'll have plenty of time to seduce him; this is your best chance, aren't you happy?" with a grin on his face, Edward teased Marina.

"I swear on my life that Levine's location is correct," begged Marina.

"Are you afraid to travel alone?" Felix's voice could be heard from the other cell.

I moved closer to the bars, and Felix was doing a handstand in the middle of the prison. He rose to face me.

Felix teased as he mocked us, "Taking her with you will prove that you are afraid of the trap you thought she set for you."

Edward grinned at Marina, happy to have gotten his little revenge, "Why are you so afraid to enter Night Walker's territory? What have you done to them?"

Felix teased, "We don't sneak out uninvited on other people's land like Levine."

Edward raised the possibility that Felix was concealing something. "Now that you're talking, you must know why Levine is there."

Felix teased Edward, "Beg me if you want to know, just like Tina did before I ripped her head from her lovely body."

"You filthy Basta**" Edward took a few steps to go inside Felix's cell.

"Edward!" I called his name to make him forget about Felix's game which

he was playing to grab his attention.

On my word, Edward came to a halt, clutching his wrist in rage and struggling to control his inner wolf, which was thirsty for Felix's blood.

I said to Edward as Marina stood motionless but was being dragged by him against her will. "Take her out,"

I looked Felix in the eyes and recognized the game he was trying to play: he wanted to divert our attention away from Marina.

I teased him as I exited the dark dungeon, leaving him miserable. "Practice pleading with me for your life until I return."

While the rest of the pack members waited for me, Edward was loading Marina into the private jet.

I went into my room to say goodbye to Sansa. Sansa turned to face me on the balcony when she heard my footsteps. As soon as she turned to face me, she turned away for another second to avoid me.

"You've come to sleep early," she teased.

"How long will you avoid your husband?" I liked to tease her with a grin, which she despised.

Sansa gave me a sharp, silent look that was more than an argument or a threat to my life. She started to walk away, but I stopped her.

"Let me look at you," smiling when I said.

"What exactly do you want?" She was not enjoying the game I was playing with her; her energy was depleted, and I could see the sadness on her face. Did she miss Logan?

I teased her once more, "You're all I want."

"What a cringe!" she rolled her eyes as she led her to the bed.

She was unusually serene, like the calm before the storm or the clouds before the rain. She was behaving like my wife; she was enraged without hesitation or concern that I might harm her.

I had no idea what she was thinking about me, but I noticed she wasn't afraid of my presence. Was that a good omen or the start of a new relationship?

My thoughts were entangled, and my focus shifted when she motioned for me to sit on the chair in front of her while she sat on the bed. Nobody dared order me around, but she was the one I was paying attention to.

As she instructed, I sat in the chair. I didn't want to disturb her while she was lost in her thoughts and looking lovely.

"Thank you," she said softly, her gaze fixed on mine.

Hearing those impossible words come from her mouth astounded me. I pretended to be calm while my heart was racing on the inside.

"You protected me many times, but because I was fighting with you all the time without realizing it, I never got the chance to say thank you." She avoided making eye contact with me.

Her eyes were lower when she couldn't bring herself to look at my face; her shyness was mixed with guilt.

I said, "Look at me," but she didn't make eye contact, which made me even more nervous.

Was she willing to accept her fate? Was she no longer afraid of me? Was she calm because she assumed I wouldn't force her to marry me after I rescued her from the ritual?

I grabbed her chin and drew her gaze to me. "Take a look at me."

The magic happened when she raised her heavy lashes. My heartbeat became more rapid. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth, and it was difficult to keep myself away from her at a time when I desired her the most.

I removed my hand from her chin and began to avoid eye contact with her, I stood up before losing myself.

"I'm leaving for a few days; let Edward know if you need anything; he'll look after you until I return."

"Where you're going?" On my departure, she appeared concerned and uneasy.

Was she having the same strange feelings about me as I was experiencing for her? Was she beginning to consider me? I just had some random questions in mind when I couldn't figure out her unusual behavior.

I said, "On a business trip, but I'll be back soon."

I wanted to meet Sansa before I left, but the few minutes I spent with her made me want to stay even longer.

I was diving into her ocean eyes the more I looked into them.

I never stood back when it came to my family; leaving Sansa alone was upsetting, but Levine was also a priority; he was in danger and needed me.

I said as I exited the room, leaving her alone. "Take care."

forced me to leave the mansion when I was already missing her within a second. I was not aware of the feeling of being with someone; I felt the feeling of separation when I had never become attached to her.

That strange feeling was taking over me, and I couldn't find any answers to the anxiety I was feeling inside as I moved away from Sansa. I wanted to return even before I had left the mansion.

I'd never felt such conflicted emotions before, but Sansa was the reason I knew for certain.

I had no idea how I had become someone who would risk everything to protect Sansa.

Father was right "You will never understand how you became a person who would give up everything to protect the one he loves."
