Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Xavier's Pov

Believers, I had so many believers when I didn't believe in myself. They chose me as their Alpha after my father. I was perplexed. What did they see in me? What had I done to merit my father's position in the pack after him?

I was the son of Garrison Ronan, which was enough for them to accept me as their Alpha. I reminded them of my father, they said, but when I never acted like him, they already knew my qualities, my bravery, and my passion to protect the Oak pack and carry on its thousands-year-old traditions.

The Oak pack was well-known for its rules and traditions; we never followed outside rules, but our ancestors devised their own, which were followed from generation to generation and passed down to us as an inheritance.

The priority was to carry on the Oak pack's traditions; no matter how you live, feel, or do, you must follow the rules. They believed the rules were put in place to protect the members and help them live a better life, but some of the traditions that all members were required to follow were not good.

The most difficult was "The Pronouncement of Wonder" which was beneficial to members of the Oak pack but not always to outsiders.

You claimed the outsider as a bet or in exchange for a service, and whether the outsider liked it or not, he or she had no choice but to accept fate.

The Oak pack could accept the Outsider but not the human because we had a bad history with them. Humans, more than Vampires or any other creature, posed a threat to my kind; they were monsters with innocent faces.

A group of hunters brutally murdered our families because they were afraid that our kind would harm their race. They sinned because they were afraid. My kind, on the other hand, had to pay the price for their fear.

Sincerity is a weakness that can make you weak until the fear of protecting your loved one takes over and you prepare to face that fear against your enemy. If used wisely, fear is the most powerful weapon.

The fear of losing Sansa was making me stronger by the second, and I was considering every option to protect her from the Oak pack. Standing in the middle of the hall with my people when they needed an answer from me and I seemed to be at a loss for words at the time.

"Please let me finish her; I've been waiting for that moment my entire life," an appeal filed by Fariya.

Fariya's short dark green hair matched her small brain; she was emotional and made all the decisions without thinking. She squandered many good reasons and opportunities as a result of her dramatic personality.

They were all expecting me to give them the answer of their choice because, as an Alpha, I had to follow the rules. I was not expecting Edward to tell them about Sansa's half-human blood so soon because he never conveyed anything without first discussing it with me.

"Get rid of her before the other battle begins," thirsty for Sansa's blood, Ruth raged

I was clutching my fist tightly as they wanted to kill Sansa at any cost, oblivious to the fact that she was my bride. I wanted to beat them all up.

"Please stop it!! Every one of you," I yelled as they rushed to take action in the next second.

They had already decided that I would not do anything because of the dead silence in the hall. They had lost faith in me.

"Do you love her?" Bella's teasing tone planted the seed of my revolt in their minds before I even began to explain.

They were insecure. Their gaze was fixed on me, and every second they fought the battle of curiosity to find out what I was thinking.

Fariya was in tears, "Xavier You cannot betray us in this manner! You can't love her, and you can't accept our adversary."

"Do you remember what they did to our families? They murdered our families and loved ones," stated Amara.

"Before Anthony comes here, you must consider getting rid of her; this is our opportunity," said Adam.

"Anthony?" I was still not sure what the point was.

"Anthony should feel the same pain that we did for our members; this is the best opportunity to kill Marina to exact revenge on Anthony; he loves his daughter, and he will be here to save her as soon as he learns of the news," stated Amara.

They were all discussing Marina, not Sansa. I realized it. In a split second, my boiling blood returned to normal. My heartbeat was steady, and my mind had chilled.

"Don't worry," words they were eager to hear from their alpha.

Amara asked as everyone else was intrigued, "What were they doing in our territory?"

I wanted to ask the vampires the same question.

"Do I need an excuse to visit home?" calm Felix said.

Felix was heavily chained in the dungeon, sitting in a meditation position and pretending to be the calmest person on the planet. The lanterns were lit to provide enough light for us to face each other in the darkness.

"You destroyed the home," cruelly Edward said.

"We're allowing you to stay in our territory, but that doesn't make you the owner of the land," Felix walked over to the bars, calm as before the storm clouds gathered.

"We owned our land, not begged for it; we squandered our blood to build, earn, and live; you thieves want to own everything we have," angrily Edward said, tapping on the bars.

Felix's words were poison to Edward's ears as he struggled to maintain control. "We don't shake hands to steal everything from our companions like you."

When Edward was about to enter the dungeon to kill Felix, I put a hand on his shoulder to move him away.

"I won't ask why you're here; you wouldn't tell me anyway, but I can assure you that if you stay too long, you won't be able to see the world again. I believe you already knew that," the terror I saw in Felix's eyes.

"Do you want another war to break out?" Marina's soft voice could be heard from the other prison next to Felix's.

As I turned to walk over to her prison, Edward stood in my way, attempting to prevent me from reaching her. I walked over to Marina, who was standing behind the bars.

"You have changed," said Marina softly, with her intoxicated eyes fixed on me

I didn't say anything or show her any emotion when she was expecting a lot from me.

"A bride of an Alpha is not worth it! Will you be able to protect that human bit**, wolf?" Marina was attempting to provoke me by threatening me.

"How are you, Marina?"

She was taken aback by my question. My words made her feel something. She was the daughter of an Alpha. The most obstinate and frail. She made poor decisions, but the worst decision she ever made was to love me.

"Why do you care?" she inquired when she would be able to control her emotions.

"Was that a difficult question?" I was conversing with her.

"I'd like to speak with you," serious Marina said after a brief pause.

"Listening."

"Alone," Marina felt uneasy around Edward, who had his gaze fixed on her since he arrived.

I turned to Edward, and before I said anything, he understood what I meant.

"Don't believe anything she says," Edward warned before leaving us alone.

We were both quiet, the awkward silence, and I was ready to hear her, but she was staring at me like a diamond expert.

"Are you happy?" Marina inquired with her heart broken.

"Is that why you come here?"

"Did I ask the most difficult question?" inquired Marina.

"What exactly are you doing here?" I inquired.

"Did you think about me?" I could see right through Marina's eyes the old passionate love that she was crazy about.

"I must leave if you don't have anything to say," I didn't want to continue the conversation with her.

Marina looked heartbroken and took a moment to gather her thoughts as I walked away from her.

"I know where Levine is," said Marina, as I returned my attention to her.

The news she gave me was priceless, the most important one, but was she telling the truth or twisting her words to set me up?

"I found him, and I know where he is," Marina was persuading me to believe her.

I didn't say anything and instead concentrated on her face to study her tricks.

"Do you not believe me? I know where he is in Demacia's south, so trust me."

"What do you expect in exchange?"

"My freedom, You will let me go unharmed," Marina was negotiating with me.

"You got stuck here to get your freedom?"

I was trying to figure out what trick she was playing because I knew that wasn't the only reason for her visit.

Marina confessed, as she always did. "I came here to kill your bride; you belong to me, not her."

She was hoping for a favorable response from me. I didn't say anything back to her and walked away, just as I hadn't turned to look back at her when she told me she was the daughter of a monster who had killed my people.

I emerged from the dungeon into the daylight, where an enraged Edward awaited me.

"Did she explain why they were there?" Edward was curious about their next move.

"By killing Sansa, she thinks I'll accept her."

Edward expressed disappointment. "They would not understand their position."

I considered protecting Sansa from Marina, who was thirsty for Sansa's blood and my love.

"What are we going to do now? They are aware of Sansa's human blood," slowly Edward inquired.

"At any cost, don't let anyone near the dungeon," I directed Edward to Sansa's safety.

We were both walking into the mansion's garden, which was deserted.

"I didn't understand how we couldn't recognize Sansa as a half-human, her scent isn't human, what's covering her human scent?" Edward was intrigued by the scent.

I also had no answer when the same battle of curiosity I had been fighting since I met her,

Her human scent was covered, and nobody could tell if she had human blood in her. That was the mystery I was attempting to solve.
