Chapter 28: Chapter 28

The drive back to my home left me wondering if I was getting in deep with Diego. I knew he had opened something in me that left me wanting more of it. It was beginning to make me feel more insatiable than ever. Fear was beginning to dwell inside me in case it started to change the way I was beginning to feel for him. Right now all I asked from him was to sedate me, I could live with that. I arrived at my apartment to find four beautiful girls waiting at my doorstep and by the looks, they were ready to make camp in my home. Melba had just opened the door when I finally reached the upstairs landing. “Hell are you guys moving in or what?” “We need to be ready for anything and besides I think we might crash in your home tonight. I want to get drunk.” Patty said. “Unless you have other plans,” Sara said. I just started laughing. The ladies had duffle bags and party city bags. “Ah, this isn’t a kid’s party?” I said looking inside some of the bags. “It’s a party, right so we bought party stuff.” Zulema said. I didn’t want to argue. “Okay, you guys know where everything is”. I was about to go into my bedroom when Patty stopped me. I had forgotten to cover up my bruise from the prying eyes of my friends. “What the hell is this Fio,” She said. “Who did this?” Zulema added all four of my friends now encircling me and holding onto my arm and examining it. “This fucking looks like fingerprints.” Sara said. “Did he fucking do this to you, that guy Diego.” She said. I hadn’t seen Sara so pissed before. I knew I had to stop all the accusations. “Girls, wait hold on. Let me explain. “ I said. “I better not fucking see him at the party” Sara was saying. “Stop!” I shouted. “It wasn’t like that. Patty stand right here.” I ordered her. She hesitated at first but did as I told her. “Now face me. I started to walk forward towards her and she began to walk back in instinct. She felt the tip of the table and almost fell back but not before I grabbed her arm just as Diego had grabbed mine. She grabbed onto my arm to be able to stabilize herself. I looked at my friends who looked confused and bewildered. “He stopped me from falling just as I stopped Patty.” I said. The only difference is that he was strong and he marked me with his fingers. He hated that he hurt me like that. You guys should have seen his face when he saw what he had done to me.” I said. The girls looked at me as if they should believe me. I lifted my hands in defeat because I felt they didn’t. I didn’t want them to get more upset so I kept the cut on my back from them. “Okay, what do we have to do,” I said and lifted my hair to place it in a ponytail. “Hello, what have we here?” Zulema asked. I had forgotten about the hickey. In an instant, I let go of my hair. “Nah! Don’t cover it up.” Patty said. All the while Melba stood behind and smirked. “What you guys haven’t seen a hickey?” I said to all four. “Yeah! But who did this hickey? Didn’t you go out with Roger yesterday.” Melba added. I thought I would get out of the inquisition but I was dead wrong. “Yes, but this wasn’t from him.” I said. “Diego found out I was going out with Roger and he wanted me to wear something that claimed me that’s all.” I said. “Claim you. Does he fucking have a claim on you Fio, I thought you weren’t exclusive.” Melba added. “I thought so too, but he told me the day I had Fred over for dinner.” I said. “Wait! Who the hell is Fred,” both Zulema and Sara said in unison. “My next-door neighbor.” I said. “Is he hot?” Zulema asked. “Yeah, and a lawyer to boot. He saw me the other day and the next thing I knew he was bringing over Rudy’s barbeque. It was good.” I said. “Was he good too.” Sara added. “It wasn’t like that besides I couldn’t find out we were interrupted by Diego.” I said. “What he came that same day!” “Yeah but you don’t want to know the half of it. The next day Diego told him to stay away from me or something like that.” I added. “God! girl.” Patty said. “Wait, hold on, first Diego, then Roger, and now this guy called Fred.” Sara said. “Where did all this come from?” She asked. “I wish I knew. Your guess is as good as mine.” I said to her. “So which one did you pick,” Zulema asked. I didn’t know whether to tell them but I knew they would understand and try to help me with Fred. “Roger was so sweet and gentle but I had to let him know that I was with Diego.” I said. “So it’s Diego,” Sara said weirdly. I didn’t know what to make of it. “Yes, it’s Diego,” I said to her. “How did Roger take it? ”Melba asked. “He honored my decision.” I said. “Is he coming to the party?” Patty asked. “I invited him but he said if it got too hard to see me with Diego he would leave.” I said. “He said that.” Melba said. “Yes, oh and he was a good kisser too.” I said to him. “What!!” All my four friends yelled out. “You kissed him?” Melba asked. “Yes and he was so tender.” I touched my lips. “I don’t know what I would do if I would have met him first.” I said. “Probably it’ll be him holding you in the party instead of Diego.” Patty added. “Maybe.” I said. A doorbell rang and took us back to what was in hand setting up the party. Patty went to open the door. Fio there is a Mr. Martinez at the door.” Right in front of me stood Mr. Martinez. He was young and quite attracted, but looking at him I didn’t care to know any other men. “Hello Mr. Martinez,” I said to him. “Hello Miss Pena. I am here at your request.” He said. “I asked your friend to bring me more lights if she could. I was just there to get them so that I could start decorating for the party.” He said. Before I could ask, Melba, was at the door with the bag from party city. “The things that you’ll need are in here.” She said. “Thank you. Well, will see you tonight Miss Pena.” He said. I nodded and closed the door.

The girls were great. They had shinned me up for tonight’s event. Sara had loaned me a snake-like bracelet to wear around the bruised area. It made me look like Cleopatra, which I kind of liked. I wore one of my best sexiest blouses but the only problem was it exposed the love bite. Patty even tried to remove it by placing a dime in the freezer and then rubbing it on it. I don’t know where she heard it would work but ended getting my skin redder than I wanted it to be. She opted for a concealer instead. I was scared to put on my blouse since it exposed part of my back and I was terrified that my scratch would show, so I went and tried it on in the bathroom to avoid anyone seeing it. I felt some wetness in my back, so I decided to call Melba in to help. While I waited for her to come I used the compact to see my scratch and it looked very red. Melba knocked on the door. “What’s up Fio.” She said. I took out a big bandage from the medicine cabinet and handed it to her. She looked at it. “I need you to help me put this in my back,” I said to her. “Where?” she said and then I turned around. “What the hell happened to you!” She said almost yelling. I quickly went around her and closed the door. “Shh… not so loud.” “Okay, but if I don’t like what I hear I will be louder!” she said. “The following day after the Fred incident, Diego was waiting for me when I got back from your house. He wanted to let me know I belonged to him.” “What? That’s just crazy, Fio no one should claim you like that.” She was mad. “I know, I know but the thing is I like that about Diego, Melba. I don’t know how to explain it to you, but” She interrupted. “No buts Fio, every time you say things to me. I am beginning to not like Diego.” She said. That was not the route I wanted this to go. “Listen, Melba, I don’t want you to hate Diego.” She grabbed me and turned me around. “How do you think seeing this is going to change how I am beginning to feel for him.” She said. I looked at my red, now pulsing pus scratch. “That was my fault.” “How is this your fault.” I looked at Melba and I debated on telling her it just seemed to personnel, but I knew she wouldn’t let it go. I had already seen that look. “Okay, Diego and I started kissing and well we didn’t quite make it up here. We ended up having sex under the stairs. It got heated and when he plastered me to the wall. I got scratched. “And you didn’t say anything to him.” “Melba, I was so turned on the pain didn’t matter.” She looked at me with a dumbfounded look. I guess she couldn’t believe I had said that. She paused for a moment and didn’t expect what she said next. “Is he that good Fio?” She asked. What could I possibly say? So I opted for the truth. “Melba I’ve never had anyone fulfill me as Diego has and I don’t believe I would ever have anyone like him again. And if you must know Diego got upset with me when he found out about the scratch. He was even more upset with himself about marking my arm like that. You should have seen him.” Melba turned me around and started to place the bandage but not before she cleaned the wound and added medicine. “Okay Fio I won’t hate him but I am keeping an eye on him.” She said. “There I don’t think it’ll give you any problems, but you need to go see a doctor and get a tetanus shot.” She said. “That’s exactly what Diego said,” I added.
