Chapter 266: Chapter 266
The sound of the door closing echoed as Eleanor Sterling picked up the phone, only to find that Alaric Faulkner’s call hadn’t been disconnected.
She softly said, "Hello."
Alaric had quietly listened to Eleanor’s conversation with her assistant earlier. The content was rather obscure, and he didn’t quite understand it.
He vaguely guessed it was about medical matters, considering Eleanor was skilled with acupuncture needles, and her expertise in Chinese medicine was something he was aware of.
Just earlier, Alaric received Elijah Hayes’s investigation report on Eleanor’s activities over the past two days, including whom she had met.
Noticing the Hayes Family, he frowned slightly. There were some rumors in Aethelgard about him and Blanche Hayes.
Alaric dismissed it as nonsense, attributing it mostly to Old Master Faulkner’s orchestrations, finding such trivial matters unworthy of concern.
He still remembered that Elder Sawyer seemed to have been ill, bedridden in the hospital for days. Could Chinese medicine be effective in treating such conditions?
This minor doubt was quickly cast aside when he saw Eleanor meet with Blanche Hayes.
In the previous moment, he was happy, thinking Eleanor might be jealous, but the next instant, he learned about a wild man in her room. Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net
His emotions were like a roller coaster ride.
If the wild man was as shameless as he was, would Eleanor not reject him?
The more he thought about it, the darker Alaric’s face became.
On her end, Eleanor said, "If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."
With that, she directly hung up the call.
Alaric looked at the blank phone screen, his expression comparable to it, equally dark and unclear as to who was darker.
Elijah had been waiting nearby for instructions. Seeing the situation, he silently exited the study, believing it wise not to linger.
Earlier, Alaric had sent him a message to investigate Eleanor’s other assistants.
Using his connections, Elijah discovered that besides Micah Moss, there were no other assistants linked to Eleanor. He reported this to Alaric.
The result was an even more oppressive atmosphere in the study.
Elijah bumped into Estelle Sterling at the doorway. Her wide, dark eyes looked at him, "Assistant Hayes, why do you look so worried and scared? Is Uncle Faulkner in?"
"Shh." Elijah pulled Estelle over, "President Faulkner isn’t in a good mood right now. It’s best not to disturb him."
Estelle looked puzzled. Not in a good mood?
Elijah’s eyes shifted as he whispered, "Star, exactly how many assistants does Miss Sterling have? Besides Micah, is there anyone else she’s close to?"
Estelle’s mind raced.
Now that Eleanor was in Aethelgard, naturally Liam Keene would come because of the discord between Elder Sawyer and Brian Zane, Eleanor couldn’t reveal her identity.
Before Eleanor’s identity as Sally was exposed, no one knew her relationship with Liam.
Could Alaric be upset because of Liam?
Estelle lightly coughed, and said, "Sister Eleanor has lots of assistants. She’s very close with every one of them. Why are you asking?"
Elijah clutched his chest, feeling somewhat exasperated.
Particularly Estelle’s terms, ’very close’ and ’good relation’, set his mind ablaze with wild ideas.
Just how close must they be to spend the entire night together in a hotel room!!
Elijah hesitantly asked, "So... does Miss Sterling’s assistant like her?"
Estelle slyly smiled, glancing toward the study, and purposely raised her voice.
"Oh? There are so many of Sister Eleanor’s assistants who like her. Which one are you asking about?"
Elijah’s expression turned terrified. So many!!
Now he felt sympathetic for Alaric Faulkner; with enemies so vast, he was truly pitiable.
The sound of a door clicking open came from the study.
Alaric emerged from behind the door with a grim expression while Estelle grinned cheekily at him, "Uncle Faulkner, are you going out?"
Having stirred things up earlier, she couldn’t believe Alaric could remain composed.
"Yes, you behave at home."
Estelle nodded obediently, waved her hand, "Alright, take care on the road."
Alaric departed hurriedly.
