Chapter 256: Chapter 256
Eleanor Sterling: "..."
She let her guard down. This is Alaric Faulkner’s home, so if anyone’s leaving, it should be her.
But after all this commotion, it’s now almost midnight.
Eleanor really didn’t want to be out on the street, so she sighed, thinking she shouldn’t be so pretentious.
Anyway, in Veridia City, it’s not like they hadn’t shared a roof before.
Forget it, she would endure it for now.
Eleanor chose a room, then took some clothes to freshen up and go to sleep.
Seeing Eleanor compromise, Alaric slowly curled his lips up into a smile.
There were quite a few men around Eleanor, but he was probably the first one so shameless.
At least he was the only one who could get close to her.
The phone rang, and he glanced at it; it was a message from Estelle Sterling.
Estelle: "Uncle Faulkner, remember to execute Plan A, good luck!"
Alaric slowly curled his lips up into a smile.
The bathroom in the small apartment wasn’t connected to the room, and after Eleanor came out from showering, she saw Alaric sitting on the sofa, seemingly waiting for her.
"Eleanor, come over, we need to talk." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ Novᴇl_Fire(.)net
Upon hearing Alaric call her, Eleanor hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she walked over and sat down beside him.
Glancing at their outfits, Eleanor felt a bit embarrassed.
With no kids around and both in household clothes, they seemed like a young couple.
"Ahem, what do you want to say?" Eleanor chuckled awkwardly.
Alaric looked serious, his eyes deep, and said, "You can’t accept me because of Faye Sterling. If I sort out my relationship with her, can you then be with me?"
Eleanor was momentarily stunned, unsure how to respond.
Alaric continued, "Seven years ago, I was set up into having Caleb; it wasn’t something I could choose.
But after meeting you, it’s the first time I’ve wanted so strongly to be with a woman."
Looking at Alaric, Eleanor listened to his words, her heart pounding.
She was unexpectedly flustered, almost turning into a stiff statue.
Why was Alaric suddenly telling her this?
Eleanor spoke, "I...don’t think I’m that captivating."
"Don’t underestimate yourself; you have a charm that drives people crazy," Alaric stared at her intently.
Moonlight poured through the window onto Alaric’s handsome face.
The beauty was alluring, and every word he spoke now seemed to strike hard at Eleanor’s heart.
She thought...if she didn’t force herself to control it, she would surely drown in his gentle confession.
"So, forget everything from the past and be with me, okay?"
Alaric implored gently, his tone exceptionally soft.
When Eleanor heard him mention the past, she suddenly thought of Estelle.
Her pupils shrank, instantly waking her up.
For a moment there, she had actually wanted to agree, yet Estelle might very well be Jasper Faulkner’s child.
If she really got together with Alaric, wouldn’t that go against ethical morals?
It was like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her, chilling her from head to toe. Eleanor looked seriously at Alaric.
"President Faulkner, just because you and Faye Sterling have Caleb, there’s never a possibility for us to be together.
Are you willing to cross moral boundaries to be with me?"
Alaric suddenly leaned in, trapping Eleanor in the corner of the sofa.
He looked down at her, his voice low and dark, "Why not? In life, it’s rare to meet someone who stirs your heart, and you make me want to risk everything."
Faced with Alaric’s strong and sincere confession, Eleanor felt like now, she couldn’t escape the net he had woven around her.
