Chapter 59: Chapter 59

Chapter 59 You Are Not Worthy of My Daughter

When Martin James heard what the man said, his expression immediately changed.

'What does he meant by getting back together with his lady? Wait a minute, did he meant to say, Mr. Julian? Hedy Julian's dad?' Martin suddenly thought of Hedy.

"Are you pertaining with Mr. Miles Julian, Hedy Julian's father? " He quickly looked at the man in the suit.

"It seems that you are still clever. Now that you know, you are invited by our Mr. Julian. What do you mean by that question?" Baffled, the man in the suit had a cold expression while he asked.

Martin couldn't help but shook his head and smiled. He originally thought that Mr. Julian he said is the boss who personally knew the Chairman and came to see him.

It seemed that Hedy's father wanted to meet him. However, he didn't know that he was the Chairman of the Gold Group, or that he was Morgan Gracie's grandson, so he let himself go to see him.

Martin couldn't help but wonder how and why could Hedy's father suddenly got interested to find him.

'Why is he looking for me?' He couldn't help but wonder.

"Fatty, you fight first. I'll go out to meet someone." Martin said as he got up.

"Boss, you are going to escape again." The fat man said in a joking tone.

After leaving the dormitory, the man in the suit took Martin in his car and drove towards the rendezvous point. Time has passed and they arrived at the school's artificial lake.

Standing by the lake was a middle-aged man dressed in a suit and with tall stature. He stood alongside the with his clasped hands as he looked at it quietly. He seemed to be completely lost in a trance and observed at the oblivion with extraordinary style. At a first glance, Martin knew he was a wealthy man based on his demeanor and the air of superiority he radiates.

'He should be Hedy 's father, Miles Julian.' Agreeing with his thought, he strode forward.

"Mr. Julian, the man you're looking for has arrived." The man in the suit and the subordinate of Miles brought Martin closer to his boss. Miles turned his head and glanced at the newly arrived guest. Unbothered, he then continued to look at the lake.

"Martin James, you are the boy who fell in love with my daughter, right?" Miles stared at the artificial lake. He seemed very calm as he initiated to converse. After a short period of silence, he said that as his back turned against Martin.

"Mr. Julian, you have a good source of news. I'm surprised you know it." Shaking his head, Martin gently smiled. He and Hedy Julian are just pretending to be lovers. He wondered how her father could find out so soon.

"My daughter's business is mine as well. I naturally care about it." Miles briefly replied.

"Mr. Julian, I don't know if you can give me any advice." As he said that, Martin appeared neither humble nor overbearing.

"Do you know what is my daughter's background? Do you know how much money is in my family?" Miles Julian asked calmly.

"I know," Martin responded.

"Since you know, then you should be aware that you are not worthy of my daughter. If you two are in a relationship, please leave her." With a firm voice, Miles ordered calmly. While he said these words, he didn't even bother to turn around to look at Martin. This act was enough to show how much he looked down on his daughter's lover.

"Mr. Julian, how did you know that I am not worthy of your daughter?" Martin couldn't help but smile humorlessly.

"I did a background check and I've seen your personal files. You live in a shantytown. Your mother raised you as a single parent, and you came from a poor family. What should I say more?" Miles sneered.

"Mr. Julian, take a look at the artificial lake in front of you. What do you see?" Not minding his derogatory words, Martin smiled calmly as he asked Miles.

"The lake is extremely beautiful " Albeit being clueless, Miles didn't know why  James asked this question. Not knowing his purpose, he still answered. Martin put his hands on his back, then looked at the artificial lake as he said slowly.

" Yes, what you said is right. The lake is beautiful, but it's a pity that this is just on its surface. You don't know the other scenes under the water. The hidden things under the water are still unknown. After all, no one would be interested to wade deeper and explore the entire artificial lake. Just like you, my understanding only stays on the surface."

"You mean, I should let myself spend time with you to understand what you mean? Sorry, no matter how hard I'll try to understand you, you are just a poor boy. No matter how hard I'll try to look for your redeeming factors and try to understand you, Martin, you are not worthy of my daughter!" With unrestraint emotions, Miles shook his head and sneered.

"I don't know what level in the society I should that you're thinking. Must I reach the top to be worthy of your daughter? Isn't there a man named Moore Johnson chasing Hedy? Do you think Moore is worthier than me to be with your daughter?" Martin asked with a knowing smile.

"My total assets are nearly 1 billion. I want my daughter to have a good man to be with her side. At least the total assets of his family would be 2 billion upwards. Moore Johnson is a far cry!" With a mockery in his voice, Miles slowly continued.

"Looking at the entire C City, few young men can go with my daughter. In our whole state, Mr. Chad Baker is a good candidate. His family's assets and influence are superb. He's an excellent match being assigned on my daughter."

"Chad Baker?" With a smile, Martin incredulously asked.

That Chad Baker who was at the resort yesterday, also deemed himself as a grandson of a powerful family. At this time, Miles slowly turned around. He looked at Martin and stared at him intently.

"Although I don't know what method you used to fascinate my daughter Hedy, I know what kind of man you are. You are nothing but just an opportunist who plays my daughter. You want nothing more than money." After Miles said these mocking words, he took out a check-out of his suit. He prepared it in advance, thinking that Martin would accept it.

"This is a check worth one million, enough to take you from a poor boy to a millionaire. Take this money and leave my daughter. You are not worthy of her." He handed the check to the man in the suit next to him. His lackey in the suit got it and handed the check to Martin.

"Is this money?" Martin stared at the handed check. He shook his head and laughed as if he found something amusing.

As the grandson of the richest man, did he think that Martin will be short of money? That's ridiculous. After receiving the check, Martin directly tore the cheque in half. Amid the silence, the tearing sound of the paper echoed in the air that made Miles surprised.

Martin continued to fold it in half, tore it off, and stomped the cheque on the ground.

"You..." Hedy's father saw Martin tore up the check. His face suddenly became gloomy as he can't help but be aghast who in the right mind would waste an opportunity like he had given to be freed from poverty. He assumed and anticipated that anyone who was offered as such would second-guess.

"What? Isn't enough? Do you want more?" Miles' face turned blue. Immediately, he took out a cheque again, wrote another amount, signed it, and then handed it to Martin.

"This is five million, which is the highest amount I can give. I hope you will think carefully this time. Take the money and leave my daughter forever." Without giving it to his assistant, Miles personally handed the cheque to Martin.

This time, Martin didn't answer. He remained silent as he shook his head and smiled.

"Mr. Julian, even if you give me a few billions, I might still do the same. In my eyes, your bribing is worthless."

When the man in the suit next to him heard what Martin said, he immediately fumed in anger.

"Boy, I see you have a death wish! You bastard should not dare disrespect Mr. Julian and refuse what he says!" Miles' loyal right-hand man thundered.

"Levi." With a voice that hinted reprimand, Miles waved to the man in the suit, motioned him to step back. As soon as he did that, Miles looked up at Martin.

It can be seen from Miles Julian's expression that he was also a little angry at this time. Even though he's just an old man who went past his prime, he can control his emotions.

"Boy, if you want to squander more money from me, I can only tell you clearly that five million is the limit of what I can give you. I hope you will accept it this time." After a pause, he continued.

"Martin, I'll give you three days to think about it. After pondering, you can come to me to get the five million at any time. As long as you'll follow our deal, things will be good. After three days have passed, if you are neither willing to take the money, nor leave my daughter, then I can only resort to tough methods." When Miles said the last sentence, his tone suddenly became cold.

"Mr. Julian, I think the next time we meet, you will definitely change your attitude," Martin said with a smile.

Miles glanced at him up and down. He sneered at his words and dismissively glanced at him." Levi, let's go!"

Miles didn't bother about saying his goodbye to Martin. He directly went next to his assistant in a suit and called him to leave. Seeing Miles leaving behind with great arrogance, Martin shook his head and smiled.

'If Miles knew my identity, would he still think that I'm unworthy of his daughter?'

After Miles walked away, his assistant roared in furious.

"Mr. Julian, that kid is incompetent! Miss Hedy has a bright mind, but I don't know how she could like that kind of man." Levi gritted his teeth and said viciously.

"I hope that kid is thinking and sensitive enough. Or else, he can't blame me once I'm rude." Miles said with a sullen face.

"By the way, Mr. Julian, do you want the lady to go with the auction tomorrow? I heard that Mr. Chad Baker is going, too. It would be the perfect time to match the lady Hedy with Mr. Baker." The man in the suit suggested.

"I will tell her." Miles Julian nodded.

After the two men leave, Martin stayed at the artificial lake's edge before he went back to the dormitory. Suddenly, his phone rang. The moment he looked at the caller ID to check it out, he saw that it was a call from his grandfather Morgan. Martin knew that if his grandpa called him personally, there must be something special or an urgent matter to talk about.

"Hello, Grandpa." Martin quickly answered the phone.

"Martin, I'm at your house now. Come back here, I have some good things to give you. I think it should be of great help to you." His grandpa's kind voice sounded on the phone.

"Good thing? What good thing? " Martin was startled.

The status of his Grandpa is top-notch. He is deemed as Dignified California's richest man. Naturally, his vision and standard were high. Since his grandpa called it a good thing, Martin can't imagine what it is. Morgan said he wanted to give it himself. Besides, he told him that the thing he was about to give would be of great help. Martin couldn't help but look forward to what that good thing is.

"You'll know when you come back." His grandpa's laughter came over the phone.

"Okay, I'll be back now!" Martin nodded as his excitement got had to conceal.

After hanging up the phone, Martin hurriedly went back home.
