Chapter 211: Chapter 211

Chapter 211 Hedy Is Leaving

In other case, if Martin had been joking like he had just done, Hedy would have immediately denied it and then rebutted him, but she just didn't.

"Hedy, what's wrong with you? Is something the matter? "Martin asked seriously.

Looking at him from a distance, she said, "I came to you to say my last goodbye." Hedy looked calm.

"Say goodbye to me?" Martin gave her a confused look.

"Hedy, what do you mean say goodbye to me? Where are you going?" He asked.

"I'm going to the capital." She confessed.

"Go... To the capital?"

When he heard the word "capital", he couldn't believe it.

The capital from C City was very far away.

It was located in the north while C City was in the south!

"Hedy, you... You're not kidding, are you? You're living well in here, why go to the capital?" Martin forced a smile.

When he heard the news that Hedy was going to the capital, Martin had his first heartbreak. He's not going to give up!

For him, Hedy was the first he had in his life.

Although she never promised him something, Martin's heart has always regarded her as his own woman, and if she was in danger, Martin would never hesitate to help her.

"I'm going there to pursue my dreams." Hedy answered calmly.

"Pursue your dreams? With your father's career here in C City, no matter what you do, he will be able to provide for and support you. Is not better than to chase after a dream?" Martin said.

When Hedy heard this, she turned to Martin.

"Martin, are you holding me?" A solemn look flickered from Hedy.

Martin mused for a few seconds, then nodded. "Yes, I'm keeping you."

Hedy gently shook her head, then averted her gaze from Martin once again.

"But I've decided. You're right, whatever I do here, my dad can help me." Hedy said. "But I want to go after my dreams. I don't want to be stuck in C City and continue to follow behind my father's shadow forever. I want my life to have its own value."

"Does it mean that I can't stop you from leaving?" Martin has a low voice.

Hedy nodded gently.

It was a gloomy day, then suddenly a thunder clapped. The next moment, heavy rain plummeted.

Wow! The storm that burst in was unusually violent as if the sky had been crying, too.

Martin looked at the rain, took a long breath, and said, "Well, I wouldn't have been qualified to stop you, so I could only wish you a pleasant ride."

Although Martin was hearty, he didn't want Hedy to leave.

But what did Martin have to persuade her not to leave when he was neither Hedy's boyfriend nor her relative?

"Martin, I don't know if we'll ever see each other again or if we'll get a chance to see each other later..." Hedy said, then abruptly stopped talking.

"How about a goodbye?" Martin asked.

"Alright. Now, you remember to be nice to your girlfriend. She's come to me and she's really good."

Hedy said this and finally smiled at him, but it was obviously unnatural.

"Janet came to see you?" Martin looked a little surprised.

"Yes, she persuaded me to be with you, and she said you had me in your heart. She wanted me to come back to you, and that she'll let you go." Hedy said.

"She..." Martin felt complicated.

He didn't expect Janet to do such a thing, but he understood her intentions for doing so.

Hedy looked at the rain and continued, "I was going to leave a week ago, but I thought about it and thought I'd say it to you personally before I leave again. Now that I've seen you, I decided to go."

When her voice dropped, Hedy turned away.

When she turned around, her eyes were red, and from there dropped crystal tears.

Hedy wanted to go to the capital for two reasons.

First, the one she said to Martin.

The second reason was that she wanted to run away from Edwiin, who she knew would definitely come back to C City to find her.

When Edwiin last came to C City, she was really worried that he would kill Martin.

Hedy knew that Martin had a hard time fighting Edwiin in his room.

So, she chose to leave to keep Martin safe.

But she didn't tell him her second reason.

Martin looked at the departing figure of Hedy and his heart suddenly sank.

If Hedy did leave for the capital, he didn't know if he'd see her again.

Martin had the urge to rush up and hold her, not letting her go ever.

But he didn't do it until Hedy's figure disappeared from Martin's sight.

If others were to pursue their dreams, what right did the rest of them have to stop them from doing so?

Hedy really left.

Another thunder struck, and as if it had struck his heart, it gave him a heartache.

"No! It's definitely not our farewell, Hedy. The capital? One day, I will be there!" Martin promised.

In the evening, at Martin's home.

Janet came to his house to spend time with him.

"Did Hedy really go to the capital?" Janet was surprised.

Martin just broke the news to her.

Martin nodded. "Yes. I think she should be out of C City now."

"Martin, it must have been hard for you, but it doesn't matter. I'm by your side." Janet took the initiative to hold him.

Janet knew that Martin had a relationship with Hedy, which would make Martin feel a little out of his mind when Hedy left.

Not long enough, Janet offered to kiss Martin.

It's been a long, cold night.

The next morning, Martin woke up to find that Janet was no longer beside him.

"Honey, you're awake."

Janet walked in with a smile on her face from outside.

"I made breakfast. Get up and eat."

Janet said as she walked towards Martin and kissed him on the lips.

"You're so virtuous." Martin said with a laugh.

"Janet, you've done a great job of cooking." Martin ate praise while praising the food that she prepared.

"Then, eat more." Janet flashed a happy smile.

Just then, a knock at the door rang.

"Who's there?" Martin got up and opened the door.

After the door was opened, what came into view was a young man in casual clothes, a man who was obviously well-off.

"Mick?" Martin recognized the person immediately.

"Martin, aren't you too rude? I'm your cousin." Mick frowned.

Soon, Mick glanced at Martin's house and sneered. "Martin, you didn't live in this broken place all these years, did you?"

"Yes, I live here. What's the problem?" Martin said quietly.

"When your father put the family business aside to elope with your mother, he died on the construction site, and it was stupid! It also made you live such a hard life, slug." Mick said.

"If I'm living a hard life, it's none of your business anymore. If you'll excuse me, I'll close the door. You are not welcome here!" Martin said.

"Hey, I haven't seen you for a few years. Let me put it straight, you and your mother are invited back to attend grandpa's 80th birthday." Mick told him.

"You didn't recognize us to be part of the family for a long time, but now you're telling us to do something?" Martin scoffed.

Mick also gibed. "You think I like to be here? Do you think I'd be here if grandpa hadn't asked me to come?"

"Okay, I see."

When Martin had finished, he slammed the door shut.

Mick was the youngest son of Martin's second uncle.

However, Martin was not impressed with him because he mocked Martin more than once.

After Martin's parents eloped, the James family stopped recognizing his father or even him.

In particular, after his father's death, neither his grandfather nor supposed immediate family never gave him any help.

In high school, because Martin could barely support himself, his mother took him with her to beg Martin's grandfather and uncle, but they didn't give a penny to his mother. Instead, they showed cynicism.

Martin could still remember all those clearly!
