Chapter 93: Chapter 93

After the issue of confrontation was solved Audrey was at the parking lot about to open her car door when her phone rang. She picked it

" Hello,! She said in anticipation waiting for them to speak

" Is this Miss Audrey Zachary? The husky voice asked

" Yes yes. I am here" she said eagerly.

" I'm calling from the forensic department regarding the decayed corpse. " He stopped

" Yes? She urged him to continue

" It's not Patricia Zachary but someone else. Will you like to know who it is?

" Go on," she said entering the car

" It's one Rosalind James. She was a nurse at the city hospital. " He announced as Audrey jot it down

" Thank you. I'll be there by noon tomorrow to claim the body. Thank you" she smiled

" I'm glad to help. Sorry for the delay. " He stated then hung up

Audrey's smile widened at the thought of her mother still alive. Rosalind will be her guide to find her she concluded driving off.

She arrived home and took her PC out to check. She began her research and found the hospital where Rosalind worked and her body was never found. This means she disappeared two years after she was kidnaped, the year her aunt gained access to her money.

It was bad news for her. She has reclaimed the corpse which means she might be pinned as the suspect but how did she die and why did her aunt bury her beside her father and where's her mother? Is she doing well? Maybe she's waiting for her to die after all they were sisters.

The pain of betrayal hit her as she turned the table down shouting to vent her anger. How could she do that to her blood sister? Her mother treated her well, she provided for her even if they had little. Thanks to her Dad who came into their lives she never lacked anything as long as he could afford it. Where did she get her greediness from? Whatever the reasons she was needed in Texas: her Dad's hometown.

Now that she thought of it she could involve the police in it. Or better still Victor will do fine. She sent him a text after all he helped with it.

Ivy got information concerning the forensic report but wasn't told the results. So she knew Audrey will be coming to Texas to confirm the report and that was her cue. She had to find a backup.

At seven the next day Victor was outside Audrey's house in a polo shirt and a jacket. His hair was slightly curled. He looked handsome. He smiled seeing her walking out all dressed up.

"I was hoping we could use my bulletproof car instead. The ship can transport it while we use the plane. ' she suggested

" Then we need a private jet" he smirked as she agreed to call Ava's pilot to get ready

" Done. Sorry I had to bother you. the forensic report is out and it's negative. " She announced as he nodded

" Don't worry you won't be tagged a suspect. I won't let that happen" he grinned opening the front seat door for her

" Thanks. " She appreciated entering the car while he drove off

" Care to share why you went missing at the age of sixteen?

" You're quite a patient man. Well, I fell prey to human trafficking. Got lucky and escaped but much changed on my return" she stated as he looked at her with pity

" I'm so sorry. Forgive my nosiness" he apologized stealing glances at her. Audrey ignored his side looks.

They boarded the private jet to Texas. Victor challenged her to a duel which she was good at. She did corner him to the wall winking at him

" I think you're good with guns while I'm good at both," she said proudly

" Few men have such luxury." He justified as she stayed daze thinking of Luke's strong grip. He's one person she can't wrestle with. She felt good to know he had the power to protect her.

' are you okay? Did I say something wrong? He asked snapping her out of her thoughts

" No. Let's take a break" she stepped back from him taking a bottle of water. Victor felt charmed watching her panting as her chest rose and fell. She wasn't his but that doesn't mean he can't feel his eyes.

Audrey felt his eyes boring holes on her chest, therefore, snapped a finger in his face averting his gaze to her face. Instead of moving away, he stepped closer as she moved backward wondering what he was doing. He moved inches from her caressing her hair staring at her lips swallowing the lump in his throat slowly.

They starred at each other as Victor moved to kiss her. She was disappointed in herself for being tied to Luke. She put her index finger on his lips shaking her head.

" I don't think I'll be able to get over him. I'm sorry" she muttered stepping away from him

" Let me help you get over him then. Give me a chance to heal your broken heart. A chance to occupy that void in your heart. I swear to you I'm nothing like him. I'll love you wholeheartedly" he promised as she sighed

" I can't. I don't think it's nice to lead you on. " She walked away as Victor closed his eyes resting on the metal wall imagining their almost first kiss. He has never been that close to her before.

They arrived in Texas and disembarked. They lodged in a hotel first before heading to their office. As expected the police were involved already as it was reported as a missing case. She was required to explain such a mistake. She looked at them nervously knowing she was in trouble. Letting them arrest her aunt means she won't be able to see her mom again. It was harder than she thought.
