The hotel issues were a major challenge for Audrey cos they had a competitor. Another hotel was built in the area. They reduced their suite bills and resort payments. Even their meals and housekeeping were cheaper. The hotel was an international hotel and their suite bills can't be reduced so Audrey was chewing her pen ransacking her head when Lucas entered the house with a note dropping it in front of her with a loud thud. It startled her as she looked at it.

" What's this? She asked in frustration

" Something that will put you out of your misery. " He said taking a seat

" Really? She asked curiously opening it and flipping the page while glancing through it. She was shocked it was a basic rule in operating a deluxe hotel. She has been looking for it. He jotted down some ideas on how to tackle competitors. She smiled hugging him

" You are a genius. How should I repay you this time? She smirked pouting

" Stop smoking. I bought you a book on how to do that and this too" he said handing her a packet of bubble gum

" Awww. So sweet. You're getting good at this" she commented

" And here I replaced your phone. Didn't you say you lost yours? " He said handling her an iPhone falcon

" Is today Valentine's day? You're giving so much" she joked perceiving his cologne

" No. I'm sorry for making you sore. You limped the whole day" he apologized feeling guilty though it was her fault

" No need. I'm not angry" she said kissing the corner of his mouth.

" Audrey! " He called as she hummed

" How old were you when your parents died? He asked caressing her cheeks

Audrey was surprised to hear him ask about her childhood.

" twelve. Mom went into coma weeks after"

" Who took care of you? You had a guardian right?

" I told you Lola and Ava did. "

" I see. You should hold on to this. In case you need it" he said handing her an ATM card

" Lucas, I'm not a bag of charity cases. Money isn't my problem. Money comes and goes. So therefore it's not my concern. Those who love it can go after it. I don't care " she lamented leaving his hand hanging

" It's for your well-being."

" You want to spend money on me? Kiss me. That's all I want. Sorry to disappoint you. I can't be that posh girl that you craze for" she muttered trying to stop him from interrogating her

" Then tell me what I should do to make you happy Audrey. " He said staring at her lovingly caressing her lower lips

" A Promise Lucas"

" Whatever it is ask "

" Promise you won't hate me nor abandon me no matter what"

" I promise Audrey. Stop weeping inside. Tell me everything" he urged kissing her slightly

" With time I will" she murmured

" Let's tour around LA like a normal couple" she suggested jumping up in ecstasy grabbing some trousers to change into.

" I think you should change " she urged.

Audrey and Lucas wore a couple of white t-shirts and blue Jean trousers with a black hat and Jordans sneakers. Lucas was embarrassed cos people kept staring at them one way or the other. Audrey didn't care as she took photos of them from time to time. Genevieve just stood a mile away watching them.

Audrey dragged Lucas places even to an amusement park where they rode the merry-go-round. She did silly things like riding fake horses and dancing with the clowns.

" You're such a child Audrey. I hope I'm not dating an underage girl" he murmured as Audrey laughed at his attempt to being funny

" I'm glad you're happy," he said licking the ice cream on her lips while they kissed

" You're such a good kisser Luke" she commented giggling

" I love kissing you, Audrey. It's a good thing you admitted it again" he smirked holding her hands swinging it

They strolled around as a gun was fired in their direction luckily Audrey's hat fell and Lucas bent down to pick it. the bullet passed him by hitting the wall. Audrey panicked and dragged him into hiding.

Lucas was certain he was the target this time, not Audrey cos they would have killed her in front of him. He shuddered at the thought. The gunshots continued as people kept shouting and running helter-skelter. Genevieve panicked running into the charade looking for Lucas.

Lucas noticed footsteps heading their way and brought his gun out, cocked it, and beckoned Audrey to change position which she did and they came at them. He shot them kicking their gun off and their colleagues fired at them. Audrey fired back shooting a few and they faced her

Shit .he cursed trying to call their attention towards him .he succeeded in deceiving them. they left Audrey alone going after Lucas who changed his hiding spot killing one at a time. He was checking if there were some left. He sighed returning to Audrey's side she quickly hugged him searching for wounds.

" I'm fine Audrey. " He said holding her tight. They were walking away from the building when it started collapsing. They made a run for it but it was closing too fast. Lucas found a loophole and shot at it.

" That way Audrey. Careful" he said pushing her forward. She was about to enter when she noticed a pillar following down. She pushed him out of way ready to take the hit but he flipped her shielding her from it. It came crashing down on him though he shot at it making it lighter by the time it landed. Audrey rushed to him pushing the dirt off him.

" Luke, hey Luke! Please talk to me, my love. Please don't leave me to. Luke! " She called out to him trembling trying to revive him. Giving CPR continuously sobbing. She kept doing it that she couldn't see based on her teary eyes.

" I'm fine Audrey" he spoke hoarsely wiping her tears

" Luke! Omg! She exclaimed holding him up closer resting her chin on his head

" I thought you left me. I thought you left me" she said repeatedly pecking him

" I told you I'll try and get old for your sake" he whispered

" Where are you hurt? She asked checking for it

" My back. Don't worry. Just hold me, Audrey. Hold me" he urged. She held him trying to raise him a little to see his wound but couldn't. Tears were rushing out of her eyes like the rain.

" I don't know what to do Luke. You're very weak " she announced barely hearable

" I'm fine you'll see. Kiss me, Audrey. It'll soothe it" he suggested as she whimpered and kissed him slowly. He moved a little deepening the kiss caressing her wet cheeks.

' I'm fine, aren't I? I can still kiss you" he joked.

" Tell me something new Audrey. " He requested as she tried moving him to another place

" What do you want to know? She said weeping

" Why are you looking for your dead mother? He asked as she sniffles

" I think my aunt knows where she is. I ran away from home when I was little though they pictured it as an abduction. I ran away. I left my mom in her care and now she said she was dead? I can't believe it. My mom might still be alive" she narrated skipping the long story

" Then you have to take custody for the corpse as her daughter then you can have her grave dug ." He suggested as she smiled he was right why didn't she think of it before

" See. Two heads are better than one" he said coughing. She supported him rubbing his chest

" Ivy jerkins is my aunt. My former guardian. That's my secret, my love. Hold on ok? I wish my bag didn't fall. Do you have your phone? She asked checking his pockets

" I know. Any other thing I need to know? He asked with fulfillment

" Yep. Don't you dare die on me" she weeps as he moved a little for her to see the wound.

She raised his shirt which was stained with dirt.

" There's hope. We've to get out of here" she suggested looking for a loophole.

They heard footsteps again and Luke managed to stand up taking his gun with Audrey's support. They moved to another side to hide while the assailants marched in.

Audrey cocked her gun and began to shoot. The hell she's not ready to die yet. Lucas shot at the remaining debris and they fell on most of them but more men came rushing in. Audrey was confused. This has never happened before. What changed?

Lucas mainly shot at the debris killing more than five at once and soon they reduced to six with barrels.

Audrey was surprised he was that good even when wounded. Her bullets were almost finished just two shots left while Lucas's gun had three shots left.

They calculated the math and decided to leave one for combat. Lucas switched places and shot at his target. Leaving three now.

Audrey wished she was that good at shooting. She calmly shot at them but missed one. It's just two men left now who were shooting everywhere and anything backing each other.

Lucas waited for them to run out of ammo and they did. They were about to change ammo when he attacked them though he was weak. Audrey joined him for fear of losing him.

After minutes of combat, he punched the guy who fell unconscious. Audrey was still fighting with hers taking a few beatings but she wasn't going to lose. Lucas came from behind and pushed him into a pointed rod that pierced his chest to death.

Police siren was heard and they guessed they're here to put things in order. Audrey sighed and held onto Lucas supporting him as another guy rushed in. Audrey lost hope. How on earth will they hold them off.

Lucas was about shooting when a van entered shooting the assailants in no second they were wounded. He needed some for questioning.

They alighted and curtsied to him helping him up apologizing for being late.

He told them to leave with some wounded men and leave him to Audrey.

They obeyed him and left while Audrey helped him out of the wretched building. Genevieve saw them in the dirt and quickly ran to help Lucas.

" Forgive me, Sir, I couldn't get in " she curtsied in tears

" It's okay. Take us to the hospital" he ordered as she quickly opened the car door for him. She helped him into the car while Audrey watched them. She felt bad for Genevieve having a one-sided love. It was obvious cos she was sobbing on seeing him hurt and bruised.

She entered the car and Lucas rested his head on her shoulder.

" Luke!!!" She called his name as Genevieve sped to the hospital beating traffic. Audrey was in tears rubbing his chest.

" Genevieve, please drive faster " she urged. Getting to the hospital She quickly stopped the car to get the nurses who came out with a stretcher carrying him into the ward.

Audrey and Genevieve were told to wait outside. Audrey was sobbing while Genevieve was pacing.

" Why is he like this? Don't tell me you couldn't protect yourself. He's in danger because of you. I wonder what he sees in you" she blamed Audrey but she wasn't in the mood to bicker words with her.. her concern at the moment was Lucas only him.

Genevieve rant for almost an hour calling her names but she didn't say a word .her eyes were in the ward. The doctors came out and only then did Genevieve stopped ranting

" Doc, how is he? Asked Audrey quickly

" He's fine. Nothing serious. He's bruised at the back " they announced

" Can I see him? She asked as the doctors gave her a go-ahead and they went in. Lucas wound was sutured and he was sitting.
