Viola was disappointed at Ivy for being so stupid as to present a death certificate to Audrey. Though she had no drug Lord on her side, she still got some gangsters who can work for her. Catching Audrey wasn't the issue now. She wanted Ivy's money to start all over. What better way to achieve it than to let Audrey deal with her.
She sent a message to one of her old-time gang bosses and asked for a request.
Bobby and Genevieve offered to go with Lucas but he refused though Genevieve insisted.
" General, Bob can handle your business. I am here to protect you. I know nothing about business"
" Genevieve, I'll be working there too and I will mostly be with Audrey. I don't think you enjoy seeing us together" he stated as she controlled the urge to roll her eyes at him. Is he just noticing? They make out in her presence every time. She was going whether he liked it or not.
" I don't mind. Miss Audrey is a target remember? I can't risk seeing you hurt because of her" she muttered as Audrey rolled her eyes at him in agitation
" No offense Miss Audrey. I'm going with you guys" she announced entering the driver's seat. Lucas didn't say anymore and beckoned Audrey to get in the car.
" Fine. Her choice." She said entering the car. Bobby thought Gen was right so he called a few people in LA to be on the watch. Lucas might not have enemies but Audrey does.
The private jet took off in the air as Audrey was on her PC writing to the hotel to get ready.
" How long does it take to get to LA from here? She asked Lucas
" Minimum of nine or twelve hours" he voiced as she sighed in relief
She wasn't worried when she boarded a ship for a month now she's worried about a few hours flight he sneered.
" Too long? He asked her resting her head on his shoulder
" Yep. I can't sit that long. I could sleep too right? She asked excitedly standing up to the vacant room in the plane
" Audrey, we just started the journey. Sit down" he said sternly as she stopped in her steps sitting down with a gloomy face which he ignored
" Then play with me. I'm bored my love" she muttered whining
" I don't know how to play Audrey" he whispered
She frowned and sat properly plugging her earpiece resting on him. She dozed off eventually. Lucas had to carry her to the room sleeping beside her in case she's awake and all alone.
The jet evacuated his passengers. Audrey carried her bags while Gen helped Luke to carry his. She wondered why she's overprotective of Luke. This isn't about order any more. Lucas helped her with her bags while she held his arms smiling at him. He looked at her small face and smiled .she has many sides to her he concluded
A chauffeur was waiting to pick them up already. Audrey was surprised. The chauffeur greeted them and packed their luggage. Genevieve was in the co-pilot seat while Audrey sat with Lucas clinging to him like a koala and I liked her clinginess.
Audrey looked at her former hometown and memories of her childhood flooded in like a memory rush. She didn't know when two drops of tears fell from her eyes. Lucas noticed it and wipe it off.
" Bad memories? He asked softly pulling her into his bosom
" Yeah. I grew up here till my parents died and my life changed" she sniffles
" Don't talk about it if it makes you sad " he coaxed as she raised her head staring at him
" They're good memories, Luke. It's just that it didn't last. My dad was a mechanic: he was very good at it while my mom was a banker. She loved my dad with everything. You should have seen them, they were inseparable. So much affection. My mom loved my dad too much and that destroyed her life when he died of a brain tumor. She went into a coma leaving me all alone" she narrated as he wiped the tiny drop of tears from her cheeks
" Sounds like they only loved themselves and not you," he said holding her warmly
" Not my Dad and my mom she loved me in her way. They provided everything for me. Initially, I was going to be a doctor but fate beat me to it. I guess life doesn't go as planned" she whispered
" They're watching over you. I'm here to shield you from the world if you'll let me. " He kissed her head
" Hmm. I've told you a story about my childhood. I want to hear yours." She started rubbing his arm
" What do you want to know? He asked softly
" why you hate women and what happened to your late brother" she whispered
" That's a topic for another day Audrey. " He stated
" Fine. I don't want to ruin your mood. I'm here to listen Luke whenever you feel like it" she muttered feeling him tense up.
The hotel welcomed them and showed them their room respectfully. Audrey resumed work asking for the details as she wasn't staying for long. They made a report for it.
She used her leisure time to check the surroundings making notes on it. She checked the housekeeping department and the bar and resort and the kitchen. She had a lot to do.
