Chapter 336: Chapter 336

"Think about it. There’s a storm at the entrance of the Homeland Sea, and there’s one here too. Maybe there’s a Sea Beast here like the ones in the Homeland Sea? After all, we didn’t encounter any when we were in the Homeland Sea."

"The gates of the Ocean of All Beings haven’t opened, so no ships have come out; the Sea Beasts should be at rest. Logically, the Sea Beasts should be able to sense the gates opening, or something similar, and be waiting in advance. Perhaps they know the gates opening means many ships will emerge, or maybe they find humans delicious?" Alka mused before replying.

"Really?" Jason responded, then offered his own thought. "You might be right. Maybe we just sailed right over its head, and it doesn’t even know."

The moment he finished speaking, an alarm blared from the ship. The loud clang of a bronze bell made everyone turn their heads toward Jason. Jason opened his mouth, about to say something.

"Shut up!" A card flew over and stuck to his mouth.

"Everyone, prepare for battle!" Alka commanded, then took control of the Sound of Dawn and raised its Shield once more.

"Sound of Dawn, full speed ahead! Pororo!" At Alka’s shout, Pororo nodded and immediately leaped to the bow, raising both hands high. The water-like patterns on his body lit up, and the sea beneath them churned violently, like relentlessly advancing waves, swiftly carrying the Sound of Dawn away.

Their swift reaction seemed to momentarily baffle the enemy.

One silver line after another burst from the water, whipping towards them like long lashes. BANG!

As these silver lines erupted from the sea’s surface, all cannon ports flew open, and every Vibrating Stone Cannon fired simultaneously.

These silver lines were exceptionally sharp. They whizzed through the air like streaks of silver light, striking the Shield multiple times and causing numerous cracks to appear.

The roar of the cannons sent shells flying. However, all of them passed right through the silver lines and plunged into the sea. The lines were too thin; the cannonballs simply couldn’t hit them. With a slight twist, the lines easily dodged the attacks.

An ice-blue Ice Bullet, radiating a biting chill, shot out and accurately struck one of the silver lines. Instantly, the line froze solid in mid-air.

The attack came from Jason, who raised his gloved left hand. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭•𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦•𝘯𝘦𝘵

Seeing the Ice attack’s effectiveness, Jason swished out a long blade of Coldness, severing several of the whipping lines. These lines instantly froze solid, caught in their striking posture.

Now, only two silver lines remained, which could be easily blocked and dealt with.

But this only made Alka furrow his brows. If this is all it has, such a Sea Beast wouldn’t be capable of chasing down ships carrying Treasures.

Their attacks had successfully hindered the enemy’s movements, but this also seemed to enrage it.

The sea at their stern erupted, revealing a large mass. The true form of the Sea Monster emerged, its entire body rising from beneath the waves.

Under the sunlight, it reflected a silver brilliance. It was a creature resembling a colossal ball of yarn, almost as large as the Sound of Dawn itself. Countless silver lines covering its body writhed and spun like tentacles, then shot out, sweeping towards them.

"Are there so many of them?"

There were too many silver lines. Whipping in all at once, it was impossible for them to block everything.

Julia and Jason stood at the stern, relentlessly launching blades of Coldness and Ice Magic Bullets at the incoming attacks. Yet, against the sheer volume of silver tentacles, their efforts were like a drop in the ocean.

Just then, a large cloud of pink smoke billowed from the stern, sweeping forward rapidly like an ocean wave. In an instant, it enveloped all the silver lines and continued to surge onward.

Every silver line touched by the pink smoke seemed to be imbued with some kind of slowing Magic Power, causing them to stretch towards the ship with agonizing slowness. This bought them precious time.

Several Red Cards shot past, piercing through these lines and landing in the midst of the incoming tentacles. The Red Cards, now at the center, began to spin with inertia. Then, massive columns of fire erupted from all four edges of each card.

As several cards activated simultaneously, the gushing columns of fire, propelled by their Rotation, merged to form a Spiral flame Shield. It instantly ignited all the silver lines that had been slowed in mid-air.

These silver tentacles weren’t just vulnerable to Ice; upon contact with the flames, they ignited instantly, as if coated in some flammable substance.

"It fears flames!" Alka roared out the crucial information.

The massive loss of its silver tentacles seemed to inflict a painful lesson upon the enemy, which let out an ear-piercing scream. The monster’s shriek was extraordinarily bizarre, like a needle forcefully scraping across a chalkboard, and it seemed to carry Magic Power.

Silver ripples swept out once more, plunging the surroundings into an eerie silence.

Seizing this opportunity, the Sound of Dawn, with Pororo’s assistance, swiftly maneuvered out of the enemy’s attack range.

They could see the monster still thrashing in pain on the sea’s surface behind them, not giving immediate chase.

Only then did everyone let out a slight sigh of relief. Their ship was definitely fast enough; they should be able to shake off the enemy.
