Chapter 290: Chapter 290
A perfectly good dinner became tasteless for Le Tong due to Ji Rui’s arrival.
After dinner, President Ji stood up, and Le Tong thought he had finally realized he was unwanted and would sensibly leave on his own.
Little did she know, he opened the door and called to the person outside, letting in a burly man from the doorway.
The man responded and bent down to start working, but Le Tong couldn’t help but frown at Ji Rui’s presumptuous behavior of treating her place like it was his own.
"Brother Hui, let me do it."
Le Tong tugged at the man’s arm, stopping him.
"But..." The man looked at Ji Rui, then at Le Tong, feeling troubled.
Le Tong’s good manners had finally reached their limit.
Originally, she didn’t want to show any dissatisfaction or dislike for Ji Rui in front of her son, but his behavior was simply intolerable.
"Baobao, tell them to leave. Otherwise, you go back too!"
Seeing that Le Tong was angry, Baobao panicked as well.
He quickly waved his hand and winked at Ji Rui, "Daddy, you should go home, Little Bai and White are waiting for you to feed them."
The man stood awkwardly in place while Ji Rui silently glanced at Le Tong and saw that she was genuinely upset. He felt a bit helpless too.
Previously, he always thought Le Tong was pretending, acting. Often, he would disdain or get angry over her pretenses and acting.
Now, she wasn’t pretending or acting anymore. She directly displayed all her dissatisfaction and dislike towards him on her face and expressed it with her words, yet Ji Rui couldn’t feel happy about it.
"Le Tong, I just didn’t want you to be too exhausted, so I asked him to come in and clean a bit. Is that really something worth getting angry over?"
Ji Rui said with a touch of helplessness and a hint of resentment.
Le Tong laughed angrily, "Okay, you don’t want me to be too exhausted, right? Then you wash them yourself, why do you have to ask someone else to do it?"
Le Tong’s original intention was simply to annoy the man into leaving.
She knew well that President Ji, who was used to being served and pampered, could not possibly stand her, a former little secretary, arrogantly ordering him to wash dishes?
Le Tong thought she understood Ji Rui, but unexpectedly, the man gave her a deep look and gestured for Brother Hui to leave, "You go out."
Then he swiftly rolled up his sleeves and bent down to start cleaning up the mess on the coffee table.
Le Tong slightly opened her mouth, surprised to see the tall man silently stacking the dishes in order by size.
Not only was Le Tong surprised, but even Ji Baby stared at Ji Rui with wide eyes and an open mouth until Ji Rui straightened up, and only then did the little one move his butt, "Daddy, let me help you."
Ji Rui nodded at him, "Sit still and don’t move."
The man, as dignified as if standing on the stage before ten thousand employees, issued an order to his dear son and turned around carrying the towering stack of dishes and cutlery into the kitchen.
Ji Baby watched as Ji Rui hunched over into the kitchen and mysteriously waved at Le Tong, softly calling, "Mommy, come here..."
Le Tong, still secretly astonished at President Ji’s sudden ability to rise and bend, saw her son calling her and leaned over to squeeze onto the sofa with him.
Baobao naturally climbed onto her lap, the whole person lying softly in her arms.
Ji Baby looked up with his small face, blinking his beautiful eyes, "Mommy, Daddy listens to you well!"
In her heart, Le Tong went "tsk," thinking that he was only yielding because circumstances compelled him, not because he was obedient.
"Don’t talk nonsense!"
Le Tong pretended to be angry and lightly tapped the little guy’s soft little tush two times with a stern face.
The little guy buried his face in her arms, giggling, and didn’t say anything else. He gleefully enjoyed himself in her arms for quite a while, as if his laughter button had been pressed.
Le Tong always knew Baobao was small but clever, and now she wondered where exactly this little guy’s mind was going.
"Baobao, go to bed early tonight. Starting tomorrow, you can’t sleep in anymore. You need to exercise in the morning with Mommy, understand?"
Doctor Dong said that moderate aerobic exercise can help in recovering the body’s functions.
"Got it!" Baobao responded crisply.
The mother and son snuggled on the sofa for a while, and finally, Baobao climbed down from Le Tong’s arms and put on his slippers. Le Tong thought he was going to use the restroom, but unexpected, he ran to the kitchen.
Baobao leaned against the kitchen door, peeking inside sneakily, and called to the man hunched over the sink, "Daddy..."
Ji Rui turned to look at him, "What?"
Baobao stepped closer, tiptoeing to peek at the condition inside the sink, only to see his daddy with one hand holding a dish and the other holding a sponge full of bubbles. He looked quite earnest.
"Daddy, can you really wash dishes?"
Ji Rui was both amused and annoyed by his dear son’s low opinion. "Who doesn’t know how to wash dishes? It’s such an easy thing."
Ji Baby peeked again at the sink, raised his eyebrows, and asked, "Haven’t you broken any plates?"
Ji Rui was speechless, too lazy to explain to Baobao, put down the dish, and, not caring about his soapy hands, swept Baobao up in his arms at the waist.
"Baobao, take a look yourself, have I broken any plates?"
Baobao earnestly inspected the neatly stacked dishes in the sink, and indeed, each one was intact.

Baobao furrowed his brows, appearing puzzled.
Ji Rui never understood the little guy’s way of thinking, so he had no idea what the confusion was.
"On TV, those idle rich young masters trying to please a wife always end up breaking all the plates when they insist on washing dishes! Daddy, why aren’t you like that?"
Ji Rui felt both exasperated and amused, setting down Baobao, "Daddy isn’t one of those idle rich young masters. Of course, Daddy can do things ; it just isn’t necessary most times."
Ji Rui patiently explained to his son, yet overlooked the fact that besides the description "idle," the scenario from Baobao’s TV show didn’t apply to him since Le Tong wasn’t his wife either.
Seeing that his daddy didn’t deny his words, Ji Baby was quietly pleased and added with a nod, "Oh... Baby’s daddy is the powerful president of the Ji Family, not an idle rich young master. So if daddy eats at Mommy’s house in the future, daddy will wash the dishes!"
Ji Rui had no significant reaction to this proposal. To him, washing dishes was a small matter, and if doing it could make Le Tong look a bit happier, he didn’t mind.
Ji Baby tugged at his wrist, waiting for Ji Rui to bend down, and then leaned over to whisper in Ji Rui’s ear, "Daddy, being a good man starts with washing dishes!"
Ji Rui watched as his son scampered away like a monkey and muttered to himself, "What nonsense!"
No sooner had he said it, than his precious son’s excited shout came from outside, "Mommy, Daddy said from now on, he’ll handle all the dishwashing!"
