Chapter 202: Chapter 202
Le Tong found Ji Baby’s childish reaction very funny but was too embarrassed to laugh out loud, so she just leaned over and pinched his frog-like puffed-up cheeks.
"Sister likes no one else, only Baby! Now and forever!" This content belongs to N0v3l.Fiɾe.net
Le Tong coaxed him softly and leaned in to kiss Baby’s forehead.
Ji Baby remained motionless, only lifting his eyelids to look at her, seemingly dissatisfied with her words.
Having said what she needed to, and seeing no signs of Ji Baby letting go, Le Tong stopped coaxing and stood up to say to Baby.
"Is Baby not going to talk to Sister anymore? Well then, I’ll head back first!"
After speaking, she dragged the chair as if she was about to leave.
As soon as she turned around, her sleeve was grabbed, and before Le Tong could react, Ji Baby had already pounced on her, hugging her tightly.
"Sister, don’t go..." His weak tone was devoid of the earlier willful dominance, resembling a stray puppy abandoned on the roadside.
Le Tong wrapped her arms around him in return, "Sister can stay a little longer, but Baby must not throw tantrums or be willful!"
Ji Baby buried his face in her clothes without a sound, and Le Tong turned her head to stare at the top of his head, "Hmm?!"
"Oh... Baby knows..." Ji Baby pouted and reluctantly replied.
Only then did Le Tong sit back with an effort, holding him tightly, placing the uneaten bowl of rice in front of him, "Focus on eating! Otherwise, Sister will leave right away."
Threatened by Le Tong, Ji Baby immediately picked up his chopsticks, scooped up the rice bowl, and started devouring the food.
Having already had lunch, Le Tong wasn’t hungry, and now with her mind in chaos, she had even less appetite. She only drank a bowl of soup and sat beside supervising Ji Baby finish a bowl of rice and a bowl of soup.
After the father and son finished eating, the waiter came in to clear the dishes, and Le Tong took Baby to wash his face, urging him to take a nap.
Baby initially refused to sleep, "Baby won’t go! Sister will leave while Baby is asleep!"
Le Tong patted his face, "Your daddy knows where Sister lives, Sister can’t run away, now go to sleep, or Sister won’t talk to you!"
Ji Baby looked up at Le Tong, "Baby wants Sister to sing a lullaby."
This request was reasonable, so Le Tong didn’t refuse, sitting at the bedside humming a lullaby softly for him several times. After a long busy day, Ji Baby finally fell asleep gradually.
Le Tong tucked him in carefully, quietly tiptoeing out.
In the living room, Ji Rui, engrossed in his laptop, heard the door and looked up, "Asleep?"
Le Tong nodded, "Yes!"
Gently closing the door, she walked over to sit on the single-seater sofa in the living room.
"Ji Rui, let’s talk!"
Regarding many foreseeable dangers, Le Tong would deliberately avoid them, but when she knew she couldn’t escape, she usually faced them bravely, just like the situation before her now.
Ji Rui closed his laptop, his piercing eyes landing on her face, "Actually, we have nothing to talk about!"
Le Tong was stunned for a moment, probably because until just now, Ji Rui had been so amiable, giving her the illusion that this man had changed and would be willing to try and respect her decisions.
But as soon as he opened his mouth, she realized she was too naive!
Someone like Ji Rui, always self-centered and eccentric, wouldn’t be conscious of respecting others.
"Alright, since you think we have nothing to talk about, I’ll go!"
Le Tong was a bit angry too. He wasn’t anyone to her, so why such an arrogant attitude toward her?!
Before, when she was his subordinate, for the sake of a hefty salary, she had to bear his temper and work under his watchful eye. But it’s different now; she has no ties with him anymore!
Ji Rui quietly watched her, his deep eyes carrying unreadable intent.
Le Tong took a few steps, remembered something, and turned around to meet his narrowed eyes.
"I’ll have someone deliver the check this afternoon, make sure to sign it."
Having said that, she no longer looked at Ji Rui, turned, and strode towards the door.
Her hand on the doorknob, she couldn’t turn it however much she tried.
Le Tong silently cursed "Damn!", glaring at the doorknob for several seconds before biting her lip and walking back to the living room, extending her hand towards Ji Rui.
Ji Rui seemed to have anticipated her return, yet watched her with a calm expression.
"Give me the key!" Le Tong was a bit impatient; the good mood she had accumulated in these ten odd days here was mostly worn away by this annoying man before her.
Ji Rui stared at her with indifference, "No!"
Le Tong glared at him, "Ji Rui, can you stop being so unreasonable? Just tell me what you want; I don’t have time to play with you."
At some point, Le Tong’s attitude towards Ji Rui had shifted from respectful to downright blunt.
Ji Rui leaned back, resting his long arm on the back of the sofa, looking up at her with ease, "Come back with me!"
Despite the lightness in his tone, there was overwhelming dominance and authority. Such a Ji Rui was the familiar President Ji, who always wanted everything under his control.
Le Tong stubbornly raised her chin; unless he knocked her out and took her by force, there was no way she would go back to R City with him.
Ji Rui ground his teeth, his deep eyes fixating on her, as if he wanted to draw her entirely into his gaze.
Le Tong remained silent, only staring back at him in defiance.
They stared each other down for a moment before Le Tong suddenly turned and went into the bathroom, soon followed by the rushing sound of flushing.
After a few minutes, Le Tong came out of the bathroom, without looking at Ji Rui or speaking to him, and sat down on the sofa, focusing on scrolling through pages on her phone.
Ji Rui assumed she had finally come around and compromised, quietly glanced at her, then resumed his work on his laptop.
After about half an hour, the doorbell suddenly rang, and Ji Rui picked up the intercom.
"Mr. Ji, we’re from the service desk, here to deliver some fruit."
Ji Rui glanced at Le Tong, "I didn’t order fruit."
"Miss Le ordered it, two fruit platters, a pot of coffee, and three sandwiches."
Ji Rui produced a remote control from somewhere, pressed it, and the door opened with a click.
The waiter pushed a dining cart into the room, but accompanying them were two police officers in uniform, and Le Tong, who had been idly browsing on her phone, leaped up like a monkey and jumped behind the two officers.
Ji Rui’s expression shifted slightly, "Le Tong, what’s the meaning of this?"
Le Tong ignored him, while the officer in front spoke to Ji Rui, "Mr. Ji, we just received a call for help from Miss Le here, stating you are unlawfully detaining her!"
