Chapter 22: Chapter 22

“He… what are you?” asked the blond man from table three who had previously annoyed Jonea. The man staggered to his feet and loosened the tie around his neck.

“She's MY GIRL!” Elmar lowered his head and whispered those words into Jonea's right ear. While his left hand hugged the girl's waist in a very possessive manner.

Jonea closed her eyes. She was shocked and panicked. Mixed feelings swirled in her mind. Jonea is afraid that her cover will be exposed. However, when she saw Elmar standing by her side, a slight feeling of relief rose in Jonea's chest.

"Hah!" The man from table three sneered. “Since when did a human slave like her become a werewolf girl?”

Bang! The man pounded the table with his fist.

The tension from table three rippled through the cafe. The previously boisterous atmosphere with parties suddenly fell silent for a few seconds. The male colleagues from table three immediately rose from their seats. They arrested the drunken friend and immediately apologized to Elmar.

"Forgive our friend. He was drunk and out of control."

"What are you guys doing?" shouted the blonde-haired man. He rebelled and broke free from the hands of his restraining friends. "I'm not drunk!" he exclaimed. "He's been interrupting my fun!"

One of his friends stood up and firmly took the drunk man by the arm. "Are you crazy?" he whispered. “Immediately apologize. Don't you know who you're dealing with? He's Elmar Delamo!”

The blonde-haired man widened his eyes suddenly. His mind is dark when drunk. His obsession, when he wanted to annoying Jonea, instantly decayed. He looked at Elmar with a frightened look. The man immediately lowered his head and apologized to Elmar.

“I'm just kidding. I'm not really serious about doing that. Please forgive me,” said the man with a trembling tone.

Jonea felt nauseous instantly. The drunken man she almost hit with a bottle of wine now looked scared in front of Elmar like a helpless kitten. Jonea wanted to leave there, but Elmar held her back and hugged the girl's waist.

"Why are you apologizing to me, sir?" said Elmar in a relaxed and calm voice, but his gaze was intimidating. “Shouldn't you be apologizing to my girl? Kneel before her.”

The drunk man from table three opened his eyes. His face fell for a moment. His hands clenched tightly. But, without thinking much, he stood in front of Jonea. All eyes turned towards them. In the next second, something completely unexpected happened. The man knelt before Jonea and sincerely apologized with his head down.

Jonea trembled at the sight. Never before has a werewolf bowed and knelt before a human. Jonea is scared. This would pose a great danger to her.

But, secretly, Elmar tries to reassure the girl and sends support. "Will you forgive him?" asked Elmar softly into Jonea's ear.

'Damn it!' Jonea cursed inside. 'I don't want to go this far. Just let me get out of here!’

The blonde man kneeling in front of Jonea was trembling with fear. Head kept bowed. He waited for an apology from Jonea.

A few seconds passed, and Jonea was still silent.

"You know the consequences," Elmar told the man kneeling before Jonea. "My girl doesn't-"

"I forgive him!" Jonea shouted firmly and hastily. "Stand up, sir. It's just a misunderstanding. Please don't overdo it."

Jonea broke away from Elmar's embrace and immediately backed away. Jonea ran away from table three. She went to the kitchen in a hurry. Even though all eyes followed her, the cafe manager immediately came to soften the atmosphere.

"What is this, gentlemen? Very tense atmosphere. Please turn on the music,” said the manager to his staff.

The commotion ended. The manager approached Elmar and literally bowed his head apologetically to him. The manager's actions were also followed by the diners from table three.

Elmar approached the blonde man teasing Jonea and whispered to him over the music.

“You're lucky that girl forgave you. If not, then…”

"Why are you taking so long?" asked Hunter, who was already standing behind Elmar. "Is there any problem?"

Seeing the appearance of Hunter Abraham behind Elmar Delamo, the people at table three at a time, Johny, the cafe manager, were really scared.

"There isn't any!" said Elmar casually. “It just happened that they greeted me and wanted my autograph.” Elmar glanced at the man at table three.

"They? Your fans? These men?” Hunter frowned.

"That's enough. Let's get back to the table and party tonight until morning. Or do you want to continue the next session and we hunt in the forest?” bargained Elmar to Hunter.

Elmar put his arm around Hunter's shoulders and dragged his best friend back to their table.

"What took you so long, El?" asked Edison, who was also curious. “Is there a problem with that servant girl?”

“Which servant girl?” asked Aland, who was also curious.

"You didn't see her, Aland?" Edison was a little surprised. “That girl is very beautiful. She reminds me of Mill—”

Elmar immediately shuts Edison's mouth to avoid saying more with an olive from his cocktail glass.

"Come on, let's have a toast!" Elmar said, raising his glass.

"What are you doing?" Edison was a little annoyed that he was suddenly stuffed with an olive. But Ed chewed it happily.

The atmosphere melted again, and they talked about anything, especially about girls.

Aland felt that something was wrong with Elmar. He followed the direction of Elmar's gaze, who kept glancing towards the kitchen.

“Are you targeting a girl? Which girl again this time?” muttered Aland. "What is the maid?"

"What maid?" Elmar said with an awkward laugh. "I'm just bored."

At table number three, the man who had teased Jonea was still looking annoyed. He drank the rest of the alcohol straight from the bottle and grumbled at his friends. Occasionally he glanced at table five.

"Why are you so stupid?" scolded his friend. “Do you want to die tonight too? Elmar Delamo is the alpha of the Delamo pack. You know very well who the people behind it are, right?”

“Well, the Delamos have long been in touch with some of this country's strongest and meanest mobsters. You won't be able to run anywhere if you become their target, "said another colleague.

However, the blonde-haired man with the scorpion tattoo on his left neck still looked annoyed. He couldn't accept being humiliated in public just because of a servant of the human race.

Jonea huddled in the employee locker room. She was still trembling with fear.

Johnny, the cafe manager, came up to her. "Are you all right, Jonea? Did they hurt you?"

“I'm sorry, John. This is completely out of the ordinary. I've screwed up the party tonight. I'll pay for my mistake, but please don't punish Marlyn.”

Johnny pressed his lips together. He looked at Jonea seriously. "How could I do that to you? You want a rope hanging around my neck?”

"What do you mean?" Jonea needs help understanding.

“Why didn't you say that Elmar Delamo was your boyfriend? If I had known, I would have treated you much better than this. I'm really sorry, Jonea! I I...."

Cold sweat slid down Jonea's nape. She didn't know there would be such a misunderstanding. Jonea tried to explain to Johnny that it wasn't like that. But the cafe manager really didn't care. He was too focused on Elmar's whereabouts.

“Go home now and rest at home, Jonea! I relieve you of duty. I'm still going to pay this job in full for you, and I'm not going to do anything to Marley.”

Jonea felt relieved. Right now, the most important thing for her was that she didn't ruin Marlyn's work. Jonea was completely exhausted. Her energy was drained after the incident at table three.

It's too late. The time is 03.00 am. Jonea forced herself to go home. Even though she knew things were very dangerous for her before morning came.

She was wearing a red knit sweater and had wrapped a scarf to partly cover her lips. The pre-winter fall was colder that night than the previous nights. Jonea rubbed her palms together for some warmth.

“Hopefully, the last bus is still around!” Jonea muttered as she folded her arms to her chest. She walked calmly towards the nearest bus stop.

The girl is sitting at the bus stop waiting for the bus. Occasionally Jonea glances at her cell phone and checks the time.

“Oh, have they passed? Damn! I have to wait in the morning for the next bus. But it's too cold. I will order a taxi online.”

She kept moving her feet to ward off the cold.

A Maserati flashed in front of her. The driver suddenly reduced the vehicle's speed and stopped before the bus stop.

Jonea glanced over her phone. HShe didn't recognize the driver. However, when the back window was opened, Jonea was suddenly surprised.

"The man from table three!" she screamed. "What he wants?"

"You need a ride, Miss? We'll drop you off as an apology. Has your lover left you? I don't see Elmar." The blonde man was looking around.

"I'm fine. I'm waiting for my beloved!” replied Jonea origin. The girl immediately stood up and tried to run.

“Hey, you think you can escape from me? You must pay for what you did to humiliate me!” shouted the man.

Jonea really relied on her legs to save herself. She ran along the sidewalk and tried to get into the crowd. She continued running under the bright street lights and the many surveillance cameras.

However, the Maserati kept chasing her no matter how fast she ran.

“Why do they keep following me?”

Jonea glanced at the closed shops on the right side of the road. Jonea had no other choice. She quickly entered the dark alleys between the shops to avoid the cars still following her.

Jonea manages to stay away from the road. Once, she glanced behind her and heard no sound of chasing after her. Jonea took a deep breath and leaned against one of the backs of the shop building.

Jonea's ears heard fast-approaching footsteps from all directions. She turned her head to the dark alley in front and behind her. Jonea's eyes caught a shadowy figure charging towards her. The girl screamed.

“Ahhhh...!”
