Chapter 65: Chapter 65

Kendric's POV

The wedding day...

It's only a matter of three hours before she finally becomes my other half. I still can't believe this is happening right now. Only a year ago, she told me that we were already official all of a sudden, and now we're here waiting for the next chapter of our lives. It feels so surreal now that I'm already here, preparing for my own wedding.

We have been arranging this event for three months, and Angela chose to have a garden wedding, so we got busy picking out the best options for the flowers. Even the small details, like the candles and the pattern of chairs in the venue, were arranged by her personally. Her staff will be the editing and the photography team for our wedding.

As they put on some light make-up on my face, I started to recall what happened the moment I saw her again in this city. I was just having a lunch meeting at the time when I noticed her from the first floor of the restaurant, which I was in. She's talking to a guy who's waving a magazine in front of her, and she looked so mellow and timid at that time. I would never forget that moment, and I even canceled the whole meeting that day just to follow her around. She's been the same woman that I loved before. When she saw me that day, I don't know what got into her, but she instantly walked out. I got scared at that moment when she ran away from me. I thought I was never going to see her again, and God knows how long it took for me to find out where she went when she left me almost three years ago.

I tried to pursue her again little by little, but she wanted to distance herself so much that it hurts me to see her so happy without me in her own little world. I don't want to sound possessive or obsessive, and I'm really happy that she's enjoying her life, but somehow there's still a question in my mind: what if I remain her admirer from afar until the end of time? Will I be okay with it?

As time went by and I got to watch her closely and see how her life works now, I suddenly felt content with the things she has now. She has her freedom, and that's even more satisfying to watch in her life now.

It made me feel like I should leave her alone now and just be glad that she's here, thriving to get her life back. But it turns out she only wanted to have time to process all the things that happened to her. I waited for her until she was ready, and now that we're here, I'll hold onto her until my last breath.

Someone tapped my shoulders, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Deniece smiling from ear to ear while she was trying to contain her tears.

"I can't believe you're getting married, you sucker," she said while her voice was completely trembling.

"I can't believe we both settled down now," I said as a matter of fact. She wiped the tears from the side of her eyes, and she pushed me a little by my shoulder when I teased her.

"You're such a baby," I teased her.

"Take care of her this time and forever, okay?" She said it like she was threatening me.

Deniece has been a good friend to Angela, and I can see that she cared so much for her that she even tried to stop me from falling for her just because she knew about both of our past relationships. She's been watching us all this time, and I can't help but express my gratitude towards her.

Right after they finished putting light makeup on my face, Angela's team gave me a little photoshoot with my family and my close friends. I heard from them that she's also having the same photoshoot right now.

When the event planner already called for my name, I immediately got nervous. I can't believe this is the level of nervousness I'm having right now. I held on to my mom's hands, and she caressed my arms to relax me a bit.

"It'll be great, darling; you don't have to worry about it," Mom assured me while Dad was just watching the both of us.

As the music started, we walked down the aisle, and now everything felt different. Today is the day that I'll be part of her, and she'll be part of mine. Nothing's running through my mind the moment I step on the altar while I wait for her to come. Many of our close friends have already walked down, and now this is her moment. The curtains closed, and when another song played, they opened and welcomed her. It's breathtaking to see her walking slowly towards me. Tyler is with her as the one who'll send her to the altar.

She's majestic.

When our eyes met, she couldn't help but cry, and so I chuckled a bit. As she moved closer to me, I couldn't help but thank Him for allowing me to spend the rest of my life with this woman. She's now in front of me, and I couldn't help but kiss her hand as Tyler guided her.

"Kissing is in the last part," she said in her trembling voice.

I laughed at it before the pastor began the ceremony. The whole time we're listening to what the pastor says, I can't help but steal glances at her until we have to recite our vow.

I spoke first.

"Love, this will be short and sweet. I love you every day. Now that we're here, where another chapter of our lives opens, I just want you to take my hand and rest assured that I'll be here whenever you want me to. I'll be forever thankful that you chose me, and I'll live up to the dreams we want to achieve. Again, I love you so much."

She looked at me and got the microphone from me right after I finished speaking. She put out a sticky note from her pocket, and that made me chuckle a little.

"I know that I'll forget my vow right at this moment, so I wrote it just to make sure," she said, and so the crowd cheered for her.

"Kendric, you've always been good to me. I thought you only saw me as a friend or a younger sibling, just like Deniece, but you proved me wrong since, well, we're right here, right? I've always hoped that we would see each other again, and I promised myself that if it happens, I'll grab onto you and never let you go, so I did. I love you from the moment I ask you out in front of that hospital, and I will still love you up to the moment where our hair will be already gray and old. I love you. With love, your wife."

My wife. I can't believe I can finally say it.

"With the power vested in me, I pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

The moment the pastor said those words, I put out her veil, and I was about to kiss her when the rain started pouring down. I immediately took off my coat and covered her head while the guests made their way to the side of the venue, where there's a long shed. Our clothes are already ruined, but what surprised me was when Angela laughed beside me.

"What's funny?" I asked cluelessly.

"The first time we met, it also rained all of a sudden," she said, and so I remembered.

I laughed with her while I was still covering her head from the rain, and just then he pulled me closer and initiated a short kiss. I paused for a second before I kissed her back.

The crowd cheered for us even though we were already soaking wet.

Those rainy days we shared brought us to where we are right now. With her, I'm already complete.

I have nothing to ask.

All I have to do is love her, now and forever.
